Summary: Flashback to my teens!!
Review: I was absolutely amazed when I saw this available. on DVD. It has been almost impossible just to get a VHS copy. When I saw it on Amazon, I didnt' even hesitate ordering it. As soon as I watched it, it took me right back 20 years ago when my best friend and I would watch her betamax (yep) copy over and over again, trying to pause the frame just right so that we could capture all those awesome closeups of the Fab Five we loved so much. Now, with the DVD, pausing is a breeze! I swear, I feel like I'm 17 again. The footage has transmitted to DVD awesome and the extra picture book and photos were truly amazing. It was tempting to not post them on my bedroom wall as I did back in the 80's. But, I don't think my husband would appreciate that (ha ha). So glad this is part of my collection.

Summary: AAhh the memories...
Review: I was stunned to find this rereleased on dvd. I have been debating on buying a used vhs copy, but now I have the best format. The sound and picture are great and it's like I'm 13 again. 1984 never looked so good. It's a great example of what an awesome band Duran Duran was (is) and what it took to do so many shows in such a short period of time. Arena shows are dead , but we have a beautifully shot film to remind us of the good old days. Definitely a worthwhile addition to any collection.

Summary: Not all it could have been!
Review: I'm a huge Duran Duran fan and feel guilty at not giving the Sing Blue Silver DVD a 5-star rating, but have to say I was dissapointed when I sat down to watch it last night. First off, the Duran Duran video DVD release was so packed with extras and Easter eggs that I couldn't wait to see what SBS had to offer - and found nothing. How can they release this seminal program with no extras?? The most glaring omission is 5.1 surround sound. The program itself is still amazing and made me hugely nostalgic for 1984, but EMI missed a huge opportunity to make this great program an outstanding release. I'd rather have extra footage than see the DVD packaged in a fuzzy box that's going to wind up scratched anyway.

Summary: Duran Fan? Get this Gem!
Review: If you only ever own one piece of Duran Duran memorabilia, make it this one. This "rockumentary" was made when the group was touring at the height of its popularity- in 1984. The video catalogues the North American leg of their tour. It includes priceless concert footage and a few light moments with the band backstage and on the road.What makes this video a keeper is its balance. It shows off some of the best performances of the tour- without being too heavy on stage show. Also, it gives a fun perspective on life with the band at that time, whether they were exhausted, goofing off, or promoting the tour. It captures Duran Duran as its true 1980's fans would love to always remember them- young, energetic, and with a song list full of hits. You can't bring back the arena concerts of the 80's, but you can reminisce with Sing Blue Silver!

Summary: Great DVD, slick packaging too!
Review: Its nice to see that some of the music videos and concerts that were previously available on VHS are finally being released on DVD. I hope that the 'powers that be' decide to release other cool and rare stuff like Adam & The Ants 'Prince Charming Review' on DVD. That was one great concert on VHS thats long been forgotten, and is long out-of-print! This DVD comes in a velvet box. Its pretty slick, but the tracklist on the back is not all readable due to it being printed on velvet. Argg. Hahaha. Just like their Best Of set, Duran Duran must like packing that you cant read! Contents wise, what can I say, its Sing Blue Silver, but now its digital! Yay!

Review: leave a good memorize , when they released wedding album , and getting " back in not a good situation : with someone else not me and electrical barbarella ; duran duran really play an agresive movement to huge their fans again ; this DVD ( with Arena ) is prove what they did before . Like usually , Duran Duran movies always best and artistic ; but people just waiting their new album and world tour ...............anyway Welcome Back "The Fab Five"

Summary: Unless You are a Big Fan....Skip this!
Review: Let me start out by saying I like their music and rode the various music waves of the 80,s, so I expected to like this dvd. But at close to $30.00, its clear anything to do with the music business is hyped and so is the price tag. It does however have a gloosy booklet with ALL photos of the pretty boys pouting , brooding, being Goffy etc, plus 6" by 4" glossy photos of each band member,..... So i guess if you are a BIG fan or a fan that croons at the site of them, then this would be for you. You would probably even enjoy watching them tour the FBI (why that boring tour would be included is beyond me,the whole segment is listining to the FBI guy with very few Band interactions) Im not paying for a FBI tour. The band themselves come off as regular people with decent personalities, like the kind you would find at a church social, I Guess that is appropriate since most of the girls chasing the limosine look to be about age 8-16. (Maybe the band were just tired and their energy was Low) (or maybe this tour Documentary was extremely censored). They do not have the dry humor or the wit of the Beatles, I didnt find them particuarly insightful ...or funny!
By 1984 the tour was bloated with 2 drummers, 2 soul singer women and the only time they showed ANY raw energy was during "Careless Memories". I dont know about you but I expect the performers to perform!!( to be fair , the set was very tight, the music sounded similer to the albums.....maybe too polished!!!)
Also missing was no camera views of the fret work of the musicians, no insight into the musicians and what inspired them...only Posing!!! And what is up with the fat angry guy on the phone, why would i want to look at him or listen to his personal dramas unfold?
WISH LIST: a "first tour" documentary played out in smaller venues when they still needed to work at it, and had a more raw sound, maybe some interactions with other bands they meet, some interviews about song crafting, some studio moments of the making of the RIO album. Possibly some insight regarding the "new Romantics movement in Rock"
At the end of the film it shows some ugly guy, (dont know who and dont care either)in the dressing room waving off the camera and sarcastically saying something like "its been real" as if his attitude suggests hes doing the public a favor by allowing us to see them, then it fades to black.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! ...however...
Review: Like every other Duranie reviewing this DVD, I have waited SOOO long for this to finally be available. My brother got this as my birthday gift and I was ecstatic. I watched 5 times already! I love it! As a matter of fact, I am proud to say that although I am lead vocals for a band that is as intense and as pissed off as Sex Pistols were, I am reduced to a screaming 15 year old groupie every time I watch this. However, I am quite cheesed off about one thing on this long awaited DVD. I turn my anger toward Capitol Records as I ask who (...) do you think you are? How dare you once again cut off the absolutely brilliant version of "Girls On Film"!!! If you were lucky enough to have seen this amazing 16:00 version live back during the 1983-1984 tour or heard it on various import CDs that are now floating around out there, I am sure that you will empathise with me. Why the hell did Capitol cut that song off right before Simon's kick-ass band introduction and closing verses at the end. How many more times is Capitol Records going to butcher everything that Duran Duran does? I have written a record to Capitol Records saying quite a few nasty things... maybe next I'll send them a horse's head!

Summary: Rockumentary from 1984
Review: My favorite band of all times (what started out as a teen crush quickly turned into a love for the band for life) were wise to have this stellar concert tour filmed - documentary style. This was the height of their mainstream fame, a snapshot of classic '80s. I saw the 2nd Oakland Area show back in April 1984, my first concert. I remember when this documentary played on MTV and how I watched my homemade VHS copy for years after. The behind the scenes stuff is classic and a thread of respect is paid to all the work and people power it takes to put on concert shows, especially spectacular shows such as they were! Watching this again 20 years later brought tears to my eyes. I saw D2 back in January 2004 in San Antonio and am so glad to have the chance to see them together again and see them in a smaller more personal venue, front row. Part of me is torn between wanting the recognition of 1984 for them but also enjoying the personal touch of today. Sing Blue Silver is a significant milestone for D2 and I'm so glad this was captured on film (very well filmed I might add.)

Summary: Awesome release
Review: The "Sing Blue Silver" DVD release makes up for the mediocre packagaging and confusion of the "Greatest" DVD. The DVD comes in a blue velvet-like box. I admit the design of the box does make the writing on the back a tad bit hard to read but that isn't a huge problem. Inside of the box is decent size 12 page booklet with black and white still of the group. Now comes the totally awesome extra-5 glossy black and white pictures of the group. The DVD itself is great. The picture quality is great along with the sound quality. It is great to have this film available on DVD and EMI did Duran Duran and their fans justice with this release.
