Summary: Don't Be Hung Up On The Censorship
Review: To the few people who complained about the cuss words being bleeped out, get real. Don't let that stand in the way of enjoying some of hip-hop's most creative videos. It was obviously their choice not to have the cuss words. I'm glad that they didn't , because I can sit down with my 4 and 8 year old and enjoy this DVD. If you want to hear the cuss words so bad, listen to the CD's.

Summary: Buy This And Play It Loud
Review: This is an awesome collection of videos from the world's most creative and talented act in the history of hip-hop. The picture quality and sound can't be beat. I wish they put a few more songs on there though. Like "Skills To Pay The Bills". That's a great song and video.

Review: A great DVD for sure, but remember if you just like one song from this extensive collection, than its merits(multiple remixs and angles) will go to waste IF YOU ARE A MEDIUM TO BIG FAN YOU MUST OWN THIS everyone else should play around with it at their friends houses because interest will be purely casual DAVID

Summary: Almost perfect.
Review: There are two annoying parts of this DVD. The first one, is the cencorship. They should not have beeped out the curse words on the songs (I'm glad I still have my "skills" video). This is so annoying, that I almost want to return the DVD. Second, is that there is nothing from Licsensc to Ill on it. That's more understandable, because maybe they didn't want to pay the kickback to Def Jam. Still, that hardly makes it a complete anthology. These points aside...it is still a great DVD for any BBoy fan.

Summary: STAGGERING
Review: An achievement of frankly epic magnitude. The DVD format was invented to present material as well put together and planned as this. The B Boys should know that they have presented many of their fans (since i was 10 years old) with perhaps the best statement yet of what they are all about - creativity, sponataneity, excitement. As some readers have stated it's a shame there wasn't more room for more video, but you can only have so much of a good thing. I'd like to see Country Mike in a sequel...perhaps a little more Paul's Boutique material. But I loved it. And what's with the censored stuff? Hmmmm!!! It's decided - humour DOES belong in music. Large screen tv + surround + good friends + anthology = good times.

Summary: Beastie Boys fan or not, a MUST HAVE DVD!
Review: I'm a longtime fan of the Beasties, so the content of this DVD does interest me. But even if you don't care for the music, Beastie Boys DVD Anthology - Criterion Collection is a must see for any DVD fan. There are enough video angles, song remixes and audio commentary tracks (which is the most disappointing aspect of this release...it is basically the guys sayin' silly things) to keep you busy for at least a month. The song remixes and a cappella versions are especially fun to listen to. I've had the DVD since Christmas and haven't even come close to seeing the entire thing! Much love to MCA for putting such special care into this DVD. It's fabulous!

Summary: Like others had technical problems with this DVD
Review: I got this DVD as an Xmas gift and as far as technical features it's incredible. One of the best music DVD's I have seen and one of the few DVD's period to take full advantage of all the capabilities of the DVD format. However, like a couple of other people have mentioned, I have been having problems with it. On "So What'cha Want" when trying to play the remix audio tracks, the video starts to freeze. I'm hoping it's only this particular copy of the disk or my parents' DVD player (although it's brand new and has no problems playing any other dics) but I'm defintiely going to have to exchange it. Very disappointing.

Summary: Almost the perfect Beastie DVD
Review: I wish Def Jam Records would have aloud this DVD to include the "Licence to Ill" tracks. It is a great DVD as it is, but I would love to see this DVD include "Brass Monkey", "Girls", "Fight for your Right", and "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn". If you enjoy the Beastie Boys later stuff then this is the DVD for you. It is loaded with videos and special features from "Paul's Boutique", "Check Your Head", "Ill Communication", and "Hello Nasty". One of my favorite options is being able to watch the videos with different remixes of the songs. I love the "free zone remix" of "Root Down" and this DVD allows me to watch the video of "Root Down" with that version. This is a definite must for any Beastie fan with a DVD player.

Summary: Amazing DVD loaded with features
Review: If you are just getting a DVD player for Christmas, it would be both good and bad to get this as one of your first DVD's; good because it's got so many extra goodies on it, like multiple camera angles, audio tracks, remixes, and so-forth, it is a great way to see first-hand what the DVD medium is capable of and what your new DVD player can do; bad because it raises the bar so high that you'll wish every DVD that was released was as carefully and lovingly put together as this one, and sadly, that's just not the case. Leave it to the Beastie Boys, pioneers in hip hop ("Paul's Boutique" still sounds years ahead of it's time), pioneers in video, and now pioneers in DVD.
