Summary: g3 mania
Review: This stuff is the [best] ,the three best instrumentilists of 1996 all in one concert (the names are joe satriani, steve vai and my personal favourite eric johnson) with a biography for each of them , including the finally with all three Gs playing together in jimmi hendrix's very own RED HOUSE also going down and my guitar wnts to kill tour mama( also one of my favourites). if you like instrumentals like i do this is a must buy.you can even choose whatsong you wnt to listen to. I only gave it 4 stars because the song selection is very limited and u can't really hear the voices too well.

Summary: biggest disappointment of any DVD I've ever purchased
Review: I've seen Satriani and Johnson live, and I have to say this video captures NONE of the good energy or stage presence these men possess. The song selection is very questionable. Not nearly as much/many pyrotechnics as I'd expect from these players. The video recording quality is low, and there are surprisingly few sustained close-ups of the picking and fretting. Eric Johnson's guitar was mixed WAY too low! Sounds like he's 10 dB lower than the other two. I had really high hopes, because I know what these guys are capable of. EXTREMELY disappointed. (And although Eric Johnson is probably my favorite of the three... as an SRV fan, I was really perplexed with EJ's "tribute" to Stevie. I'd have expected him to include a few borrowed SRV licks or in some way try to "channel" some of SRV's feel/sound/attitude. Nothing in the song made me thing of Stevie except Eric's spoken introduction/dedication.)

This one goes up for sale soon. I had such high hopes...

Summary: Encore please!!!
Review: Satriani has such an awesome on-stage/album song energy, if you closed your eyes you would think you were listening to an album demo version of these songs! As for Johnson? Someone throw a Beer at him! It was like he was in studio, he didn't mess up once! The only complaint I could make about him, is that his song "SRV" was nothing like Stevie Ray Vaughan's style. And Vai? Well, I saw Him and Satriani in Chicago at their last "G3" tour, and I can understand why people like him, but Satriani and Petrucci were so much cleaner, and their songs had much more feeling than his did. That's the way it was their and it's the way it is on here. Still, he's fun to watch mess around on stage, and he's really good at entertaining and including the audience in his performances. Very nice video, even nicer concert!

Summary: Very Good
Review: This is a very good performance, but Joe Satriani is much better on his own DVD. The sound on this recording could be better mixed, however, Eric Johnson is absolutely fantastic!! I only wish Eric would release his own DVD. If you are a guitarist or guitar fan of rock or jass-rock fusion you will greatly enjoy this recording. However, be prepared, the performances are short.

Review: Dude this concert is really great. 2 well known guitar players made a great dvd. FÝrst I bought the audio but it's not enough. Especially Steve Vai is the best. His guitar playing is amazing. Man it's 2 words. BUY THIS

Summary: Awesome guitar playing, bad mixing
Review: As a guitar player, I love this tape. Satch, Vai and Johnson all on one video, and every player leaves me with my jaw on the ground everytime i watch it. HOWEVER, maybe its just my tape, but the mixing for Steve Vai's set and the jam at the end is just plain horrid. During Vai's set, his backup guitarist can't be heard very well, except on The Attitude Song. Vai's guitar is barely audible during the jam at the end. Too bad, because what you can hear is awesome. Satch and Johnson come through very loud, and Vai can just barely be heard. I repeat, this is only at the end. Other than that, by far one of the best videos I own and can watch over and over again without really getting bored. Buy this tape!! Especially for 10 bucks!

Review: Buy it. Take it home. Listen to it. Watch it. The quality will strike you first. Sounds good, looks good. No frills.

The performances though will not settle in for a while. Be patient. Joe is confident. Eric still is asking for forgiveness. Steve is as brash as he was at Berklee.

The key to a good performance is the audience wanting more. I did.

Summary: Virtuosos with feeling
Review: These are the kind of guys that make guitar playing look so simple... It's almost impossible to pick any of them as the best of this trio, because their styles are so well defined that you can feel how different each talk with his instrument. Great work of Eric Johnson, who is more focused in the harmonies of his music that in shredding speed, and gives a great balance to the whole thing. What a cool Red House cover, Eric!
