Summary: Very good BUT...
Review: (...) I expected a bit more. For example, there is no chapter list and the "bonus footage" is 10 minutes of tour manager, managers, etc..(a few from Lars & James, Chris Polland). The 1hr 16 minute behind the music is good but it moved to fast at times...It would have been nice to see at least ONE concert shot with live music and without all the panning and flashes going on to hype up the story. It seemed to focus more on Dave Mustaine and his drug problems than anything else...but I guess that's understandable when he's the one who formed the band in 1984(?). They also could have more interview time with Marty Friedman, who unquestionably, played with the band during their most productive years. And where the hell was Nick Menza?! This guy was their BEST drummer, why wasn't he on this documentary? If you are a fan, this DVD is worth getting...it was just short of expectations but entertaining nevertheless. The "Moto Psycho" video was kinda dull. Buy this DVD.

Summary: An objective approach to an exceptional band
Review: After viewing the original "Behind the Music" on VH1, I was planning on finding some way to get my hands on it. I then found out an extended version was being released on DVD. 'Deth, more 'Deth, and bonus footage of 'Deth...what's not to love? Regardless of if you are quasi-Deth or a total Deth-head BUY THIS VIDEO! Anyone who is a fan of Megadeth should obtain a copy. There are interviews of non-band members who supplement the overall story of the band, and the band interviews themselves provide insight to the inner-workings of this metal machine.
For the non-Megadeth fan, this video may not provide an immediate impact upon you. I do however urge you to give it a chance. VH1's "Behind the Music' documentaries are always good with providing a truthful image about the band. Nothing is embellished in this video, and no punches are pulled. All information, both bad and good, is presented in a straightforward manner. The non-Megadeth fan will find this video interesting due the route that the band has taken to obtaining their elite status.
I believe that even those who do not express a genuine love for music can appreciate the way that the band confronted and conquered the obstacles that were placed before them. As can be imagined, their rise to fame was not free of hardships.
Simply put: Whether or not you have a passion for Megadeth, I believe you will enjoy this DVD.

Summary: Great show.... but worth the money?!
Review: Coming from one of the biggest Megadeth fans around (and I really mean that), let me tell you that this is a very insightful and engaging tv special. I REALLY enjoyed watching it. Very cool indeed.

However, will I ever watch it again? Doubtful. Will anyone else who buy's it ever watch it again? I can't say it is very likely. If you're lucky enough to catch it on TV: tape it.
Otherwise, $23 plus tax and shipping is just too much to spend.
You are much better off buying Rude Awakenings DVD or finishing off your MEgadeth collection, becaues every CD rocks!

If you've got money to burn, go for it. Otherwise, check your TV listings.

Long live Megadeth !!!

Summary: This whole wannabe thing..
Review: Funny.. he's a wannabe? well... he was previously in metallica. and so its more of a "wasaone" You can't blame dave for making/joining a new band, music is what he loves. so he did the next best thing, and made a more talented band. guitar wise and drum wise, megadeth was 100x better then metallica. So don't go and call him a wannabe.

Summary: " Took all the Metallica ideas"
Review: I feel I have to address this statement as well, as I forgot to in my main "review." That's like saying Paul McCartney took all the Beatles ideas to form a wannabe Beatles band called Wings. THEY WERE HIS IDEAS AS WELL. HE WAS AN ORIGINAL MEMBER. If anything, Metallica took all Mustaine's ideas by putting his songs and his leads on their albums and ultimately in their pockets.

Summary: BUY THIS PIECE OF HISTORY
Review: I have been a longtime Megadeth fan. Now that the band is finished this is a good item to buy to look back on their 20 year stint. I am going to be a bit bold here and say that even without watching this or owning that I am sure this is excellent. Definitely one of the best metal bands--I don't think there are any newer metal bands actually. Pick this DVD up if you are a real Megadeth and metal fan and expose yourself to some real hard music instead of that ... music bands are making nowadays.

Summary: crap
Review: i think we all know dave mustaine is retarded and is a metallica wannabee. he took all the metallica ideas and formed this wanna-be-metallica band. megadeth is and allways will be a terrible band. dave, quit the band and go do some more heroin.

Summary: Worth the money...extended version of VH1 special.
Review: I've been a fan of Megadeth since the 80's. So when VH1 aired an episode of "Behind The Music" devoted to Megadeth, I watched and even recorded it. I knew that the show was released commercially by the band on dvd, but initially didn't see any point in buying it because I'd taped it off of VH1. However I found out later that the dvd features an extended version of the show, and has some extra stuff, so I decided to buy the dvd. I'm really glad I did! First of all, the "Behind the Music" episode has a lot of footage that must've got cut to fit the show into VH1's time requirements. The extra footage is really good and gives a lot more background about the band. Also included as a bonus feature on the dvd is some extra interview footage with various people. You also get the "Moto Psycho" music video too. I also really liked the layout of the dvd menus. Very nicely done, with a different Megadeth song playing at each menu. If you're even hesitating about buying this, DON'T! If you're a Megadeth fan at all, you won't be dissapointed.
