Rating: Summary: Gold, but not concert footage Review: ABBA gold is a great video for fans of this 80's group. The quality is comparable to late 70 - early 80's videos. The disappointment is that there is precious little concert footage, which I was hoping for. Still, if you love the music as much as I do, this tape is well worth the investment.
Rating: Summary: ABBA's Music Videos - Pure Fun and Nostalgia Review: As the members of ABBA continually declare that they won't reunite - though I still hold out hope for an induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to get them on stage together one more time - all we will have for now are their music videos. And ABBA GOLD, the group's greatest hits on video, is a satisfying treat of our craving to see ABBA as one. From "Dancing Queen" to "Waterloo", 19 videos in all, not only do you get to hear their timeless recordings, you also get to see how they changed to what they wore through the years in which their videos were released. (Check out the infamous costumes they wore in "Waterloo" and "Mamma Mia".) My only complaint, albeit a minor one, is that the videos are not in chronological order. Otherwise, they are fun to watch. Buy the video - it's a worthwhile investment for ABBA fans old and new. P.S. For the reviewer who felt that there was not enough concert footage, if you haven't seen it, you need to check out ABBA-THE MOVIE. Unfortunately, however, it's next to impossible to locate on VHS, so watch your cable listings.
Rating: Summary: ABBA GOLD: A REHASH OF OLDER SONGS WITHOUT NEW VIDEO Review: I BOUGHT THIS DVD AND WAS SORELY DISAPPOINTED BY THE FACT THAT IT WAS RELEASED WITH CLIPS FROM THE OTHER DVDS, INSTEAD OF NEW VIDEO FOOTAGE. YOU CAN TELL MOST OF THEM COME FROM ABBA "IN CONCERT" DVD,AND FROM THE ABBA "THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION" DVD IN THAT THE WORDS DO NOT MATCH THE SHOTS ON THE VIDEO. THIS WAS A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT TO ME, I HAD HOPED THAT THE VIDEO AT LEAST WOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECT AND ORIGINAL, BUT IT WAS NOT. I KNEW MOST OF THE SONGS WERE NOT NEW, BUT THE VIDEO I FELT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. SOUND WISE, IT PLAYS FINE AND HAS THE PROPER ABBA SOUND.
Rating: Summary: Good Collection Review: I dig Abba&there videos were pretty much straightforward but they had a fun quality to them.enjoying the music&the vibe helps make this a Cool Viewing&Listen.
Rating: Summary: "My favorite CD ever!" Review: I discovered the magic of Abba through the Abba Gold album! They are one of the greatest bands of the 70's and early 80's. I just wish they would make a comeback.
Rating: Summary: great collection at a great price IGNORE complainers Review: I don't understand all the complainers....why not review this for what it is and NOT for what it is not? Its a great priced collection of the campy videos and fabulous songs...AND the documentary is NOT excerpted from the WINNER TAKES IT ALL documentary like so many say....of course it covers some similar territory but that is natural but it IS fresh 25 minutes of interviews etc with Bjorn and the engineer who recorded all their great hits, and therefore unique to this collection. This is meant to appeal to the fans who didn't collect all ABBA music but bought ABBA GOLD....and does the job well...for around ten bucks..... the movies and live shows may or may not follow but this is a wonderful collection for now.
Rating: Summary: relaxing to the ear Review: I have been an ABBA fan since their first appearance. I have their entire library except for one. I would like to have their original video in any format. The title is ABBA - Made In Sweden For Export.
Rating: Summary: Nice videos with pleasant songs Review: I love this DVD, very good, don't miss, especially to those pleasant songs.
Rating: Summary: I hate to admit it, but... Review: I really liked this video. I hated their music when I was a teen. Too "pop". I preferred punk. Nevertheless, Abba's music was everywhere and although I didn't seek it out, it must have sunk in. When I watched the video, it really brought me back to an era and time-of-life I very much enjoyed. I even knew all the words!
Rating: Summary: GREAT VIDEO BUT WHY NOT ON DVD Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this video on vhs tape that my cousine gave me. But as a music video collector i would love to have this video on dvd.ABBA was such a talented group in the 70'. Their musics is timeless.
