Summary: George Benson in concert..........Fantastic!!
Review: I have seen George Benson roughly ten times in concert covering a period of fourteen years and would have seen him more given the opportunity. This performance is based on Benson's concert format used for over ten years, apart from the BBC Big band backing him in this concert.

This DVD perfectly captures Benson live and displays the diversity of his musical talent through Big band (Beyond The Sea etc..), jazz (Breezin etc..), pop (turn your love around etc..) and funk (Give me the night). Added bonuses include an interview with Benson, individual band member interviews and the chance to see Benson perform with Joe Sample from their 'Absolute Benson' collabaration.

It is quite obvious that the actual concert included allot more tracks that Benson usually performs, which didn't make the DVD probably due to format constraints (the only thing missing unfortunately). Hopefully, these will be available someday, but you never know.

I would conclude that this is the only visual media offering I have ever seen of George Benson that you can view on your home TV. A must if your a fan and an insight to his talent if you are inquisitive. I noticed one reviewer wasn't happy with the sound quality. Mine plays and sounds excellent and I only have nicam TV sound and a budget DVD player.

If you are a music lover, you won't regret this purchase as it's a wonderful musical experience.

Summary: MUSICAL & ENTERTAINING
Review: I must say that I'm also one of the many fans who have waited for nearly twenty years for a "Benson" Video and this Video was worth the long wait. But I geuss everybody can have their own opinion about a certain artist.George Benson is truly blessed, he does'nt even have to play the guitar - he can just sing and still teach hundreds of professional singers a trick or two.He is from the old school and has proovin' himself worthy of doing several albums with such greats like "Quincy Jones" and "Tommy Lipuma". As for those negative reviewers please understand that a lot of people come to hear Benson sing and play the guitar, you can not expect him to play solos the whole evening,do a moonwalk and spin on his back. Most of the serious musicians don't have time to sit with the camera crew and explain when they gonna smile or who's gonna take a solo next, they always try and iteract with the band or the audience that's live music. We are music lovers and not a circus audience if you want action then you should buy Michael Jackson,Britney Spears or N'Sync etc...because George Benson does not have to pretend in front of the cameras. You must know that a lot of these great artists have only been fortunate to make videos towards their early sixties like James Brown and B.B.KING'S latest Videos where you get less movements and more music.I see nothing wrong with the "Absolute Benson" DVD the sound and picture qaulity is great. This might be the last G.B Video from this great musician to all his fans worlwide buy it now.

Summary: Absolutely Live is Benson at his Best
Review: I really enjoyed this concert as I am a Benson fan! My only disappointment was with Benson singing his rendishions of "Oldies But Goodies" at the beginning with an orchestra and not concentrating on his own music, which is what his fans purchased this DVD for. But once he began playing with his own group and played his own selections, I felt that I received my money's worth!!! I would still recommend this, but I fast foward the first three songs!!!

Summary: Nothing but Class
Review: I'll tell you from the start, this is Nothing But Class. George really delievers and the sound is GREAT. A pleasant surprise from Joe Sample and the music selection is very good.
HIS MUSIC REACHES YOU, and that's why you would want to get this DVD and have it in your collection. ALL CONCERTS SHOULD BE IN DTS.

Summary: Really good, great new musics and the old ones too
Review: I've been a George Benson fan for many years. This is a Great live recording that accounts for many different styles of George Benson's music. He recorded this concert over a period of a few days and the accompanying musicians changed for different styles.

This has some of the newer music as well as some of the old standards you would expect.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the video includes a Wide Screen anamorphic video that is very well done. If you have a nice home theater, this will impress you.

Summary: WOW! FANTASTIC! ABSOLUTELY!!!
Review: If you bought benson's 80's pop album and know little else of him, then this vid is for you. If not, it is absolute waste! I bought this thinking I was going to see benson the musician. What I got was benson the entertainer. -a cheesy hotstepper mugging for the camera. There were hardly any close-ups of his actual playing. This vid is not for jazz fans looking to really see benson play guitar closeup. The camera work was horrible. You get to see benson singing and dancing from a distance like in a britany spears video, but you almost never see him or his fingers closeup except for a second or two by accident -and even then the shot quality is not good. Jazz fans, take my advice and don't rip yourself off like I did. I know its tempting after having waited so long, and as much as you might want to think that anything is better than nothing -you are wrong. Don't know what benson's handlers were thinking when they put this stinker out, what a disappointment. -especially considering that while we all really dig and admire benson's pop stuff, his core fanbase is very into benson as a jazz musician and virtuouso guitar player. This thing has all the right teasers, but none of the package substance. Bypass, bypass, bypass.

Summary: Needs to be played loud!
Review: Pack your kids away.
Sit back, turn it up and enjoy!!!
By the end of the show, and it is a show, you'll be in heaven just totally enjoying the moment.
Brilliant color, sound, voice, brass section, band, everything.
I bought it for my brothers birthday because one of our favorite concerts we went to was Mr Benson's and we were up the front just like on the DVD. We played it on his birthday and I ordered another on for myself immediately. You'll love it.

Summary: Tres pauvre
Review: pas d'ambiance et aucun intéret pour un DVD (avec des images...), autant acheter un bon CD !

Summary: Some cheese, but he's still great..
Review: The big band stuff could've been left out, although the BBC big band is pretty decent and the arrangements are great. The songs with only his band and Joe Sample are what most fans are probably going to like. The DVD includes a bit on how the film was made, some interview segments, a bio and photo gallery. The interview segments are really corny. But for any real fan this is a must own, especially with the lack of video material available for Benson fans.
