Summary: Alanis does it again!
Review: Well, what can I say? Only reading the artist's name should be enough to convince anyone to buy this DVD! It's an amazing account of Alanis' life on the road - it shows the ups and downs. You get not only live footage from almost every concert Alanis performed during her "Can't Not" Tour, but you also get HILARIOUS backstage footage that lets you see that Alanis is just another human being. She's amazing and every fan should own JLP, Live. And if you're not a fan, buy this and I guarantee you'll become a fan of the one and only, ladies and gentlemen, Alanis Nadine Morissette!! Alanis ROCKS, baby!!

Summary: More about the phenomenon than the music - but so what?
Review: Whatever you thought of Alanis in 1995 and whatever you think of her now (if you're like me, that's two pretty different things), there's no denying that JLP was much more than a megahit record. (Mentally compare it to, say, Def Leppard's "Hysteria" and you'll see what I mean.) It was perfectly in tune with its moment and it hit millions of people where they live. (And not just grouchy middle-class white girls either, contrary to legend. The look of rapture of the face of an Indonesian male fan as he sings along with the lyrics can tell you that.) She says she thought of retiring after it came out and frankly, she might as well have. There really was nowhere for her to go but down.Other people here have complained about the way most songs on this video are assembled from snippets of many different performances given months and countries apart (with widely varying levels of audio quality), and I see their point. This does compromise the integrity of the music, strictly speaking. But it does assemble a fascinating portrait of the JLP phenomenon which, viewed as a whole, is a lot more interesting than any single concert taped in Dallas (or Sydney, or Buenos Aires) ever could be. Watching it unfurl again at this distance in time - even knowing that there wouldn't be, strictly speaking, a happy ending - is still a remarkable experience. Just seeing this horse-faced young Canadian woman with a few more artistic pretentions than she can support and 8 or 9 terrific songs in her backpack speaking to legions of people in literally every corner of the globe is enough to make you to believe in music all over again.

Summary: Not what I expected, not bad though.
Review: When one buys a live concert he or she expects to see quality sound in a big stadium with good video quality as well. I'd like to warn everyone that this DVD is not that at all. What it is,not bad, but I would expect more for my money. It won the grammy because it was very unique, something probably that no other artist has done before. In this video we are able to travel with Alanis through her Jagged tour and see how life was for her in the tour bus, and in the various hotels that she stayed in. In the Live performances I was a bit dissapointed because it would start a song in an old low budget bar, then go into an outdoor concert somewhere in the middle of the song, the cut into a high quality stadium somewhere. I really didn't enjoy that so much. It would have been alright if they would just have one full song in each location, but instead they had to ruin the whole song, and cut it into a different location. While it is very original I wouldn't espiecially reccomend it to those who enjoy watching live concerts, this is only for the hardcore alanis fans. If 3 1/2 stars was an option, that is what this video would get.

Summary: BAD Sound!
Review: Whenever we watch this DVD, we turn the sound all the way down, and listen to the CD. The way the audio goes up and down will make you sick. This DVD just can not stay with one song all the way through. It keeps on switching from one place to another. What a waste. Too bad : ( Skip this one!

Summary: What a Jagged Little Pill. Live.
Review: You know what? Jagged Little Pill, Live is not that bad. It is the same as Feast on Scraps; live performances where at times the audio is somewhat bad, home movies that are weird and funny at times for some reason sad.
What's weird is that you can at times hear songs from Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. Weird but cool. They seem to be live also but you don't see a performance for those songs. You just hear them while someone is recording something. Like the road that he or she is riding down. Or a city. Or fans. Or Alanis. You know?
During some performances or home movies, you might get headaches or dizziness due to how the person holds the camera. Most of the time, it's all right. I really like this DVD but here are some tips.
If you have a laptop or a computer that can play DVDs, use it. Hook up your headphones to it and put them on. Skip to the Menu of this DVD and set it up to have captions so you can understand what she is saying or singing. Turn the volume up as far as you can. And watch. That's what I did and it really helped.

Summary: Horrible DVD
Review: You would think that in a concert DVD audio quality might be important. It also might be important to HEAR the artist perform in concert. What you get is garbage audio, shabby video, audience singing with crappy audio through one of her songs, crappy video of some of her TV appearances. This DVD is just garbage on all fronts.
