Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Surprisingly good quality for the period
Review: Al Stewart is almost always referred to as underrated, and he is with the general public; but, everyone who goes back to discover his many terrific and brilliant recordings will appreciate this "souvenir" from his most "pop" period. The quality is actually better than I expected it to be. I would give it 5 stars except for it's a bit short. It is at least 4 stars, however, and well worth owning.

Summary: Blast from the Past
Review: Captured VERY live at the time of "Time Passages" (an era Al admits was his most commercial) this video is nothing less than a time capsule, recording Al and Peter White at a moment in time that no longer exists anywhere. Pre-MTV, this show makes you feel like you are sitting in the audience. No "special effects" and no announcer -- just good music. The audio and video quality is fine -- so sit back and ENJOY the show!

Summary: Dont Waste Your Money!!
Review: Dont get me wrong, I like Al Stewart and Peter White is awesome, but this recording performance really sucks and as if that's not enough, the production quality of this DVD, both Music quality and Video quality are really bad. Dont bother if you care about or expect quality, but if your a die-hard Al Stewart fan you might settle just to get a look at this old vintage footage.

Summary: Worth buying a DVD player for
Review: Everyone has their "set point" to when the invest in new technology. One friend of mine wouldn't buy a compact disk player until they could buy the Beatles music on CD. Well, this DVD made me decide to get a DVD player .... and it's worth it! Great show, great music.

Summary: More Al Stewart DVDs please....
Review: I have this DVD and loved it! It is about time that someone out there put out something to showcase Al's remarkable talent.. The Video was a little muddy in some places, but the show was still great. Time Passages and Year of the Cat are my 2 personal favs. I hope that there are more DVDs with Al Stewart soon... Good music from my childhood. Beautiful memories come back to me in these songs...

Summary: Enjoyable 1979 Performance by Al for German Television
Review: I purchased this DVD a few years ago in anticipation of purchasing a DVD player someday. The DVD sat on a shelf until last week when it was the first DVD I played on my newly acquired DVD player.

I enjoyed the performance thoroughly. The video was satisfactory although the sound in some sections was distorted. The sound issues seemed to be mostly toward the beginning of the DVD. The DVD video quality seemed quite good to me. Since this is a reproduction of an original television broadcast, the original media was more than likely videotape, as opposed to 16 or 35mm motion picture film. The DVD quality is about what I would expect from a reproduction of a television broadcast videotape.

I wish there were more satisfactory quality visual recordings of Al's work during the 1970s, '80s and '90s. Unfortunately, everything else I have seen to date is amateurish and poor quality.

In summary, I recommend this DVD to anyone who appreciates Al's work.

Summary: An Al Stewart's Fan from CA
Review: I was stunt to see the DVD on the store shelf. Being Al Stewart's fan since "Year of the Cat", I bought it with great feelings. The band is "Shot in the Dark" in his '79 album "24 Carrots." The songs are well chosen, especially "The Palace of Versailles" and "Valentina Way." I enjoy watching Peter White with the guitar in "On The Border" as much as I did in Al's concert in San Francisco back in 1983. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys the sound of guitars, sax, and piano.
