Summary: WORST DVD DOCUMENTARY EVER!
Review: Anybody giving this 5 stars is either involved in the making of this DVD or is plain stupid. An interesting insight into Van Halen's early years? What a load of cr*p ! All the true fans know this information and more already. Guitar Magazine covered the VH early years 20 years ago. As for something different, this amounts to absolutely nothing unless as Dave Lee Roth once quoted Eddie as 'living in a cave'. I am not the only person who has wasted money on this and if your a prospective buyer having doubts, check out all the other 1 & 2 star reviews before parting with your hard earned cash, because believe me this is a load of nonscence.

Summary: A must see
Review: Amazing documentary about the formative years of the best rock and roll band ever. The DVD covers Alex and Edward's early years playing with small garage bands, all the years with David Lee Roth, and concentrates mostly on the club days and the first world tour. Van Halen is probably one of the best rock & roll bands to emerge from America. The documentary is educational and informative and a great tool for the student or aspiring young band. It was very informative about how the band got started, touring and getting their first recording contract. Being a Van Halen fan,it was interesting with lot's of pictures and facts I never seen or knew. A must have for the Van Halen fan.

Summary: It's true they are out dated and dead !
Review: I have to agree with a previous review, how many times do you listen to Eruption and all the other outdated stuff the VH duo were performing live for years before saying enough? As for other musicians there are tonnes out there now that have been way better then the VH duo for decades. The VH clan were top for around 2-3 years and then bang they were gone in a puff of smoke! All this documentary is trying to do is immortalise musicians from the dead. Dave Lee Roth and Vai/Becker have done much better stuff since anyway. No it's true, the VH early years is 25 years to late and is well and truely dead. So what was the point? Thats whats missing from this DVD, the people it's about are outdated and suck.

Summary: VAN HALEN WHO???? THE WHERE ARE THEY NOW FILE
Review: Give me a Freakin brake. They should just retire. Eddie & Alex have proven without a doubt they can not work with (nor live with) any one. Not only have they gone thru how many singers now??Even Michael Anthony is leaving. That Sam & Dave actually went on tour with each other should tell Eddie and Alex they are not relevant musicians any more nor are they needed any where. There are plenty of better drummers and guitarists than these two stooges. Maybe they can do a eddie & alex casino reviwe show in Vegas some where to amuse them selves(how many times can one sit thru eruption??) but leave the touring to better bands and artists. Sam & Dave sounded better without the VH brothers. Eddie & Alex just go away- you are becoming as annoying as Waco Jacko. Oh yeah by the was stay far away from this gimmik of a doccumentry try Spinal Tap instead.

Summary: 70 minutes of nothing
Review: I to am dissappointed with this. Who is interested in how many cigarettes, breakfast meals, yawn yawn VH use to order. It's just a load of waffle. I didn't learn anything new from this DVD except that if you put the right thing together without having copyright problems with the band you can con a few bucks out of the fans. Even when they were about to show the beginning of 'Running with the Devil' they cut it short after Michaels bass doing a few notes. The opening sequences to the concerts were cut as short as ****. Who cares about Dave Lee Roth's persona. He is an entertainer! As for the backing music all the way through that was a joke. I at least expected VH riffs breaking through every part. Sorry it was a waste of time releasing this, wow loads of unseen photographs! I think they are musicians aren't they? Not pin-ups! Like a previous review 3 hours minimum for a documentary like this at least. The VH museum as well was a joke and as for the Atomic Punks, at least they admit they are ripping off VH, just like the makers of this film. All in all this was 70 minutes of nothing. Avoid!

Summary: Van Halen Documentary
Review: This was a good DVD, even though the band had nothing to do with it. It was very informative about how the band got started,
touring and getting their first recording contract. A must have for the Van Halen fan. I can't wait for some new material from the boys or even an archieve live DVD.

Summary: Could have been better.
Review: What I expected from this was - live VH footage, proper interviews with Eddie, Alex, Dave and Michael. Never heard before guitar solos, VH music all the way through. What did I get? About 15 seconds of poor quality camcorder recordings of them live. Outdated poor quality interviews allegedly with Alex amd Michael. Old television clips of Dave and Eddie when he was about to marry Valerie, and a load of useles information about there life on the road. Every rock band had this life on the road, there is nothing new about it! Trashing the hotels etc, The Who were doing this long before. Dave giving the roadies back passes for the girls (common fan knowledge for decades). On the upside, the makers tried on a limited amount of rights, and it's a start. But there certainly isn't enough material in this DVD to produce a decent anthology of VH's early years (would realistically last for 3 hours). Hopefully Warner Brothers will read these reviews and do something for the fans, cause if they do put the real article together I would gladly pay double the money! If the input in this DVD was coupled with the music in the background and a little more live coverage then it would have been a lot better.

Summary: Worst Documentary Ever!!!
Review: This was a joke of a DVD documentary. The participants were morons and the quality was pathetic. There is no interesting information to be found on this DVD. I wish I could reclaim the 70 minutes I spent watching it. Don't waste your time or money!!!!

Summary: Van Halen Story
Review: Being a Van Halen fan i thought it was interesting.Lot's of pictures and facts i never seen or new.The only bad thing is they don't play Van Halen music for back ground music. They should have shown more of live footage of 5150.What about the bands hobbies i know they collect cars. Also when is David Lee Roth going to put out a DVD with all his video's or a concert video from Eat'em and smile or Skyscraper.
