Summary: WATCH VIDEO WITH AN OPEN MIND
Review: I just finished watching this video and I have to say wow this truly blew me away. Great collaborations, great sounds and footage.
The only people singing in this video are those who appreciate and understand Bob's music. It is not Bob Marley who is singing, so stop criticising the rap/reggae mixes. Not all the songs are about rap/reggae. The majority of the songs are reggae.
The extra footage on the video was excellent and surprised me.
Only downfalls in video are "waiting in vain" performance???? and an absense of bunny wailer and bob himself =)
Lauryn Hill (my babes)was awesome, Ziggy was outstanding and Stephan blew the video up with "High Tide or Low Tide".
Overall it is a good video and recommended for those of both old school and new school reggae/rap/ragga

Summary: Guitar Center New Orleans
Review: I work at the Guitar Center in New Orleans and we have been playing this DVD on stage for our customers but I often times find myself as an employee there, dancing and moving and singing along. The video is moving in so many ways. I actually sat down on the stage and tears welled up in my eyes after watching the video. As a person who grew up on Southern Rock, I found a passion for Bob Marley's music and lyrics and found them to be extremely moving and compelling so watching this brought back my old memories of him. I hope everyone enjoys this DVD as much as I can and if not, what the hell... enjoy it your way and always remember to "Smile MON!"

Summary: Mixed bag with some real gems
Review: I'm generally skeptical about tribute concerts, but this one is quite decent. Superb sound and visual quality, and most of it is true to Bob's spirit. The performances vary. I thought the worst by far were the two songs with Chrissie Hynde. I love her from days past, but her movements looked ridiculously forced on stage and musically she just didn't do justice to Bob's genius. I don't follow Lauryn Hill, but I thought she was fabulous, both solo in "Turn the Lights Down Low" and when she teamed up with Ziggy on "Redemption Song." What a voice and stage presence! Chris Robinson sang an incredibly rousing and soulful version of "Kinky Reggae" with Damian Marley. It's always a pleasure to watch another reggae legend, Jimmy Cliff, on stage. He's more subdued than his "Harder They Come" days, but his performance of "No Woman No Cry" with Erykah Badu was very moving, a great tribute to one of Bob's finest songs. Other numbers are mixed, but overall compelling. We can all be grateful that so many of Bob's children took up the torch to continue his musical legacy. I agree with one reviewer that the very talented Ky-Mani Marley should have been included in one of the feature tracks; he only shows up in bonus tracks.

I initially took this DVD out at my local library, and after watching it a couple of times, decided I had to buy it. A nice addition to my Marley collection.

Summary: Excellent Production
Review: May 11, 2001 marks the 20th anniversary of Bob Marley's death yet it seems like only yesterday as these artists keep the memory of Bob Marley alive. The Rap improvizations get a little tiresome and I have to say sometimes "Bob Marley didn't write that part". Ziggy Marley is in top top form and for that reason I rate it 5 stars rather than 3 or 4. I also really liked Tracy Chapman's performances as it looks like she is really enjoying herself and she has a great voice. Ben Harper does a nice version of Get Up, Stand Up and Darius Rucker belts out a spirited version of War. The bonus features make it well worth the price.

Review: the concert editing on the dvd leaves too much time to cheesy songs\artists presentations. its anoying, you have to skeep it.

lauryn hill at her best, she makes this dvd, too bad only 2 songs with her. she makes other artist pale...

Summary: Confirms Marley's music as reference standard for raggae.
Review: The sound of this DVD is excellent. The musicians play impeccably and the only thing that is missing is Bob Marley, himself. Unfortunately, none of the American musicians, not even the black ones, can convey the emotion and spirit of Bob Marley while singing. I was particularly disappointed by Tracy Chapman whose folk style seemed out of place singing Bob Marley songs. With all those dreads on Tracy, she now appears as a JaFaken or a fake Jamaican:-) Before anyone calls me a racist, please know I am as black as you get. Seriously, though, the american black singers on this DVD cannot sing raggae the way the Jamaicans sing it, but a white male rock artist did come close, however, I can't remember his name. Regardless, the band on this DVD is so tight, and the sound is so clean and detailed, and true to the Bob Marley originals that this DVD is worth it to hear the musicians alone. The back ground singers who include Rita Marley, Bob's wife, are also jamming, and they souund very very good. Also, Ziggy Marley, sings a few of his father's compositions and you can genuinely hear Bob's spirit in his son and in the rest of his children for that matter. The bass is as tight as it gets and this DVD will bring out the very best in your audio system. It is truly a reference quality for recording of music. This a must have DVD for anyone who likes Bob Marley songs, which I consider is the best and only raggae music. Even though the american artist sucks, you can listen to the band and tune out the singers, and either do your own thing, and sing along yourself or imagine Bob Marley is singing and tune out the artists. The band is just that good.

Summary: One Love - The Bob Marley All-Star Tribute
Review: This DVD is a "must have" for all serious home theatre enthusiasts that enjoy reggae music. The Dolby 5.1 tracks are fantastic, I have never seen any concert DVD production this good, I dont believe actually being at the concert would have given you a better experience than what this DVD has to offer in the comfort of your home. The video production is simply "in your face awesome".
