Rating: Summary: "The Making of Pump" and "Get A Grip" (Accuracy Update) Review: "The making of "Pump" was created and taped at Rik Tinory Productions in Cohasset, Mass U.S.A. The Band created and Pre-produced and composed and arranged and recorded most of "PumP" at this Legendary Studio and remained in the studio for an amazing, 18 months. The Band worked each and every day, sometimes for 11 hours a day, taking off only New Years Eve to play the Boston Garden(Fleet Center). The Making of "Pump" which was taped with a Sony home Video Camera is an intregal part of Rock& Roll history, and these facts are vital to the band's past and future history ,accuracy is very important. "Pump" was responsible for the return of the band in a huge way and resulted in Aerosmith's first"Grammy Award Feb 26,1991. The band chose again to return for another 6 months for "Get A Grip". Rik Tinory productions.provided a home for the band once again with privacy, solice and love. Aerosmith created some of it's greatest works at Rik Tinory productions. However, very little or no mention or credit was given for this tremendous effort, especially in the Aerosmith book ,"Walk This way". A token mention was given by Bass Player. Tom Hamilton, much to Rik's surprise, not a word however, from Steven Tyler, who Rik is extremely close. "It was more like a family situation and not just music business as usual". Steven and the guy's will always be special. It was the little things: The fresh brewed coffee each morning with Steven and Rik discussing the serious mix of coffee beans, Steven request for my bar stool to be shipped to the " Grammy's" for him to sit on for "Good Luck", Steven's request for my vintage Rca mike which I never part with(also that Elvis used) be shipped to Vancouver for vocal overdubs, especially for the hit,"What It Takes",looking back,we had a lot of fun. No studio has worked out this well for the band. Other Valuable Notes: The first Aerosmth appearance on the "Simpsons" was recorded at the Rik Tinory Productions,as was the wild M.T.V. Harley Davidson giveaway party which was held on the Spacious studio grounds. See more on the Rik Tinory Web Site. URL riktinory.com. More to come in the Biography, Rik Tinory book of Legends to include: Frank Sinatra,Don Costa.Aerosmith, Timothy Leary,Bob Hope, George Burns,Pope John Paul II,The Taylor Brothers and many more. Rating: Summary: For dedicated Aero fans Review: A disappointing purchase - very little music of low quality. For committed fans only

Rating: Summary: Best I've seen so far on Aerosmith Review: I am the largest Aerosmith fan on the planet, and I love this DVD. It is part of my collection, which I am sure I will watch over and over again. Aerosmith is the best rock band, heck, the best band, in the world and I enjoyed this tremendously. It was nice to see these five musicians stripped down to who they truly are: Legends. Steven is a very rare gem, and this band will survive a nuclear blast. If you are a die hard Aerosmith fan, or if you perhaps, are just a bit curious about why these guys have sold millions of albums, and are still selling out shows and climbing the charts with NSYNC, you should get your hands on this one; it's too precious to let it slip by.

Rating: Summary: Rip-Off Review: I can't recommend anybody to buy this DVD - I really regret buying it, it is an awful waste of money. On this DVD You will see a lot of shots of Aerosmith working behind the scenes which can be very entertaining - the first time, but there is no single song which is played to its completion, just small clips of the songs in the making and most of these are not very well known. I was expecting and looking forward to hear, 'Janie's Got A Gun', 'Take me to the other side', 'Love in an Elevator' etc, but none of these songs are fully played, You only get to see and hear tiny clips, 20 seconds or so, and I kept waiting to hear the songs - but it turned out in vain. So although it is quite entertaining to watch this DVD the first time when everything is new - I feel like I have wasted a lot of good money on something I will never watch again. I was expecting there would be the videos from the album, or at least fully performed songs, not the least the hits from Pump but all You get on this video is talk, jamming and some interviews. It would have been so easy for the publisher to add these songs, the major reason anyone apart from Die Hard fans would buy it as far as I see it, but they haven't and I feel deceived. For the money I paid for this DVD I could have gotten any other title which would have some lasting value, eg. several viewings.
Rating: Summary: more arguments Review: I cannot understand why reviewers are buying a title "the making of" anything and then expecting different. this gem takes you behind the scenes of the making of a great album to it's completion, philosophy of the band and alot more. I play music as a hobby and admire that the guys let us in on some of their process when the don't really have to give us anything. for those of you interested in the final product why don't you buy it! sounds pretty easy to me. in fact I wish there were less of the finished video's and more of the band arguments!
Rating: Summary: A rare chance to see how a great band creates a great album! Review: I don't know why some people are giving this one star. This video wasn't released to rip people off. If what you want are costly music videos, don't buy this. It's called THE MAKING of PUMP. That means that it takes you in the studio and shows you the band writing and producing songs intended for the PUMP album. I'm very glad that this video was released (as well as the Chili Peppers' Funky Monks video) because it's an extremely rare view to see the band in. I love the album PUMP and the video made the album even better for me because I saw that the band put a lot of work and heart into the album and still had alot of fun in the process. This is like a non-glamerous version of MTV's "Making the..." shows. There aren't any special camera effects and the band isn't covered in makeup. It's just to show what the process of making the album was like. And I love it (and I'm not even a HUGE Aerosmith fan).
Rating: Summary: Aerosmith: what more needs to be said? Review: I really didn't know exactly what to expect from this DVD, but I went for it as I am a long time (yep, I'm old!)fan of the band. I guess my interest for the band resurfaced after my visit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last spring. Started thinking about college and Boston and what a damn good time I had and Aerosmith was part of all that...ANYWAY, I can't say that I really spend a lot of time watching movies or tv, but now, whenever I have downtime (usually between 10:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. weeknites...), I watch this DVD! It never fails to put me to bed in a good mood...pleasant dreams... ahem ! ANYWAY, this DVD is so great...I love the behind the scenes stuff and actually could have done w/less of the interviews, and just more candid stuff. (Camera person wasted a lot of time on blank space during the interviews... personally, don't want to see the walls, but the guys...) I like the fact that there are only a couple of videos included...I didn't buy it expecting to see them, but rather, just as the title implies, the making of an album. I was disappointed that there isn't much info or a booklet included and I admit that it took me a little while to figure out that you actually have to turn the DVD over to get to side 2... I love this DVD. I love Aerosmith - even more so now.
Rating: Summary: Fascinating stuff for the hardcore fan Review: I thoroughly enjoyed watching The Making of Pump. It is a fascinating look into the inner workings of a band in the process of putting together what would become a landmark album. On the other hand, I couldn't help but see some striking resemblances to This Is Spinal Tap...from arguments over the title of the album, to debates over which lyrics might to too risque for Top 40 radio. But then what else can you expect from a band that specializes in rock-n-roll lunacy like Aerosmith?
