Summary: Less Than Stellar....
Review: ...not the videos, but how this was packaged. Its been said before, but if you are going to label a DVD/VHS Madonna: Video Collection 93-99, one would think all the videos from that era would be included. But they aren't. I can see why "This Used To Be My Playground" and "I'll Remember" may not have been included, there are copyright issues because those music videos feature clips from movies, but there is no excuse why videos like "Deeper and Deeper", "I want You", "You'll See", "You Must Love Me" etc etc were not included. However for the videos that are included, it is truly a treat for the fans, to own the videos for masterpieces like "Bedtime Story", "Bad Girl", "Rain", and all of her other major videos. It just would have been nice to have a more complete video collection for the fans, but who knows, maybe someday we will get one.

Summary: Great Backgrounder
Review: Madonna is truly the true video artist and this DVD proves it. Bedtime Stories, Nothing Really Matters, Bad Girl are great videos. I have a number of parties and popped this in. It got everything's attention and fun to reminence and watch Madonna's best videos.

Review: This DVD looks and sounds great (even when I play it on my PC with help from an ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder video card).

Summary: Madonna's Vid Companion to GHV2...
Review: ...with the exception of her recent Music CD and the notorious "Justify My Love" video, this has about all the same jams on it. They are visually stunning cinematography and design that makes the vids 'stand alone' pieces of artistic creation and endeavor...some are like Dali or Miro meets Lynch. My favorites are "Bedtime Story", and "Nothing Really Matters"...even if you don't like Madonna, they are fun to watch.

Summary: A FEAST FOR THE EYES
Review: This is one of the best dvd of music clips I own, in every sense of the word: excellent songs, stunning images, great special effects, etc. I agree with some reviewers on why so many excellent videos weren't included, most notably "Erotica" and "Deeper and Deeper". Anyway, I feel the clips included in this dvd are the definitive masterpieces of Madonna's artristy, because, although her latest clips from the "Music" album have been very good, nothing can compare to the visuals and styles showed in such breathtaking videos as "Rain" (my favorite), "Bedtime Story", "Frozen", "Nothing Really Matters", et al. This a must for any Madonna fan and for videoclips'lovers in general.

Summary: Excellent collection of her latest videos.
Review: This video is really awesome and is great to go back in time and enjoy "Secret" and "Human Nature" from her Bedtime Story years. The only thing that troubled me about this video is that she left out some really great video like Erotica, Deeper and Deeper, I'll Remember, You'll See, and You Must Love Me, but included Love Don't Live Here Anymore (which is a bad song from her Like A Virgin Record and the video is really boring and stupid). I would have given it a 5 star rating except for the missing videos...

Summary: Elegantly Wasted
Review: I bought this DVD for myself as a birthday gift, and while I was blown away by the sound and picture quality (I'd give both a big 5), I must state that as a serious Madonna fan, I cannot but help feeling a little cheated.

First, Madonna's most spiritual and psychotic video to date ('Deeper and Deeper', from 1993) has not been included. This was a US Top 10 hit, and a far better video than many on the compilation here. While many people lament the fact that 'Erotica' does not figure here, it must be remembered that this is a video retrospective from 1993 to 1999, and 'Erotica' misses the mark. However, seeing that Madonna's last collection was dated 1983-1990, its a crying shame that the period from 1991-1992 has gone unaddressed. This would include 'Justify my love' and the stunning 'I'll Remember', both of which do not figure here.

However, the sound quality on the DVD is so exceptional that you may end up forgiving Warner for their sorry effort at conjuring up a Greatest Hits Collection on short notice. Listening to the simple melody of 'Secret' with its' mysterious video playing is a pleasure that I once again discovered. And Madonna's most creative video, 'Bedtime Story' finds a new life on DVD.

The easy access menu is simple and devoid of frills and fancies (the menu DOES get a bit tiresome, I must warn you, as it consists of seven different screens), and it gets the job done. The good thing about this compilation is that it also includes Madonna songs that were utter flops in every country they were released, such as 'Bad Girl' (one of Madonna's finest singles, but also one of her worst chart-performing) and the dismal 'Nothing Really Matters' which has a Japanese-influenced video that gave the song new life (not that this really worked well in the US, where the single peaked at No. 93 before vanishing forever into obscurity).

The ultimate tragedy however, is that Madonna's little seen video 'I want you' (a beautiful piece co-performed by Massive Attack) is also missing. This is a shame because as a work of art, that video best embodied Madonna's creative spirit. On the other hand, the DVD includes the obscure video for 'Drowned World', which was released only in Asia and Europe.

All in all, this compilation is a mixed bag. I bought it thinking that I'd be blown away, but I wasn't really. I felt a bit let down and that I didn't quite get my money's worth. Most people feel the same about this DVD, and its no big surprise. Heres hoping that the forgotten videos turn up some day on DVD, and that we'll finally be able to own Madonna's entire video catalong on DVD.

Summary: Madonna - Five stars all the time!
Review: I am a huge Madonna fan; therefore I thoroughly enjoyed this video collection. I don't want to say much though (I really don't feel like I have to). Madonna has been an undeniable influence to anyone who has ever been witness to her work, despite the controversy, bad press, and other negative influences; Madonna's work exhibits a wide range of emotions, cultural references, and at some level (depending on who you are) inspiration. Even if you do not call yourself a Madonna fan you know that at some point in time or another you found yourself liking one of her songs or videos!! Proof once more that, as Siskel and Eibert put it - "Madonna is every inch a Superstar!" So if you don't follow Madonna's career, than at the very least you can enjoy yourself by watching a master entertainer/superstar at work! VIOLA!! ENJOY!!

Summary: One of the Best!
Review: People I have to take a minute to tell you that Madonna is out of this world, and she shows it in this dvd. Her performances are awesome and the way she changes her style in all the different videos is incredible. All the songs on this are ones that everyone knows, from bad girl to beautiful stranger. A must have even if you are not a madonna fan. I highly recommend madonna's other dvd immaculate collection with all her old school songs. Lucky star and like a virgin and more. Dont hesitate on buying this dvd, you will not be dissapointed. Make it a part of your collection today.
