Rating: Summary: More Than a Civil War Story Review: North and South is an inspiring story of an enduring friendship set during one of this country's most difficult periods. Its a story that takes you through the struggles of a nation and a friendship, each emerging stronger than could ever be believed. Interesting and realistic portrayals of the ideas of the time.
Rating: Summary: Just one of "those" films..... Review: North and South is just one of "those" films that you either love or you hate. And if you love it, you fall hard. When N&S first came out, I was too young to understand what I was watching. But it was one of those films that I grew up with. It was something I came to watch with my father all the time and a bond between us. It's just such a great film by an amazing author... I'm dying for it to come out on dvd.
Rating: Summary: A DVD MUST Review: North and South is one of the greatest civilwar movies of all time. A must see for all who have not seen it, and a must get for all who have. The collection of hollywood talent that was put into this release was outstanding. From leading rolls to small camio apperences, it was clear that all of Hollywood was involved. The most important was the story. WOW. As a viewer you were put right into the lives of two families and two lifestyles that had to overcome some of the worst circumstances a friendship cam endore. WOW is all there is to say!!!
Rating: Summary: north and south Review: North and South is undoubtedly the best mini series to ever grace the TV screen. It is right up there with the likes of Gone With The Wind. It will be one of those rare movies that will endure for years. I would give this a 10 star rating if possible. It is loved by all members of my family, and they all want their own copy when it comes out on DVD. So Please, Oh please don't make us wait. By the way it would make wonderful Christmas presents.
Rating: Summary: Life, Love and Loyalty Review: North and South was a historically based production that brought the happenings of the 1840's to 1861 to life and I feel was one of the, if not the best learning tool of pre-civil war times. It was historically sound and followed the historical events as the writer of the books, John Jakes did. It brought life alive in that historical time and for me, gave me a much better understanding of what went on in the pre-Civil War years. I feel that having this all-time Mini Series in DVD format will open the doors to many more people and I would hope that in its production that both Descritive tracks and closed circut could be added for those who are blind/visually impared and the hearing impared.
Rating: Summary: The best miniseries ever Review: North and South, the miniseries based on the novels written by the greatest historical novelist of all time, John Jakes, deserves to be released on DVD. This first miniseries (of three) showcases the antebellum period of the United States in glorious detail, and provides the exact amount of tension that was present in our country that would eventually lead to the Civil War. Led by an all star cast, Patrick Swayze and James Read are two friends who meet at West Point prior to the Mexican-American war, and the series chronicles their friendship between them and their familes during the next twenty years until the Confederates fire on Fort Sumter in 1861. This is a DVD that must be released and seen by all, so that future students of history may be educated in the most turbulent period of our nation's history.
Rating: Summary: Long over-due On DVD... Review: Okay, say it with me...D-V-D. This EXCELLENT mini series is LONG over-due to be released on DVD. I have worn my VHS tapes out and need something more substancial to replace them. I'll keep hoping to see it soon.
