Summary: Never Broke up, just took a 15 year vacation..
Review: Why did we have to wait for 15 years. This DVD is the best of The Eagles. They are just amazing. There will be no other band like them again. Everyone should have this DVD in their collections.

Summary: The Eagles-Hell Freezes Over-...better for ears than eyes
Review: Although I might keep this DVD in my collection, it would be only for the historical reunion of the Eagles and not for the DVD experience. I enjoy a concert DVD that lets me feel like I'm at the show sonically and visually, and not as if I'm watching a slide show with fading effects. My apologies to the director, but when Joe Walsh is playing a solo I like to watch Joe Walsh play the solo. The sound is okay, but visually the 2 second cut from one band member to the next without regard to the instrumental focus or the activity on the stage was extremely frustrating.

Summary: Excellent DVD
Review: I would recommend this DVD to any fan of The Eagles. I attended their "Hell Freezes Over" concert a few years back in St. Louis at an outdoor venue. That concert remains my favorite of all concerts ever attended. I watched this DVD last evening and felt like it took me back to that night again. I will be watching this one over and over for years to come. My only wish is that all the music from their concert would have been on the DVD. I would pay for a boxed set of that concert to hear all the music they played that evening.

Summary: DTS version well worth it
Review: This was the first DTS DVD that we bought. We now recommend it to everyone that has a DTS DVD player. The recording of Seven Bridges Road is phenomenal. I urge you to listen to this specific song on the DVD and go to each speaker separately. When sitting in the sweet spot one can't tell that each speaker has a different member of the group (if the system is set up correctly).

Summary: It All Works
Review: There is a reason this is the best selling music DVD on the market. The Eagles have reunited after 14 years to give a spot-on performance. It is not what you may have expected, however. The first 10 minutes are a barrage of interviews with various members of the band, as to why they decided to get back together. It seems somewhat forced, but at least they reconciled old differences enough to band together again. The rest of the DVD contains (17) seventeen songs in an intimate setting that is sparse with a simple lighting arrangement. The vocals and instrumentals are near perfect and it's hard to imagine that this much time has passed.

The first several songs, "Hotel California", "Tequila Sunrise" and "Help Me Through The Night" are not as upbeat as on record, but contain some extended instrumentals as nice surprises. It isn't until "Take It Easy" (13 thirteen songs later) that the band really kicks into gear. With "Life In The Fast lane", "In The City" and the new, self effacing, "Get Over It", the concert really continues to rock. Closing the set is the timeless, "Desperado", sung with pure emotion. It's a simple set, but well worth the admission.

There is only one extra - the video to "Seven Bridges Road". I would have expected more.

Summary: The Eagles Flight High
Review: After a 14-year vacation, the Eagles still sound great. It's Hotel California sounds better than the original. You put this DVD, close your eyes and you feel inside the concert. This is a must have for everyone loves good music.

Summary: A REVIEW FROM A DIEHARD FAN
Review: My wife and I saw the Eagles in one of their Hell Freezes Over concerts in East Troy, Wisconsin a few years back. This by far was the greatest concert we've ever attended! They pumped out nearly 3 hours of non-stop music. I've watched the DVD and right off the bat I became annoyed with the constant fading in and out of the performers. Don't get me wrong the video is flawless and the lighting is great. There were many camera angles which added to the experience, but I just wished the producer's didn't fade in and out on the performers as much as they did. You don't get a chance to lock in on any one musician for more that 2 seconds or so. I, as others have stated, don't understand why the DVD wasn't released with Dolby 5.1. I don't have DTS, but probably will in the future, so I guess I don't feel cheated as do others and I knew going into the purchase that it didn't have Dolby 5.1. The sound is great even in the PCM stereo mode. All in all, this is an excellent DVD for any Eagle's fan collection.
