Summary: Remember the good old days?
Review: Yes this DVD was dedicated to the memory of Cliff Burton, but it's also a tribute to old-school Metallica. Ah... the good old days. When it was all about the music. This DVD is excellent. Some people complain about poor quality, both visual and audio, but if you consider how old the footage is (and bootlegs nontheless), you'll be amazed at the quality. After reading other reviews I expected something pretty bad. Man, was I amazed!
Yes, maybe this is not the ideal DVD to turn someone who has never heard of Metallica, but the bottom line is that if you're a true fan, you will not be dissappointed with buying this. Trust me, I'm not regretting buying this!

Summary: Excellent
Review: Some strong performances by these boys. Seeing the last moments with cliff was a truly sad thing, yet great in a way as well. Cliff by far is or was not the greatest bassist ever, his work on all metallica albums in the 80's wasnt produced that great, even though it had its kick ass moments with Anesthesia, for whom the bell tolls, and Orion. Steve Harris of Iron Maiden without a doubt is the greatest bassist ever if it came about. Your fingers dont get as fast as his on a 4 string ol fender. Still a terrific show and cliff was still an excellent bassist, extremely overrated now, but was still great.

Seeing Mustaine perform is even better, you want to talk about a great performer as well as a godly guitarist, watch mustaine crunch those riffs. Then Hammet came along, who as well plays great, but he by far is no dave mustaine and never will be, but replacing dave is beyond comprehension.

This was great, and this is when metallica were all about the music, and all about the fans. Sad to say, all that is dead now. Still we have the memories and its in this video. Get it if your a metalhead, even if you hate what metallica has become now, like me, still this was when they rocked. (Cliff RIP) Metal reigns!...

Summary: Put those devil horns in the air...
Review: Cliff Burton, possibly the all time greatest bassist in heavy metal history. Here we get to see a tribute to the late bassist from the rest of Metallica, but the real treat here is seeing Cliff himself play a few bass solos. I mean when you watch him play you will be in sheer awe, the man was inhuman! While the video quality is questionable in some parts, the sound quality sure isn't, hearing the classic lineup go through "Fade to Black", "Seek & Destroy", and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (my fave on here) is reason enough to buy this. The DVD menu is worth mentioning too, we're treated to hearing "The Thing That Should Not Be" in the background. All in all, this is a must if your an old time Metallica fan.

Summary: THE THING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN
Review: This video is indispensible for those who want to remember Metallica as the great band they once were. Featuring bootleg performances of songs from Cliff Burtons days with the band as well as photos and rare footage CLIFF EM ALL is the sort of no frills, no BS you got from Metallica before they let everything go to their heads and started releasing mediocre material. Its great to see Dave Mustaine on lead guitar early on. But all Metallica is these days is Kirk Hammett and a couple of middle aged egomaniacs. Sad really. Cliff would be turning in his grave.

Review: This is by far NOT the best of Metallica's dvd's, but it takes you back to a time when Metallica was just getting started and didn't really know what they were doing. This is old school Metallica - the true metalheads at their purest. This is one of the only productions where you get to see Cliff jamming on the bass and even Mustaine...
Cliff Burton was the best bassist Metallica had, and all of you newbies out there who only know Jason need to get this dvd more than anyone else. No other band in history comes close to producing the powerful music that Metallica has produced over the years, and this dvd takes you through their beginning. You will appreciate Metallica more than you ever imagined when you see how much they used to rock. They were the greatest band in the 80's and they are still kickin' it today. Poor video quality, but raw Metallica the way a fan would see them in concert.

Summary: Good Band But Bad Quality
Review: I am one of the biggest fans of Metallica, but this dvd has some of the [worst] video ever. It was basically recorded with a personal video camera from like 1980 or something. They put a lot of good old Metallica songs, but just [bad] footage. If you are one of those people who follow metallica through everything then get it, but if you are just one of those people who just started getting into them, dont waste your money.

Summary: "For Whom The Bell Tolls" is worth the price alone
Review: The video quality is (...) in most places, but this is still a must-buy for any METALLICA fan. The "Day on the Green" performance of For Whom The Bell Tolls is great. It's also nice to see what METALLICA was like in the early days.

Summary: Bass God...what a loss to the world
Review: A bit of high school style hi-jinks, and snowy, mono home vids.
It's wonderful to watch the evolution of Metallica from their earliest days, all the way to arena kings, yet I find myself zoning in on Cliff's fingers while he plays the Ricky, watching his intensity.
All I can say is, when I grow up, I want to BE Cliff!
