Summary: What's up with that?
Review: Okay, I'm happy to have this. It's cool to see these videos again. My only complaint is the sound. Who engineered this crap? The sound is loud at some points and low at others. The beginning of each clip is usually loud, then when the song kicks in, the sound level drops. When there's a bomb going off, that sound has been covered up because they "remastered" the sound. In "Wildside", which is the definitive Motley video in my book, the sound starts loud, gets soft, then gets loud when fire comes up beside the drums. It's really annoying. The explosions sound like fizzling bottle rockets and don't boom like they used to. "Home Sweet Home" has been dubbed over with that cruddy '91 Decade of Decadence remake. It really loses some of the original magic when they do that. It doesn't sound right the whole way through, plus you can't hear the little hi-hat thing at the end. I think the picture quality and menus and extras are as good as can be expected. But the whole point of this dvd is music, and fooling around with the sound and not paying attention to detail is where they dropped the ball.

Summary: How to view the DVD's hidden features
Review: On Mötley Crüe's latest DVD release, 'Greatest Video Hits,' the band has hidden a few real gems for their fans. Here is how to bring them out to shine.

Go to the DVD's Main Menu and highlight the menu entry 'Set Up.' Now, press the following key sequence using the directional keys on your remote control - up, up down, up, own, left and right. You will now have the change to watch a video to 'Shout At The Devil '97'

The second Easter Egg is found on the 'Damn Video' page. Go to the second page of the section and highlight the entry that says '1-7.' Now press the following key sequence - down, right, up, left, up, right and down. This will allow you to view the 'Public Enemy #1' video.

The third hidden video is located in the 'Extra Crap' section of the disc. From there go to the 'Discography' and select the 'Operation Swine' album. Once there, highlight the menu entry that reads 'Next' and the hit the 'Up' key on your remote control three times. A pentagram appears and if you press 'Enter' now you will have the chance to witness the video 'Shout '97.

Summary: MOTLEY DVD RULES! plus hidden stuff!
Review: Some people had a hard time finding this dvd, as it got confused with the box set in some stores, etc, but I just got it and it is awesome! Videos aren't in chronological order, but you can do a playlist thing and people are finding hidden features, so maybe there is a way of getting them to play in order. Who knows? Anyway, this dvd is incredible and for the people disappointed that Take Me To the Top and Public Enemy #1 weren't included..... cry no more! They are hidden (pretty damn well too) on the disc, plus a VIDEO for Shout At The Devil '97. Here's basically how to access these easter eggs -

1. Take Me To The Top
While on Main Page
Place Curser on Set-up
U,U,D,U,D,L,R

2. Public Enemy # 1
While on page 2 of Choose a Damn Video
Place Cursor on 1-7 (Looks that Kill is Playing)
D,R,U,L,U,R,D

3.Shout 97
Go to Extra Crap
Go To Discography
Go To Generation Swine
Place Cursor on Next
U,U,U
Push Play on the Pentagram that appears

Hope this helps some of you out there!

Summary: AMAZING CRUE HITS!!!
Review: That's simply amazing! A must for every Crue fan! I also have the "VH1-Behind The Music" and the "Lewd Crued & Tattooed" dvds, but this one is really the ultimate video collection for the greatest rock'n roll band on the planet! The 5.1 mix is awesome and I haven't experienced any problem with synch and volume (except for 1 second of Vince's voice raising up abnormally on "Wild Side"). The videos are great, the animated menus are very cool and the extras (interview with Nikki and Tommy, alternate versions, hidden videos) are over the top! Compared to this one, the Poison's "greatest video hits" is good for a laugh (I can say it, 'cause I have this too). Forget any doubt and order this piece of music (and video) history! You won't regret... MOTLEY CRUE ARE STILL KICKIN' ASS!

Summary: A no-brainer for fans to own
Review: The dvd is about as good as it could be for 80's rock fans. That's why I gave it five stars for its type of music. Most all of their good songs were included in this dvd in the form of videos. I felt like I was watching the MTV of old, ya know, the one that played music videos...The sound cranks too - very clear. Maybe the coolest part of it for me is the "play-by-play" given by Tommy and Nikki about some of their videos in an extra feature. Anyway, it's cool and for those who dig Crue music and videos, it's really impossible to not enjoy it.

Summary: Horrible volume problems ruin the DVD
Review: The volume abruptly fades in and out throughout the entire DVD -- including all the videos and menus. I tried changing players, sound (Dolby 5.1 to Dolby std), nothing makes a difference. I thought it was just my copy until I read some of the other reviews. Even my old VHS copy of Decade Of Decadence gets the sound right.

Is this a mastering problem, or a manufacturing problem? I can't believe they would intentionally release something this obviously wrong.

This should have been the definitive Motley DVD. All the videos, new interviews, etc. What a disappointment.

THE CRÜE STILL KICKS ASS.

Summary: The uncensored version
Review: This DVD contains ALL the Crüe's videos. From Too Fast For Love to New Tattoo (including such gems as Live Wire, Looks That Kill, Wild Side, Dr. Feelgood, Kickstart My Heart, Primal Scream, Eslaved or Hell On High), there's nothing missing here (expet maybe the unreleased videos for Take Me To The Top or Public Ennemy # 1, but what the hell, we're getting really spoiled at this point). The bonus are quite cool too, including alternative and uncensored versions of some videos like Girls Girls Girls or Primal Scream and a brand new interview with Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee comenting the videos. Now, it would be nice if Amazon was more specific about the items, so we could be sure that this is the uncensored version, but since the DVD picture shows a expicit content logo and this version is more expensive than the other, I guess we can be sure this is the devinitive one. This is the perfect DVD addition to your Crüe collection (much more than the VH1 Behind The Music or the Lewd Crewd Tattooed live DVD's). And this will just go to show that 80's hair metal bands were surely a little ridiculous, but at least they did communicate somme good and fun vibrations. No self pitty or resignation here.
Long Live the Crüe (By the way, excuse my english : I speak french).

Summary: I love this....This DVD only gets better...
Review: This DVD has it all. It contains ALL the Crüe videos...Even those that fans complained weren't on it thanks glittrkidz. Accessing these "secret" videos is like doing Nintendo contra like cursor actions from back in the days. This DVD just gets better and better...I wonder how many more secrets are undiscovered...the risqué clad women is no secret :)...wink wink... :) I would highly recommend this classy piece of historic documentary...Big hair, naked women, and Rock 'n Roll forever...
