Summary: Its an mtv music video, not a concert!
Review: This is not concert video footage, its more like still photos with music (the music is great though!). The Video editing is absolutely annoying! I totally agree with Michael Behuniak's review, that this is a great concert RUINED by hackneyed camara work. I really can't believe that U2 released this DVD without first viewing it themselves.

Summary: GREAT STUFF -- THE ESSENCE OF LIVE PERFORMANCE!
Review: After reading what others have said about this concert footage (and I agree with some of it), I feel that too many people have focused on what this concert is NOT (Not post 9/11, not including some "necessary" songs, etc.) and not focused properly on what it IS -- a snapshot of one of the greatest bands of all time.

I am a musican and can tell you that there is nothing that equals the thrill of the live event, and it is captured beautifully here.

What gets me though, is that no matter how much these guys are paid and how many concerts they have done, they are carried along by the crowd's enthusiams that it actually makes the concert that much better. . . I love the (in my opinion) all-to-seldom shots of the band interacting (sometimes with just a look or two) during the tunes or right after. Nice to hear The Edge get a chance to sing a bit -- the duets he and Bono do are great!

My standout favorites - "Gone"/"Stay"/"Bad"/"Streets" sequence.

Great stuff -- go buy it!

Summary: Proof that U2 is still one of the best bands in the world
Review: You can divide this concert into three parts: the songs, the stage, and the way it was filmed. The stage design --- the heart-shaped loop and the lights --- are just about perfect. Coming off of the gigantic (and slightly silly) PopMart tour, U2 switched to something approaching "stripped down." The audience gets a lot of big screens, an impressive light show, and a walkway to get closer to the band, but that's about it. It's nice to see a modest stage.

The songs are the best part of the concert. These guys a very good at picking a set list. They included the best song from the Pop album ("Gone") and then they play the best *part* of another Pop song. Their choices from the pre-Joshua Tree days are excellent ("Bad" and "I Will Follow"). The rest of the set list draws from the best three albums: Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and All That You Can't Leave Behind. The fans must have been satisfied hearing everything from "Bullet the Blue Sky" to "Beautiful Day." (And the Achtung Baby songs are still their best.)

Then there's the way it was all filmed. I've read some complaints, but it's not that bad. In the making-of documentary, the director accurately describes himself as less-than-visionary --- he just shoots it and hopes he doesn't screw it up. He relies on the same techniques used by concert video directors from the last 10 or 15 years: too many cuts, pointless shots of lights and screen images, and too much focus on the singer. But he doesn't jar you with cuts so fast that you get annoyed. You get a good feel for the size of the arena. You see the stage and see close-ups of the band. (I doubt the other members of the band wanted a lot of attention on them, anyway.)

If you're a U2 fan, you'll love this. The band remembered what made them so good in the first place (their music) and they made sure the concert focused on that. If you aren't into U2, this might make you into a fan. Unlike the Rolling Stones, U2 is aging gracefully, still releasing relevant music and taking quite a few chances along the way.

Summary: Exciting And Memorable
Review: Is there possibly a bigger band in the world than U2? They remain as vital and productive today as they did in the 80's. Their albums continue to sell millions worldwide and their songs still become staples of popular culture. The Elevation Tour was a return to smaller-scale touring for the band, after the behemoth outings of the Zoo TV and Popmart tours. Bono is no longer The Fly here, he is just plain Bono and The Edge isn't dressed in psychedelic cowboy garb. Though the stage set is still stunning (it is composed of a giant heart that glows at times) and the lighting is equally evocative, what really stands out here is the music and performances. "Elevation" from the "All That You Can't Leave Behind" album opens with exhilarating flavor, it's a catchy melody with a driving guitar and Bono immediately grabs our attention. Hits like "Beautiful Day" with it's soaring chorus and "Until The End Of The World" with it's Biblical code and apocalyptic guitar follow. But do I really need to tell you about the songs? Probably not, it's a good bet those purchasing this disc already own the albums and know in detail just how wonderful the guitar melody of "With Or Without You" is. The performance here is what counts and it's great, Bono is thoughtful and jumpy while the entire band plays to their fullest. The camera work takes you into the concert, literally takes you into the crowd (Disc 2 has a ground level view option). The editing perfectly creates a mood for the songs, "Gone" for example is shot with exhilarating flavor which is of course enhanced by the almost psychedelic lighting of the concert. Memorable moments include Bono's new raps during "Bullet The Blue Sky" and a Ramones cover, not to mention a more stripped-down, crowd-gathering version of "Desire." There are a few missing standars one wishes were present such as "Mysterious Ways" and their "Even Better Than The Real Thing." All in all, "Live From Boston" serves as a memorable record of one of U2's most professional, intimate tours.

Summary: Awesome Concert DVD
Review: After going weird in their POP tour, this tour was much more simple for U2, and it shows in this DVD. Their sound is just awesome, as is the coverage of the crowd - which I like to see in a DVD - make you feel like you are there. They play some of their best songs in this concert, and look like they are having fun doing it. If you are even a casual U2 fan, this is definately worth buying.

Summary: Elevating!
Review: This DVD is great! The concert is fantastic, you feel like you're in the hall! There's one song missing (in my opinion) - One. But I still love it. A real must-have for U2 fan (but not only). The second disc maybe colud be better but it is still very good. You have to remember that the most important is disc 1, whicz is awesome! I don't regret any given penny.

Summary: "bonus" dvd a waste
Review: I wish I could have just bough the Boston concert; the bonus dvd is (...) (a waste for even die hard fans like myself)--a bunch of snippets of junk and the same Boston concert all over again from a different angle--bid deal! The only reason they have a "bonus" dvd is to get you to spend an extra 10 bucks.

Summary: Like actually being there!
Review: The makers of this DVD tried to make watchers feel like being at a real U2-concert. And they really did a good job! When watching the concert you really feel the atmosphere of a night at a U2 performance in a huge stadium. The sound is great, the shots are just swell and the performance of the band is beyond words. A 'must' for Die-hard U2 freaks! Get it! It's awesome!
