Summary: LIVE BABY LIVE as you've never heard it before!
Review: If, like me, you own the vhs and laser disc versions of this spectacular concert from one of the world's best rock bands then prepared to be dazzled by the 5.1 audio mix of this DVD. You have the option of selecting audio formats Dolby Digital or DTS on this disc which is always a plus. To hear the classic INXS singles like Need you tonight, Suicide Blonde, and What you need in 5.1 is truly a delight for the ears. From the counting off of the songs right down to the backing vocals from INXS members Jon Farriss, Andrew Farriss and Kirk Pengilly. You can hear all of it so much clearer. Reviewers note:If you don't have a home theater set up equipped with at least 5.1 processing then none of what I just said regarding the audio mix will matter. The print on the DVD release of Live Baby Live is also considerably better than that of the grainy laser disc. The fun doesn't stop after the 100 minute concert either. This disc is loaded with extras! Band commentary, a photo gallery, behind the scenes footage and more make this a solid must own DVD for any INXS fan.

Summary: INXS - immortalized by this film.
Review: INXS fans fall into two categories:

1) Those who "hopped on" when the mega-monster KICK was released in 1987
2) Those who were introduced to and became die-hards during the early and struggling days of Underneath the Colours, Shabooh Shoobah, the Swing and the near-breakthrough Listen Like Thieves.

Because the LIVE BABY LIVE was filmed during the last leg of their X Tour, the concert focuses on the songs of KICK and X with little acknowledgement to their early work. If you're a die hard looking to see performances of songs such as To Look At You, Kiss the Dirt, Burn for You and other live staples from the early days, this isn't for you. Cross your fingers and pray for archive footage filmed during the Listen Like Thieves tour. I was fortunate enough to see the band perform many times between 1982 & 1986 and any captured performances from the early years would be a gem for any music fan. However, don't discount the LIVE BABY LIVE concert film as a mediocre/ subpar presentation - it's quite the opposite.

LIVE BABY LIVE is actually a fantastic release that captures the band during it's commercial peak. The band is exciting & in top form, the setlist and show flow well, and it displays the chemistry between six guys who managed to overcome a world of naysayers and make it to the top. You can tell they're enamored to be in front of 75,000 at Wembley Stadium. Who wouldn't be? (Personally, I still would have loved to see/hear a few gems from the early days but that's just me.)

My only critique here, which happens to be the same as Queen Live at Wembley '86, is in the editing department. There seemed to be a need to constantly cut away from a subject rather than let the viewer experience that member during their performance for longer than 3 seconds. Michael Hutchence was such a charismatic front man while the rest of the band laid down the music for the people. I just wish we had more time to focus on all of them.

The Features here are great - there are interviews from that era and, more surprisingly, recent times. It's nice to see the remaining INXS members reflect on that period, their lost bandmate and the overall frame of mind while preparing for the biggest concert of their lives.

The KICK and X years may not have been the band's most creative period but they did manage to make INXS a household name all over the world. I'm grateful to have LIVE BABY LIVE as part of my concert DVD collection. INXS will always be a band that is close to my heart.

Summary: "The biggest pub we've ever played"- Michael Hutchence
Review: It's been years since I've put in my VHS copy of this show and I had forgotten how good it is. This DVD is a treasure, not only to see Hutchence and company at the top of their game, but of course just to see Hutchence and be reminded of his charisma and stage presence. It is with admiration and sadness that I watch him take control of the Wembly crowd and perform every song like it was his last performance. What electricity, honesty, ... what a spark he had. Not that the rest of the chaps, especially Jon, don't seem to be having just as good a time. It really is the band in historic form. From "Original Sin" to "I Send a Message" to "Suicide Blonde," it's just about the perfect time capsule for the band (although I happen to think Welcome To Wherever You Are is one of music's great underrated masterpieces and would love a DVD from that era). I swear, when the Wembly crowd takes the vocals from Hutchence on "Mystify" in glorious DTS 5.1 sound I want to sing along. I would have loved an enhanced 16X9 widescreen picture, but how small a quibble is that? I haven't had a chance to go through the bonus features, but they're plentiful. Until INXS release a comprehensive and remastered DVD compilation of their video clips, this will do just fine.

Summary: Out of Sight...Out of Mind?
Review: NEVER! I cannot believe this INXS concert masterpiece is out of production already. I am looking for it on DVD because my five-year-old VHS tape is beginning to show its age. EVERYONE I have shown this concert tape to has raved about how good it is.Sound quality and visual editing are excellent, and "Live Baby Live" showcases one of the world's greatest bands in their prime. Michael Hutchence is at his best and if anything, this concert video/DVD should be re-released in honor of his tragic and untimely death.

Summary: Finally!
Review: Previously, this was only available on VHS and Region 4 (Australia) DVD, so the North American fans were left with little.

This is the one must-have concert-DVD for your collection. It is so enormous in scale. 72,000 fans packed in like sardines, all rocking out to one of the best live shows of any band ever.

This is INXS at their peak, no question. This needs to be played VERY loud!

Summary: INXS IN COMMAND PERFORMANCE
Review: This has to be one of the top 10 live performances on DVD anywhere.

Captured at their peak in Wembley, INXS showed why they were one of the hottest bands in the world. Before boy bands would take over en masse, INXS held the world in thrall with frontman Michael Hutchence and the band's unique blend of pop, rock and funk.

You can feel the stadium rock when INXS goes into Disappear - and you can feel the lighters sway in Never Tear Us Apart. In other words, this DVD experience is as good as being there. Truly one of those magical nights where the cameras managed to catch it all. Hutchence is in top form.

I saw the band a few years before on the rise as a lean hungry band in college, and a few years after this performance - this is absolutely the band at its peak. 2 albums later Hutchence had hit rock bottom.

Worth getting, and with the companion live CD - which has tracks that aren't on the DVD and vice-versa.

Summary: I WAS THERE!!
Review: This is a FANTASTIC video, showing INXS at their magnificent best. I am very pleased to say that I was actually at the concert, and this video captures perfectly the amazing atmosphere, fantastic music, and great voice and talent of the dearly missed Michael Hutchence. I bought this video when it was first released and it is now worn out - I *NEED* this on DVD! - I can't even find a replacement UK VHS video! I can't believe that one of the greatest rock groups of all time seem to have just disappeared from the public consciousness!
