Summary: a great band renews the faithful waiting.
Review: This gifted group of five brought forth each of their own enormous abilities to shine on one of the most unusual stage sets one has seen in years. The stage looking like a cross between a mother ship of the Future and Star Trek [above the band] was the epitome of "cool".This proof is in the pudding concert for selected friends and others was crowned by the wave of nostalgia of the best music. Founding members,Fleetwood and the McVies and Buckingham&Nicks shook off the pre-show jitters to a magnificent night.The calmed,layed back style of the McVies balanced nicely with the building momentum of the vocals from Nicks,solo guitar of Buckingham and the drumming of the wild and always giving Fleetwood.Each musician allowed to shine by the others and nodding smiles was proof they loved their night.Too bad the CD/cassette did not include all the music of the evening.Let's hope this was not the last dance for Fleetwood Mac.

Summary: About the audio
Review: Just got this DVD. It must be that some of the early copies of this DVD were defective in some way. While the audio is not up to the James Taylor or the Roy Orbison DVDs (hence the 4 stars, would give 4.5, if I could), it is still of high quality. It is not flat nor non-detailed as one reviewer mentioned, so I would not let that influence my purchasing decision. The concert itself is great with tremendous musicianship.

Summary: I'm not worthy!
Review: Being a mere mortal i am hesitant to even begin to rate this come back by Fleetwood Mac.How these gods and goddesses managed to get together to perform for us mere mortals is a miracle!Seriously,this is one of the finest(in my opinion)shows put on by any classic rock and roll group in a long time and is setting a standard for all other rock groups to rise to.Stevie Nicks(looking good-must be witchcraft),Christie Mcvie,John Mcvie,Mick fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham are all giving their all during this performance.They manage to work in all their major hits,plus some new stuff thrown in for good measure.The electricity between these group members seems to want to jump from the stage and at times literally seems to do so.If like the majority of us you were not able to attend oneof their concerts than please do yourself a big favor and purchase the DVDor at least the VHS of this concert.You will be doing yourself a huge favor by doing so!

Summary: Mac is Back!
Review: What a comeback! Whether you're a hard-core fan or just a "greatest hits" listener, this recording will have something for you. The selection of songs performed was impeccable; from the mainstream pop anthem "Don't Stop" to the underrated gem "Silver Springs." I would give special mention to the section with Lindsey Buckingham soloing on a few pieces. What can I say? The man is a genius. I would have to pick the live version of "I Go Insane" as one of the high points of the video. As are "Gold Dust Woman" and especially the moving "Silver Springs" and "Landslide". The band's sound is a bit different, but at the same time, familiar to fans.

Summary: Nostalgic moments can't disguise formulaic concert
Review: Although the concert gives you some touching moments, like: Don't Stop, Tusk or Everywhere; the result of it brings mixed emotions. The band plays impecably, though sometimes heartlessly and the choices of the repertoir are also uneven. Younger audiences would have wanted more songs from Tango in the Night. Anyhow, Lindsay Buckingham is a treat and you can tell that Mick Fleetwood is having fun. On the other hand, John & Christie McVie look like a couple of bored english teachers few minutes before the recess bell. The sound is a little bit artificial for a live set. This should be a fans only dvd.

Summary: Excellent Fleetwood Mac
Review: Be wary listening to the criticisms of the sound quality on this DVD. The Dance is the best-sounding concert recording I've heard. The sound is artificially surround distributed, which may be what the critics are whining about, but personally I think it's better because the band sounds much closer than other DVD's and you can hear each instrument including the maracas and tamborines crisply and clearly.Notice that the criticisms ALWAYS compare to only 2 DVD's: Eagles and James Taylor. These are apparenty the Holy Grails but if you don't have DTS, you're not one of the few Taylor fans out there, or you want more than 2 DVD's on your shelf, try the Dance. Unless you're an "audiophile" who MUST use vacuum-tube monoblocks for each channel and triple shielded super-conducting speaker cable or else your ears feel pain, I think you'll like it.

Summary: The Good and The Bad of The Dance
Review: A mass of contradictions, this performance. From high to low: there's a positively spine-tingling moment in the first encore that gets a more visceral response from me than ANY other moment in any rock video I've seen. And Lindsey is a treat to watch -- passionate, engaged, and musically at peak form. Mick too looks like he's having fun. The musicianship is actually quite good. And sound and photography are excellent (thank goodness someone learned from Jonathan Demme that no one wants to see endless audience shots). But Christine, Stevie and John all seem bored to death, and there's a slight undercurrent of antagonism -- the band members hardly interact at all.
