Rating: Summary: Concert featuring songs by Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber Review: Great music, great artists. A delight for music lovers everywhere
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC! Review: This video captured the very best of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music. It was a very impressive show which exhibited the great talent of all the performers, who made the show so enjoyable. Especially liked the selections from Evita. Don't miss this!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding with a surprising performance by Banderas Review: This is a video that I almost did not purchase because I read that it featured Antonio Banderas, whose performance in the last five years I did not like. However as a Lloyd Webber admirer I decided to give it a try. To my surprise Banderas was very good with the Evita themes (his latin accent enhanced his role) and did well with Phantom, although I feel that for this theme the producers should have picked a stronger performer. Sarah Brightman was as good as always although her Pie Jesu seemed strained when compared to previous ocasions. Michael Ball was superb as Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and Glenn Close was the best of all with her outsanding performance as Norma in the Sunset Bulevar themes. All the other artists were good and since I do not differentiate all of them it is a pity that their names did not appear when they sung and that there was no specific reference in the video credits.
Rating: Summary: Andrew Lloyd Webber's music at its best. Review: The Royal Albert Hall Celebration video is the best of Andrew Lloyd Webber and performed by the best artists.
Rating: Summary: Todo barbaro, excepto Banderas...
Rating: Summary: One of Lord Lloyd-Webber's best collections Review: This video seems to capture it all, from hit of most of ALW's works and featuring all the great performaers of the musical stage. What a collection! Everything combined onto a single video. Absolutely brilliant!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: What a great video! I was spellbound by the performances, particularly Donny Osmond. No disrespect to Antonio Banderas, but Mr. Osmond could have handled the material from Phantom much better. I was also impressed with the Glenn Close's beautiful voice. Don't miss this!
Rating: Summary: Michael Ball tops all! Review: Michael Ball is outstanding in all four of his appearances on this fabulous video, but I especially like "Love Changes Everything" with his final note giving me chills. "Vaults of Heaven" is perfect. My only question is why the Boyzone singer gave Michael such an obvious wink, with Michael grinning back at him. Is there something here I don't want to know? No matter. This video contains such beautiful music by outstanding singers. I think Lottie Mayor sings "Whistle Down the Wind" just the way Sir Andrew wants it performed. She is perfect. Get this video and be entertained thoroughly!
Rating: Summary: The Best Compilation of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals Review: This is truly a worthwhile video to own. All of the performances were excellent. The standout performances were done by Michael Ball, Glenn Close, Lottie Mayor, Antonio Banderas, Donny Osmond, and Elaine Paige. I have never heard anyone sing Gethsemane with as much emotion and passion as Michael Ball. When I first heard that Antonio Banderas was being considered for the film version of Phantom of the Opera, I was really skeptical that he could be the phantom. After hearing him on this video, I believe that if Michael Crawford cannot be the film's phantom, then Antonio is the next best thing.
