Summary: I Loved It!
Review: "I just got a DVD player and home theater system, and this is the first DVD I bought, because I love the series! The 5.1 sound is spectacular, making it even better than the TV show, and the performances will blow you away. They're all performances from the first season, though. Is there a Volume 2 andVolume 3 coming out?"

Summary: Outstanding
Review: A great way to hear several artists that may be new to you. The 5.1 soundtrack is uneven in parts, but on the whole it is outstanding. It will make you not want to go back to 2 channel music. A great DVD. You can listen to this one over and over.

Summary: Where is volume 2 ?
Review: All right already - It will still be a while before I've played volume 1 to death, but I'm ready for volume 2 ! Where is it ? Vol 1 is such a great mix of high quality music/artists/sound/video.

Summary: Where's volume II
Review: I await with baited breath for volume II. What a fantastic compilation of artists. Its been over a year and still no volume II. I urge anyone who has even a passing interest in music to pick up this dvd. It has something for everyone. It is a must for any collection.

Summary: Should be in Amazon's top 10 music DVDs!
Review: I have played, played and played this DVD and I'm still not tired of it. It's simply great.

Summary: Sen-Session-al
Review: I think Sessions is probably the best music series on the air. Nothing on the "all-music" cable channels comes close. This compilation is a great way to sample what the show has to offer. It's a great, eclectic mix of artists. I just received the Neil Finn "Sessions" DVD and can recommend that as well. Keb' Mo' and Volume II are on order. I just hope that the next Sessions DVD will be the great Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach "Painted from Memory" offering. I have this on VHS and have nearly worn it out.

Summary: OUTSTANDING...PLEASE GIVE US MORE!
Review: I've always been a big fan of "Sessions.." and to have the intimacy of a small venue, combined with some of the most creative artists around today, combined with digital pic and sound is truly a music lovers dream come true. My one and only (hardly worth mentioning) complaint is a few times while the camera was panning from behind the drums the sound mix changed from one channel to another, That's fine for movies but for concerts I found it distracting. WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET MORE VOLUMES ON DVD? AN ARTISTS ENTIRE SET WOULD ALSO BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Everyone send the producers, distributors, whoever, email begging for more!

Summary: Nice DVD
Review: It's a pleasure to see a compilation disc that is about the music, instead of about the popularity of the artists. The sound and performances were all very good. I hope that this is the first of many DVDs to stem from this wonderful TV show.

Summary: Great DVD, But Why the Cuts?
Review: Recorded live (with a studio audience) at Sony's New York digs, the sound of this series (originally aired on PBS) is absolutely exceptional in the fully digital format. But why did they cut so much (and some of the best performances - i.e. David Bryne bouncin' and rippin' it up in a flame suit, Zap Mamma gettin' down acapella, etc) from the broadcast version of this best of? It originally aired in two one-hour parts, here we just get 70 minutes.

Also, why the heck are so few of the individual performances available? It's a crime to keep these from the pubic! (They are currently airing the series on cable's TRIO channel, but on my cable system the sound and video quality bites. I don't know if that's because they are using poor quality masters or because my cable company isn't devoting sufficient bandwidth for the channel.) If anyone knows who should be peppered with letters or email at Sony to get the DVD's flowing, please share the info here.
