Summary: Transcendent, cathartic, soul-shaking rock
Review: Wow! This concert, quite simply, is the best ever captured on film. It will move you, excite you, rock you and drain you. It's the perfect antidote to terror, to tedium and to the daily insanities that we all face.U2 already had a powerful message before Sept. 11, born in the troubles in Ireland, expanded by their decades of seeking out truth and opposing despair, prejudice and destruction. U2 has been the most influential, most meaningful band of the past 20 years, singing powerfully of love, hate, war, terrorism, famine and simple pop happiness too. They have the whole repertoire, and it's amply on display here. But for me, the band has taken on a new, powerful meaning given the enormity of the Sept. 11 tragedy. Listening to Stuck in a Moment and New York are eerie now; they have an uncanny resonance effect. The fact that the show was filmed months before the World Trade Center towers collapsed somehow does not matter -- they had the message all along, but not enough were listening. When Bono strikes up, "How long, how long must we sing this song" on Sunday Bloody Sunday, we feel it much more in our guts than we ever did before Sept. 11. How long indeed. Lyrically strong, rhythmically solid, signaturally U2, this is just a great DVD -- a brutal exposing of the shallow nature of the other pop acts out their right now. The DVD has a lot of great songs, and it looks fabulous on film. The lighting especially is right on.
As others mention, the editing is far too herky-jerky. Remember, the band picked a guy who had only done awards shows prior to this -- where keeping a fickle TV audience's attention is paramount. Mr. Hamish needs to realize that people who buy the DVD aren't going to switch the channel, and give us a chance to savor the band.
And, as in every live show, not every performance is rock solid. Bono's voice goes in and out a few times. But these are minor quibbles. The highlight of the DVD is, without a doubt, "Where the Streets have no name" -- the song that was played live during the NBA Finals. It's absolutely gorgeous, the band is pumped and the sound quality is unsurpassed. There is magic in the air, and it comes right through your speakers and into your heart. BTW, anyone else notice that the Britney/NSYNC/Backstreet era has crashed and burned? Pop songs and war generally do not go hand in hand. U2 is one of those bands that can thrive in any environment, and we need them now more than ever. Peace.

Review: Watch this movie and realize why U2 is the best band on the planet. Of course, this awesome movie cannot convey the sheer presence that the band has in real life. The footage cannot do the concert justice, and that is saying a lot... because this DVD frikkin ROCKS!! Be moved by Bono's soul, be awe-struck by Edge's amazing "bell-ringing" guitar, feel the funk of Adam's posh bass action, drool over Larry's drums, and give him all the credit for putting this insurmountable band together! This is U2 now, this is U2 live and doing what they do best. If you kinda like the band, get this DVD. If you love this band, you probably already have it. If you don't like this band, go to the doctor and have your ears checked out!!

Review: Well I brought this dvd a few days after it came out,i thought, and still do think that it is very good, but as many people may know that there were a few songs CUT from this concert
I donwloaded the concert of the internet, and the songs that were cut,
they are : Mystreoius ways, in my life, pride, people get ready
and one, well the DVD is like that in austrlia anyway!
theres also allot of Bono talking cut out of the dvd, but still its VERY good dvd, i hope that dreamchaser finally bring out Popmart and Zoo Tv on DVD too

Review: I am very selective in buying musical concert DVDs. I experience the U2 elevation tour last year, and this DVD captures the experience from Boston quite well. While it is not the same as being there, it gives you a great idea of what U2 did in this new concert tour, and how they completely catered to the crowd, and not to the big stadiums as they have done in the past. What is the point of going to a concert and being a metric mile away from the action? None. This DVD does a great job of bringing a concert goer back to the experience, or for someone who missed U2 when they came to town, a first glimpse at a great tour. Bravo

Summary: 'Fake' stuff going on...
Review: Beautiful Day is an awesome song, yes? But on this DVD, you can hear 'Bono' doing the backup, while the 'Edge' is actually attempting to fool the audience by lipping Bono's words. If you ask me, it looks retarded. What the hell were they thinking?
Anyway, everything else is real. On surround, you have to pay attention to your center speaker, because if you don't 'increase' the volume, the performance drowns out Bono on nearly every 5.1 or DTS setting that you may have. I love U2, and thought that I would be getting a newer and amazing dvd; however, I got the shaft on this one.
Do yourself a favor and go purchase yourself a DVD, but make sure its a movie. Ha!

Summary: In a word, Breathtaking.
Review: For any fan of music, love, or life, this is a fantastic DVD. New to U2? A fan since the Boy album? It dosen't matter--this is U2 at their best: raw, uncensored emotion with drama and screaming and preaching and playing some of the most famous songs of the past twenty-two years. It's an essential for any U2 fan, but even if U2 isn't your favorite band (gasp), you'll enjoy this. As for the Elevation tour itself: in a nutshell, it is U2 realizing that they are a rock band, and they know how to do rock, and make it look good. The in-your-face challange of the satus quo is still there as in The Joshua tree, but the glitter and glam of PopMart has been left behind. (ha ha, terrible pun.) The filmmaking of the DVD is also fantastic. It's almost better than actually being at the concert. Just the same, as much as we love him, all the on-screen time is not devoted to the lovely Bono. Edge, Larry and Adam also get good, but not over-done, portions of the film. The night this DVD was recorded, the actual concert was fantastic. Because of that, that special connection that U2 can have with an audience, it makes the DVD exponentially better. Is that even possible? THIS is what turned me into a U2 fanatic. In a word, it's Breathtaking. Get it. Stop thinking about it. Get it. In the words of Bono, "The goal is soul."

Review: U2 is one of the great rock bands of all time and their best music from the late eighties and early nineties like "The Joshua Tree" and "Achtung Baby" stand up to the best music we have been offered so far in the new decade. And their latest, "All That You Can't Leave Behind" surely was one of the best albums 2001 had to offer. The Elevation Tour was a great show stopper that has now been captured on film in one of the best concert films I have seen in a long time. It looks and feels epic and the band still shows they can set the night on fire. The editing is exhilarating, especially during the hard edge moments in great songs like "Until The End Of The World" and "Bullet The Blue Sky." Bono proves once again he is one of the best frontmen in rock n' roll and never ceases to be wild, poetic or meditative, even witty. The Edge rocks the house with his always amazing guitar playing and shows off his unique signature sound. A lot of the songs are gems, especially "Elevation," an exhilarating romantic tune that sometimes can bring reminders of Doors songs like "Hello I Love You" or "Light My Fire." "Bullet The Blue Sky" is a blast, powerful and stunning. There is a great shot of Bono stepping out when The Edge plays the opening sonic blast flashing the American flag interior of his leather jacket. One of the funnest performances is "The Fly" where it appears Bono bites a fan's wrist, he then plasters himself on a neon wall and gives off the impression of a swatted bug. "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is a nice trip back to the 80's U2 and it still sounds great. The entire video is just stunning to look at with the intricate lighting and the enormous audience. Here U2 shows why they still sell and reach out to millions of fans and new listeners. Yes, there are a few tunes I wish they left in like the always alluring "Mysterious Ways," but oh well, that's why you can just download it off the internet. This is one [great] concert!

Review: If you are a U-2 fan, just buy it. Do not contemplate your decision. You will not be disappointed. It will charge up your life, especially if you in a boring area. I saw U-2 on this tour, sat close, but the DVD is better.

Review: If you are reading this then you are interested. I was lucky enough to see U2 during this tour and it was wonderful. Probably the best concert experience in a long time. This DVD is a pleasant reminder of that experience.
It is loaded and full of fun. Turn it up loud and enjoy.
