Summary: it's in tune
Review: Dark Side is the best album ever. However, knowing exactly what some of the songs are about takes away some of it's magic, which is why I gave the DVD 4 stars. On the other hand, it's great to see the band talk about it and what it meant to them. People describe the album as a complete experience and not just a collection of nice tunes, which is exactly what it is. This DVD is a must for any Floyd fan but it really doesn't make any sense if you've never heard Dark Side. Any Colour You Like is not mentioned but since it's a jam I supposed it's ok. It's amazing how it fits in the album though. One of the highlights of the DVD is listening to "the voices" and how they came about. Also, Gilmour playing Us and Them and Water's very last comment: "... but that doesn't mean the potential for the sun to shine doesn't exist, walk the path down towards the light rather than into the darkness..."

Summary: Except for Waters Ego great dvd
Review: Rodger says in this DVD that the theme of DSOTM was " are we capable of acting like humans?" Unfortunatly, In recent years Rodger complains and talks bad about David Gilmour. Is this acting human? Is having a huge ego and trashing people acting human? Rodger never has anything positive to say about anybody.

Summary: Good but not what I expected
Review: While this is a very interesting documentary I must admit that it wasn't what I was looking for. Ever since the advent of DVD I've been hoping to replace my Dark Side VHS concert tape with a DVD version (as you might imagine, the VHS is worn out!). I was so counting on this to be that DVD. I agree with many others that this was a disappointing disc in that regard. The sleeve really is cryptic and while it says "An in-depth look at..." I think we are all just conditioned now to believe these in-depth looks are extras, not the main course. I'm sure I'll watch this again and I'll share it with some friends (so they don't fall victim as I did) but how hard would it have been (or be) to put the concert footage on along with the documentary? I'm not sure how much longer my tape is going to last. I'm growing sad.

Summary: Big waste of time and money
Review: When I got a DVD player my wife and I agreed that since we don't watch movies repeatedly, we would only purchase DVDs that we could enjoy without sitting in front of the screen. Like DVDs of concerts or music videos. She bought me this one because I told her how much I liked the "Dark Side of the Moon" and wished I had a copy. Man is this a disappointment.This is not "The Dark Side of the Moon", it is a documentary styled sleeping aid about the album, if you can imaging that. It is a collection of talking heads telling way too much about their internal realities with a couple of bars of the songs thrown in. I doubt anyone other than the speakers and a few music historians care two beans about what they have to say. If you want to hear the music, buy the CD, because there isn't any music on this DVD that's worth hearing. This DVD should have a warning label that it is not intended for recreational use.

Review: this is a terrific dvd from a hugely talented band and this was one of the greatest albums ever made.the music is great and is still relevant today when the world is plagued by horrible and talentless pop bands like N stink.

Summary: More than just a ¨Making Of...¨
Review: Many people and online sellers present this DVD as the ¨Making Of The Dark Side...¨ . It's is far more than just that. It's a comprehensive retrospective of the album and its context narrated by every band member, producer, journalist and even the sound engineer (Alan Parson). It includes previously unreleased portions of tracks, solos and choruses from the original DSOTM songs. You can also see Waters, Gilmour and Wright fiddling their instruments while been interviewed and playing portions of Money, Time and The Great Gig... all of this in a quiet ambient, relaxed mood which besides gives us a glimpse of the man more than the musician. There's no footage from live concerts though, just still photos.
Don't miss it by no means it is a must for every PF fan. A true 30 year anniversary homage to that masterpiece.

Review: What Dark Side of the Moon did for music, this DVD does for behind the scenes of album production. I figured this would be amusing, but it is far more than that. A must have for anybody that is interested in record production as well as for all Floyd fans. Plus some of the interviews are real eye openers. You will love it!!!

Review: Two hours ago, I was not a Pink Floyd fan.
Since before I was born over 24 years ago, my parents had a deep affinity for Floyd, and I don't remember them ever playing any records as often as DSOTM, The Wall, and Animals. By the time I was four, The Wall was my favorite album, although the artwork on the inside of the sleeve provided me many a nightmare at the time. So I've loved PF pretty much all my life.
But two hours ago, I was not a Pink Floyd fan. Sure, I thought their concerts were great, their music, everything, was fantastic. But I never thought of them as people, and that's what this DVD showed me.
All the personality injected into this album, all the ideas, backstories, bells and whistles have never been more clear after watching this DVD. I must have listened to DSOTM literally hundreds of times in my lifetime, in open spaces, with good noise canceling headphones, you name it, and every so often I still hear new things. Well, this DVD kind of spoiled everything, because now there's nothing more to discover. Every minor detail is covered, sonically and lyrically, and after watching the DVD, the album is fresh once again, imagine that. I have a new respect for the album and the band as a whole. Well made documentary, some clips of their videos thrown in here and there, some old footage, but mostly more recent footage of interviews and such.
This is so worth it, especially to watch Gilmour play, it's amazing to see that in over 30 years, he still has it. Beautiful.
