Summary: The very best of Toto, better than ever.
Review: This is the best Toto's live concert ever! Great opening with Goodbye Girl, Goodbye Elenore musical arrangement. Wait to see the "Waiting for Your Love" medley, and others. My favorite is "I Won't Hold You Back" and the great finale with "White Sister". Bobby Kimball, David Paich, Mike Porcaro and Sir Steve Lukather performing better than ever.

Summary: TOTO LIVE IN AMSTERDAM
Review: THIS IS WHAT A BAND SHOULD SOUND LIKE! THIS IS AN AMAZINGLY PURE AND PERFECT PERFORMANCE. NO DANCERS, NO LIP SYNCHING. ROCK MUSIC PLAYED BY THE BEST MUSICIANS AT THEIR CRAFT. AFTER 25 YEARS OF SERIOUS MUSIC MAKING, THIS DVD FINALLY REVEALS TOTO AND THEIR TRADITIONAL APPROACH TO THE WAY LIVE MUSIC SHOULD BE PLAYED. REAL MUSIC FOR REAL MUSIC FANS.

Summary: COME ON AMAZON
Review: Toto fans this is a review of the site, not of the band. I give the band four stars. I give Amazon 0 stars. I am a huge Amazon fan. Generally a tremendous and informative music exposure and purchasing place. However, HOW CAN YOU EXPECT CONSUMERS TO PLUNK DOWN GOOD CASH ON A MUSIC/CONCERT DVD WITHOUT A TRACKLISTING. Your site has neglected this issue for too long. LET'S GET IT TOGETHER ONCE AND FOR ALL !!!!!!

Summary: Great Playing; Lousy Sound
Review: Toto is still the perfectionist group it always was, even if Simon Phillips' hairdo makes him look like Harpo Marx at the drumset.
I can overlook a few mistakes on the song labeling of the DVD box, but the overall sound of the DVD is terribly imbalanced. Simon Phillips mixed down the concert tapes for release, which is apparently why I hear the drums best of all. The bass and guitars you can hear pretty well, and the keyboards too. But the vocals, especially Kimball's leads, sound like they were recorded off ambient room reverb.
And why do we never see the second keyboardist on camera, except for when he's introduced to the audience? It's a little weird to hear seven musicians playing all the time, and only see six!
Toto is my favorite existing band -- I think only the Beatles outdid them -- and they did a great job of pasting together some really neat medleys and different arrangements of some of their old tunes. The lousy sound mix is what disappoints me with this DVD. But if you dig Toto, buy it.

Summary: Plain and Simple: A Masterpiece
Review: Toto puts on a fantastic show before a highly energetic audience in Amsterdam, and viewing the DVD, you get the same high that the live audience clearly felt.

Nailing the hits like Africa, Rosanna, and Hold the Line, Toto also goes into the vault and brings out older gems like English Eyes, Gift With A Golden Gun, and Girl Goodbye and puts on a masterful performance all around. New songs from the latest album Through the Looking Glass are Bodhisattva from Steely Dan and While My Guitar Gently weeps. Both versions are absolutely killer!!!

The sound of the DVD is absolutely phenomenal -- an indication of Simon Phillips wizardy in the mixing. All members of the band put on an absolutely electric performance, worthy of recognition all around.

This is a MUST HAVE for Toto Fans and music fans alike, not just because you can relive the 25th Anniversary tour over and over, but because it serves as a reminder of just how great this band really is and WHY they have survived 25 years as one of the world's premiere bands.

This is showmanship, musicianship, and just flat out passion at its best.

GET THIS DVD!

PS Beware the backstage footage! From actually being there, these guys are NOT acting for the camera! They really ARE as crazy as they look! ahhahahah

Summary: GREAT LIVE BAND
Review: TOTO WAS NEVER ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS, BUT I LOVED THE SONG AFRICA, WHEN IT CAME OUT ON THE RADIO. WHEN I SAW THIS DVD HAD THAT SONG, I BOUGHT IT. WHAT A FANTASTIC LIVE BAND! THE MUSICIANSHIP IS FLAWLESS AND THE SOUND IS EXCELLENT. THE VOCALS BLEW ME AWAY. BOBBY KIMBALL DOES'NT SOUND LIKE HE MISSED A DAY OF SINGING. ALL HARMONIES ARE ON THE MONEY. IF YOU LIKE GUITAR VIRTUOSITY, WHAT CAN I SAY. IT'S STEVE LUTHAKER. EACH MUSICIAN PLAYS AND SOUNDS GREAT. THIS WILL BECOME A FAVORITE OF MUSICIANS, AND OF COURSE, TOTO FANS.

Summary: Awesome, but...
Review: Very few bands can touch Toto in their musicianship, song-writing and longevity. I've been an avid Toto fan since "Hold the Line" hit the airwaves, and have enjoyed the myriad of incarnations over the last 25 years. Strange as it may seem, I've never had the opportunity to see them live. "Live in Amsterdam" was in many way a dream come true. Watching the DVD was like sitting front row center and was absolutely incredible. Both audio and video are first rate. Song selection is good, but leans heavily on their first 4 recordings. For a 25th anniversary concert I would have liked to have heard more from Fahrenheit, 7th, Kingdom, Tambu, and Mindfields. I think the audio is actually better on the DVD than the CD version. Here's where the "but" comes... the disc also has footage from their TTLG tour. I've always seen Toto as a classy, first rate bunch of musicians, not as a group of decadant rockers. The bonus footage follows the band (Mostly Luke and Paich) engaged in adolescent antics of profanity, flashing BAs, and other sexual inuendos. I was disappointed by this showing off, and found it unnecessary and inconsistent with the band's public legacy.

Summary: ToTo
Review: Well I do certainly believe that this DVD has the quality and the performance to boot. The video and audio as others have stated are excellent. Boy do I just love the DTS surround system, I wish DVDs came out with it.
Ok 3 stars, because it just isn't my thing, I can't appreciate the music as others have. Maybe this shouldn't warrant the subtraction of two stars, but this is how I feel. So if you like the music, by all means this is a great DVD.

Summary: Mesmerizing!
Review: What can I say. What a great compilation and what musicianship, coupled with a good time all over. My ears are still ringing as if I was there myself. The first tune blows any rock tune you can exhibit ever. What a rendition. And the rest of it, just dreamland for me. If you want to see just one band live, it'll be this. I have no more words for this. Magnificent stuff. All hail TOTO.

Rock on!

Summary: Better Than You Might Think. . .
Review: When I first purchased this DVD, I thought that the song selection was a bit strange, considering the long and varied history of Toto. Where's the "Mindfields" and "Kingdom of Desire" stuff? No matter. Anyone who considers themself a music fan should NOT be without this DVD. The performances are second-to-none, the songs are infinately more entertaining than the trash that is released nowadays, and you'll find yourself wanting to see it again. . . and again. . . and again (If you're like me, anyway). Steve Lukather is among the best (if not THE best) guitarists existing today. David Paich's piano skills are comparable to that of a classical pianist. Simon Phillips is a fine replacement for Jeff Porcaro. Mike Porcaro is consistantly talented at the bass. To top it all off, Bobby Kimball seems as if his voice hasn't changed a bit. His dynamic, high-pitched tone fits the music he sings along with beautifully. Overall, I've made my point. Now stop wasting your precious time reading this review and purchase this DVD! You won't regret it!
