Summary: Rust Never Sleeps
Review: ... 1 word.... "Killer!". The best of both worlds in this DVD, as Neil starts the 1st half on his accoustic. The second half he shows his true talent by pulling out the electric. This DVD is a must buy for an Neil fan, simply sends chills down your spine...... O' Canada....

Summary: The Horse was Not Spooked on This Night in San Francisco!
Review: ... The Horse was Not Spooked on This Night in San Francisco! ... This concert / live album / movie is a perfect
statement of how to present a rock concert as a mythic event that combines high-tech art with the tribal stomp of the audience as the classic chorus. ... Neil Young mastered his musicianship in serving The Muse with this quintessential blending of the FOLK of Bob Dylan with the ROCK AND ROLL of The Rolling Stones. ... This music ROCKS! ... The music is enhanced by the humorous and mysterious stage antics of THE ROADEYES! ... I LOVE watching them DANCE with glee and carefree abandon all around the stage / set as Neil & Crazy Horse belt out one soulful and passionate song after another. ... Cortez The Killer is TRANSCENDENT, and Like A Hurricane is a pure EPIPHANY! ... Also, the solo guitar / harmonica / piano pieces that Neil does all alone by himself lend soulful beauty and dynamic contrast to the whole event. ... This film is a classic. Don't miss it! ... YOWZA! - The Aeolian Kid

Summary: Imagnative show with a great performance
Review: .
If you want to know why Crazy Horse has been called the World's Greatest Garage Band, this will tell you why. This is a fun, hard rocking concert: Neil plays some of his best songs on this one, mostly backed by Crazy Horse, but also some solo acoustic classics. Neil is spot on with his leads and his energy, and it's a great set. If you haven't seen it yet, you'll also be pleased by some very imaginative touches here and there. (Don't want to ruin any surprises for you.) One negative, if you've been spending time watching "The Last Waltz" and "Stop Making Sense," you'll be disappointed by the picture, which is pretty grainy compared to those videos. But still a great one to own.

Summary: vintage Neil Young
Review: A great selection of songs. The picture could have been a little clearer and didn't like the goonies with the hoods he used on stage, I guess it was a good idea at the time (maybe Star Wars). For better sound and visual I recommend 'Red Rocks Live'. If you are reading this Neil and there's a good chance you're not, next time you are performing in Toronto and the sound F***s up please stop and give them a chance to fix it, there I got it off my chest. Neil you're still the best around (had some of my best highs with your music). This dvd is well worth the small investment. You get to see him in 1979 at the prime of his career. Neil mellows you out with such songs as 'Sugar mountain', 'I am a child', 'Comes a time', 'After the gold rush',and then blasts you away with 'When you dance I can really love', 'Cinnamon girl', 'Like a hurricane and 'Hey hey, my my (into the black).

Summary: ESSENTIAL
Review: Any fan of rock'nroll should own this. It is ESSENTIAL. Why isn't this on DVD? For that matter, why is ON THE BEACH and TIME FADES AWAY still unreleased? Where is the Archive boxset? Ooops, I got carried away............ BTW, Cinnamin Girl contains the best guitar solo EVER.
PUT IT OUT ON DVD NEIL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Hey Hey My My!
Review: Classic Neil Young out on DVD at last. Great versions of Sugar Mountain, Powderfinger, Tonights the Night - in fact they're all great. The picture is grainy but thats the way Neil likes it and its better than sterile MTV vids. Only drawbacks are the irritating 'Roadeyes', the gimmicky stage set and the reggae-ised Cortez the Killer.

The DVD extras aren't bad either, good photo album and nice to have the lyrics, but a directors commentary would have been nice.

Any chance of a live CSNY DVD from the last tour Neil?

Summary: A Treasure!!
Review: From accoustic to electric, 1978 Neil Young all the way. With Dolby Digital 5.0 plus 2.0 AND DTS, this is and aways will be an amazing concert experience. "Like a Hurricane" can only be experienced by standing up.....wow---a rare treat done so well on DVD.....I missed my dinner by 2 hours planning to watch just a couple songs---beginning to end this is sheer pleasure.

Summary: Neil Young and Crazy Horse - long may you run
Review: From the album of the same name. If you liked that album, you've got to see this video. Neil Young and Crazy Horse dwafted by two-story speakers and microphone. It's one song right after another with only occasional interuptions by his "Roadeyes" scurrying around the stage changing setups. Whether it's acoustic you like or guitar blasting electric, this video has it. Songs like, THRASHER, POWDERFINGER or CINNAMON GIRL keep things moving right along. Photography and direction are excellent in this video considering the complexity of filming a live concert. Lighting is also right up there. This video is the next best thing to being there!

Summary: There's more to THIS picture than meets the eye
Review: I haven't seen this movie in years and, like the other reviewers, only wanted to see one or two songs but could not stop watching! It is the rock n' roll dream that I fell asleep to nightly come true with it's fantasy 'road eyes' waking up a sleepy child-like Neil among oversized anvil cases who roams the stage grinning and mumbling only to fall asleep again at the sets end as if he never was awake. The electric set becomes even more surreal as a pinhead and mad scientist in white lab coat join in with the woodstock soundtrack blaring behind them. I get goosebumps when Neil breaks into 'Sedan Delivery' while the mad doctor fixes his mike! I know there's philosophy and magic to this film, I just can't properly describe it! See it for yourself....

Summary: The past is back
Review: I saw this show back in the late 70's it was his best show. The theme is a bit dated now, but then it was a laugh. The song selection you will never see again, any Neil Young fan its a must buy."Sugar Mountain"still put chills down my spine.
