Summary: all good stuff
Review: this collection of promotional videos covers all the singles from debut and post and all but 'all is full of love' and 'alarm call' from homogenic. it effectively works as a best of collection with added moving pictures, so if you are new to bjork this is the ideal place to start. the videos are as idiosyncratic as the music. bjork occupies a unique world all of her own, and although helped out by various, very talented directors these videos work well as a cohesive collection, because they are held together by a bjorkish eccentricity. (yes, the word bjorkish should be put it the dictionary immediately.) these promos have been lauded. they have won prizes, they have stunned casual viewers on television. it is all good stuff. see bjork chased by a giant teddy bear; see bjork make eggs implausibly sexy; see bjork bald and struggling against turning into some kind of mad cyber-bear. the woman is fascinating to watch, all the strange, unwordly facial expressions. these are not your standard mtv fodder. these are curious little pieces, and like the music, have already made a large impact on pop culture. you will see some of these ideas replicated elsewhere. glorious.

Summary: Great DVD
Review: Wow what a great collection! I discovered Bjork about a year ago and I must say I am glad I have this DVD. Micheal Gondry is extremely talented. Also check out Spike Jonze's great video "It's Oh So Quiet". This was HILARIOUS! Ok so if you love Bjork's music, you'll love Volumen.

Summary: The Incomparable Bjork
Review: Enigmatic and elfin, Bjork proves why she is in a league of her own with Volumen. Impeccable imagery combined with breath-taking vocals makes this album worth buying. All the videos grip your attention, and never let you go until the show is finished. Outstanding among all the videos are "I Miss You" and "Bachelorette". The former combines animation (not that Bjork needs any - she is animated enough on her own), with high energy music and the rising and falling of her instrument - her voice. "Bachelorette"'s recurring theme is an amazing concept, and one that wraps itself around the song. Both are exceptional. The other videos are also brilliant, and it is hard to pick a favourite among all her offerings. Buy this DVD, it will be money well spent.

Summary: The Girl from Iceland
Review: "You know, they worship the bear in Iceland," a friend of mine tells me as we're watching Bjork getting morphed into a blue bear in "The Hunter," the last feature on this trail of streaming, sensual and psychotic videos featured in "Volumen." I immediately think back to the first video in this program, "Human Behaviour," and realize that the bear is there, from beginning to end. Talk about staying in touch with your roots!

Needless to say, Bjork has mastered the art of catching our attention with off-beat, symbolic and striking imagery, all the while telling us stories about falling in love and wanting to be alone, like the pages of a book that starts writing itself ("Bachelorette"). My friends tell me that they have given an island in Iceland to Bjork. Now, imagine that... being so fabulous that your country dedicates an island to you! Truly, for Bjork, all IS full of love. And, if it comes down to just being alone, well, hey, she even shows you how to make the most perfect sunny-side up eggs for breakfast in the morning! In "Venus As A Boy," she ain't cookin' for two, don't ya know.

I highly recommend "Volumen" to everyone that has a human heart, even if you don't have a VCR or DVD player, BUY IT; it will give you a good excuse to go visit that friend of yours that DOES have a VCR or DVD player. Even more important, it's music and video like this where we are given the opportunity to open our imagination for the story to be whatever we want it to be. There is depth with Bjork, much unlike the pop-tarts, I mean, pop-stars that do what they're told, follow "the norm," and become limited extensions of their true selves.

Summary: This is a great collection from a wonderful artist...
Review: This was a wonderful DVD, each video is amazing in its own ethereal way... each is like a separate visually stunning movie short that I would probably watch even without the backing of Bjork's beautiful voice and cathartic synthesized tunes... on the flipside, I often pop this in to listen to without having the TV on. The only disappointment was that this collection didn't include her latest two videos; I am ordering the All Is Full Of Love single DVD upon completion of this review...

Summary: Bjork Volumen
Review: I'm a big fan of Bjork and I was very pleased to see a DVD released with all her film clips. So I bought this DVD through Amazon (Marked Zone 1 only) and I was very pleased with both the picture and sound quality from this DVD. This DVD worked great with my Toshiba SD-9000 (Which has been Modified to play all zones) and two friends tried this DVD in their players which were marked Zone 4 Australia only and they still played this DVD with out any problems, one friend had a Yamaha DVD player and the other had a Sony DVD player (Just goes to show that some players can play all zones, they just don't advertise the fact!).

Summary: Björk=Goddess
Review: Björk's music, and Björk herself--what more needs to be said? The only thing I didn't like about this though, was trying to pick a favorite video. ;)

Summary: Bjork, a true artist
Review: Bjork is truley the compleat artist. I had never seen any of her vidieos before I baught this DVD and the first time I wached it I was spellbound. As a design student I was struck with the imagnitiveness and artistry that went into creating a world spicific to each song. These vidios are the best example of modern art I have seen in the film medium, nothing like the usual MTV stuff. This colection more like a digital museam.

Summary: Truly Creative
Review: Björk is truly a talented artist. Her genius shines in this collection of videos from her three original solo recordings. A visual and audio masterpiece, she surrounds herself with some of the most creative people such as Spike Jones (Being John Malcovich) and Graham Massey (808 State). I thoroughly enjoyed each video, particularly the last one, Hunter. Even my three year old daughter enjoys watching this DVD with me. A must to include in any developing DVD collection.

Summary: Blown Away
Review: After watching these videos I sat for a few moments in utter amazement. As thought provoking as the songs, these videos are the perfect accompanyment to the listening experience Bjork's albums provide. From the enchanting simplicity of Joga to the complexity of Isobel, I was amazed again and again. Even someone who is not a fan would enjoy the visual effects-each is a separate and incredible example of what a music video could-and should be.
