Summary: Great DVD!! But...
Review: I miss the hell out of my favorite drummer...Vinny Appice. I love the Killing The Dragon album and think Simon Wright has done an outstanding job on the drum tracks but he is no Vinny Appice and in fact leaves out a lot of Vinny's signature drum licks that those early Dio songs crave ie Stand Up And Shout. Killing The Dragon, Rock n Roll and Push are great tunes and great drums by Simon, but I miss Vinny so damn bad it hurts. Luckily, we have the Sacred Heart Tour Live On DVD coming out this year and possibly some more Dio delights coming our way as I read on a Black Sabbath related website that Dio is currnetly going through a ton of stuff from the Dio archives for release on DVD. Perhaps Time Machine and Live at The Spectrum will finally see the light of day on DVD. This is a good start and would strongly suggest that you buy it, but just be careful in knowing that Vinny is not the drummer and you will have to be content with Simon, who does a good job in my opinion, but he is not Vinny.

Summary: Dio still has it and then some.
Review: I only give this four stars because of a couple of throw away songs in the set list. Its great to see Ronnie still singing Children of the Sea and Egypt (the Chains are On) but he could have chosen a couple of better songs from the last two albums. This is a really good concert though and its great to know that he is still touring and making albums. Another charity project is in the works for 2005.

Summary: great dvd
Review: I thought it was a great job. So many songs to pick, I would have liked to seen Stargazer or Gates of Babylon. Can't have everything, or can I? Concert footage was a bit grainy so hope the next one is shot straight to video. Kinda liked the quality on the sacred heart. The dolby sound is great!! Crank it up!!

Summary: My two bits worth...
Review: I was pleasantly surprised by this DVD. Yes, the picture quality could be better and the delays on the drum solo portion are annoying. But I was most concerned with two things when I bought this. Was Dio's voice going to sound like junk when he's around sixty years old now and was his guitar player going to kinda suck? Both of my worries were put to rest. Dio sounds great and so does the guitarist Doug Aldridge (I have no idea who he is but Dio has a knack for finding good ones). Aldridge plays almost everything to the level of Vivian Campbell quality and the sound production is amazing. I don't know about that Kenny G fellow he had before, though. It's good that he doesn't play on here. As one pompous guy from England put it "Dio's guitarist sounds like a rank amateur". Thankfully, no one can say that about Doug Aldridge found on this compilation. Aldridge doesn't quite get the little "chirp" that Campbell gets at the end of the solo on Rainbow in the Dark, but it's pretty darn close. I've heard recordings from Campbell live in concert before (like "Intermission") and it sounds kinda crappy. Overall then, this DVD is well worth it to a Dio fan.

Summary: Poor video, good sound, wonderful performance.
Review: I'm just siting at home and watching the first DVD of Dio. My feelings are apparted. Like many of you wrote above, poor video of this stuff is making me sick! Why do they done it to Ronnie and his all stars band. Great guitar and drum work is destroyed by editor (terminator?). It's sucks!!!

Summary: Sight Unseen
Review: I'm viewing this on two things; firstly is the fact that when I walk through any dvd store and head for the music section and I see the people who ACTUALLY have "music dvds" and RONNIE wasn't among them it is a crime against the industry, God, and any other bad cliche one could dream up. To think that the very person who practically defines metal (wisdom, melody, fantasy) didn't have a dvd and acts like Ozzy have multiple discs is laughable. Do not misunderstand, I think the Oz is great but it almost seems fitting in this day and age to not have a dvd out by someone who actually has a hand, make that ARM, (producing, writing, performing) in their own material.

Secondly, the set list. There are Dio cd's I do not like fortunately he doesn't dabble in those eras and does his very best to please everyone, old and new fans... and brought to us in 5.1 is just a slamdunk. I would have preffered Craig Goldy on this, but one cannot have everything.

I have been waiting for a Dio dvd since I got my first dvd player in the summer of '97. It amazes me that it has taken 6 years for it to happen, but then when music TV shows pass as "making it" in the industry, maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised.

Summary: The Undisputed Greatest Metal Vocalist
Review: I've seen Ronnie many times through the years. He is, without a doubt, the most talented and durable vocalist ever. Ronnie James Dio is metal!! We should thank him for his undying loyalty to us, the fans. The DVD is awesome!!

Summary: HOLY DIO
Review: In a few words, this DVD is the bomb!! Picture and sound quality are second to none and as RJD does, everything is first class. Awesome DVD!!!!
