Summary: I've Got Her Under My Skin
Review: The performance is spectacular...I can't stop playing the dvd. The song selection is right on the money. The photography is probably the best I've seen in terms of live perfomances. My only disappointment is the sound quality. Before I go any further let me tell you that I played it through my large screen TV in stereo mode. Very soon, however, I will hook up my newly purchased Sonus Faber Concertinos where I am sure that I will get a much better sound..in stereo mode. I do not have home theater...thus I play my concerts in stereo mode. Anyway, I love the dvd. Buy it!

Summary: Probably one of the best Jazz Concerts-ever.
Review: I had pre-orderd this DVD about 30 days ago after I first heard Diana on a free download on AOL. Since that time I have purchased everything she has done-all the CD's the single etc. Talk about being carried away. And now this Paris Concert. If you are a Jazz enthusiast, you simply must have this DVD. It runs about 2 hours and 10 min with some extras including 3 rehersal stints and two music videos where she is actually in a dress. This Concert has everything you could ask for.Her talent goes beyond words. Her ability on the Piano is demonstrated fully as is her flawless voice. I could go on and on. I can simply end this review by telling you that we spent the better part of 3 hours today in awe.

Summary: You do not want to miss it
Review: I was indeed lucky to be in Paris last december. I was even more lucky to be in Seattle last week to see Diana Krall again, as she started her American tour.
This DVD will give all of us who love her art an outstanding music experience as she plays with her band but also with a symphonic orchestra.
From a quality standpoint, this DVD is just like all the CDs that Diana Krall has released so far: highest recording standards, amazing sound, especially with the 5.1 dts track. That is why I give it a five stars rating.
Highly recommended.

Summary: Diana Krall, the Voice of Jazz
Review: I'have always been found of Jazz and especially women singers. The first time I've heard Diana Krall, I immediatly recognize
the deep, warm and genuine voice of Jazz. My god : She also plays the piano like in a dream : delicate, subtile, in a word, a women.

I wish you were with me at the Olympia hall in Paris.

I you are a man, if you listen to her, you'll be shortly in love. And if you watch her playing and singing, you'll soon be crazy. Watch out !

Summary: Naysayers take notice
Review: Those who know Diana Krall primarily as a vocalist because of the emphasis on some of her recent CDs need look no farther than the opening cut, "I Love Being Here With You". Watch the Steinway smoke as her fingers fly and tell me she's not one of the best jazz pianists to come along in a very long time.

And, can a singer own a song they didn't write? Well, when it comes to the sensitive interpretation of a lyric in a cover version, Diana's phrasing on Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" will remind you of back when Tony Bennett lost his heart in San Francisco, or when Sinatra did it His Way. If a more poignant 6 minute essay on the bitter-sweet ache of love exists, I have never seen it. This track (a solo encore) is worth the price of the DVD by itself.

Summary: Diana Krall "Live in Paris"
Review: Prior to purchasing this DVD, I had heard a few selections by Diana Krall but was not totally familiar with her work. The "Live in Paris" concert was by no means a disappointment, I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. This is a sophisticated concert with some superb musicians accompanying her. Ms. Krall is an astonishing pianist to my surprise and delightment, John Clayton's work on the acoustic bass is remarkble, and Anthony Wilson's sensitivity on electric guitar is awe inspiring, along with Jeff Hamilton on drums. Also on stage with Ms. Krall are Paulinho DaCosta whose percussion accents and highlights create a beautiful texture to the music, and John Pisano on accoustic guitar. I wish John Pisano had better "stage" placement for the concert, he is basically sitting "behind" Ms. Krall's piano in relation to the audience.

The reasons I did not give this concert a 5 star rating are because:
*as mentioned above, John Pisano's stage placement was
inadequate to truly enjoy the contributions he made during the
perfomance,
*Ms. Krall's reluctance to "strecth out" vocally. I would love
to hear her extend her vocal range and put more dynamics in
her songs. She certainly has the ability as is slightly
evidenced in a few songs. As a jazz musician and vocalist,
she needs to stretch further.

With the exception of the two flaws mentioned, this is a fine concert I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a sophisticated performance. The sonic and visual quality are very good and is well worth the investment in your time and money to check out. The concert is over 2 hours long but still leaves you wanting for more.
