Summary: A must for any JT fan!
Review: Being raised by parents who were huge fans, James Taylor has been a part of my entire life. I have been to numerous concerts, but, alas, James does not tour as extensively as he used to. This DVD is the perfect cure for the need to see him live. The audio quality is superb, and the video is as crisp as being there. I usually run this when I have friends over, sometimes we don't even turn on the TV, we just listen. I also give it as a gift to every friend who adds DVD to their home theater. The only way to make this better is to have an audio-only version (which does not exist from what I can see) for the car. Just buy it, and you'll find yourself watching it more than you could ever imagine!

Summary: I enjoyed this DVD tremendously - sound and picture 5/5
Review: I have seen James Taylor live countless times and every time he sounds better. This DVD knocked me out. Not only was Mr Taylor immaculate in his interpretation and selection of his repertoire, he delivered them with so much ease and comfort. Of course he had a great band backing him. (Shame that Carlos Vega and Don Grolnick are no longer with us) but their replacements were brilliant. The addition of horns and the 'funk' element creeping in to "Me and My Guitar" was, in my opinion, the highlight of the concert. This should not, by any means, put a slur on the other songs on the DVD. Every song deserves special mention. Additional material is also fabulous. This is one DVD I love 'showing off' to all my friends who visit. LOVE IT!!!!!!

Summary: A must for true JT fans!
Review: If you are a James Taylor fan you must have this DVD. I saw this concert when it was originally broadcast on PBS and the DVD is so much better, especially if you have surround sound. The bonus JT videos reminded me of why they are never seen om MTV or VH1!

Summary: JT + Symphony = success
Review: To "A Viewer" who had doubts about JT with a symphony... I caught his symphonic tour in 1996, and it was incredible. His classics took on a new life, and he did several standards (i.e. Gershwin, Berlin) which were just as amazing. I hope the rumor is correct, because JT backed with a symphony is absolutely wonderful.

Oh yeah, "Live at the Beacon Theater" is great as well!

Summary: Something to JT's next album.
Review: I got an e-mail from Joel Riesberg one afternoon, I was checking my e-mail, and his letter said that JT's next album was going to be a symphony record. I don't mind symphony, but I, however think that James is good the way he is. The same old folk singer playing a guitar. I'm not really one for symphony, and I couldn't imagine JT singing symphony, that just wouldn't be right. It'd still be the same, just different music. He was good when I saw him at the Gorge up in Washington, best birthday present I ever got and ever will get.

Summary: Good video, Poor 5.1 sound
Review: The color and camera shots are great, but again Sony has messed up a good concert with HT capabilities. The audio on this concert would match pro-logic (VHS)It's too bad Sony has to have their way on things they don't have full rights to.You want to hear 5.1 that rocks, rent John Fogerty on Netflix, you'll understand what dolby digital is all about.....

Summary: Heaven on Earth
Review: One critic wrote of James Taylor's "Hourglass" album ".....if heaven has a soundtrack, this is it!"

Well, the same could be said of this video/DVD. Considering that JT had recently completed a European tour with a much smaller band (no backing singers etc.)and had tragically lost the services of drummer Carlos Vega, the quality of this concert is amazing. Taylor's choice of songs mean that there is something for everyone, from the old favourites like "Fire and Rain" (with a wonderful cello introduction) through modern classics like "Copperline" to "Line 'em up" from the aforesaid "Hourglass".

It has come to be expected from James Taylor concerts that the standard of musicianship will be of the highest and this concert is up to that standard. Special mention must go to Steve Jordan on drums who must have had the minimum of rehearsal time after the death of Carlos Vega.

There never seems to be a dull moment at a JT concert and, although edited for TV coverage, this vides/DVD provides the viewer with a taste of the atmosphere and of JT's humour. Enjoy it!!

Summary: This is what DVD and Dolby Digital was created for!
Review: This is a no brainer ... a must have for anyone who even casually likes JT. The clarity and digital sound add enormously to the listening and viewing pleasure that you will receive. After watching this DVD you will be playing all of your old JT tracks again!!

Summary: THE BEST SOUND & PICTURE QUALITY
Review: IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO JUST SIT BACK AND RELAX THIS IS THE DVD FOR YOU. NEVER OVERBEARING BUT IT DOES NOT DRAG EITHER.
