Summary: Still making great music!
Review: Whenever I see this type of reunion concert, I tend to expect the worst... a bunch of burnouts in a pathetic attempt to rekindle any type of flame. Fleetwod Mac, however, can still hang with anyone in contemporary music. Lindsey Buckingham's guitar rocks throughout. His range- from the sensitive to the harsh- this boy can rock with anyone. His performance on go insane, big love, etc... is just incredible. Also, the banjo on Say you love me is fantastic. The vocals from Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks are at least as good as they were 20 years ago. I saw them live in about 1979, and they were great then, and amazingly perhaps better now. Mic is playing great and the drums rock and roll throughout as well. I was surprised to find that there are several excellent new songs.. bleed to love her and temporary one.. for example. This is a great concert DVD you'll play over and over. Everyone seems to want to compare it to the Eagles dvd, which I don't understand.. After all, can't they both be outstanding?? The sound quality and clarity is excellent here, but it's not DTS. Silver springs and Go your own way are my favorites. Lindsey's guitar dominates this concert.

Summary: A Fantastic DVD!
Review: I have always been aware of Fleetwood Mac, but for some reason never got into them..til now! It's primarily because of this DVD and accompanying CD. I stumbled across the CD in my husband's collection and thought it was great. After buying the 2CD greatest hits collection, I figured my DVD assortment needed a bit of Mac, so I went for THE DANCE. I was not disappointed.
This DVD is absolutely fantastic. The sound is great, the picture is excellent, the song selection hits all the classic material, and the band just blows me away. Many of the songs, like "Say You Love Me," "Big Love" and "Landslide," come across even better here than the original studio cuts. Although Stevie Nicks isn't hitting all the high notes in songs like "Dreams," opting to hit lower notes that fit in the song, she still sounds great. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie pack a powerful bottom end punch. Christine McVie, even though looking bored at times throughout the show, sounds crystal clear (and her song "Temporary One" is a major highlight). My favorite is watching Lindsey Buckingham play his unique style of guitar, which I have become enamoured with. A particular favorite moment is his solo rendition of "Big Love." Too quote one Jeff Spicoli, "Awesome. Totally awesome!" One final added bonus, and missing from the CD, is Christine McVie's playing of "Songbird" at the end of the show.
I honestly can't find a bad thing to say about this disc. Whether you're a seasoned Fleetwood Mac fan, just starting your collection, or just looking for a video version of their best material, this DVD should hit the spot!

Summary: Get it and enjoy
Review: A friend brought me this while visiting to play on "The System" (tm).
After running it on the big screen, and in DD5.1, I ordered it the next day. I've now given it as a gift twice.

A good concert, with a well behaved (read: Studio) audience. Excellent Video and Audio (PCM and DD5.1 on a two sided disk).

I note the PCM show is slightly different than the DD5.1 show, so check them both out. This was shot over 3 nights as specified in the liner notes.

With Christine McVie "retired", this may be the last time you'll ever see them ALL Together.

Summary: Mindblowing
Review: I never thought I could ever fall in love with a band quite like I did with Fleetwood Mac. And all upon watching this magical concert. Fleetwood Mac are one of the most legendary, enduring bands ever, and this 1997 concert showcases them in all their reunited glory, after years of bad relationships they decided to come together one last time. I guess it was meant to be and the magic shone through... ever song, every move, everything about this concert is perfect. I had the videotape but I just had to get the DVD. The choice of songs here is outstading, ranging from their biggest hits (Dreams, Don't Stop, Tusk, Gypsy, Big Love, Go Your Own Way, etc) to more obscure songs (Silver Springs!!!!!) and new stuff. Everything is in this package. THE most touching moment for me is, of course, "Silver Springs", a beautiful "left-over" (b-side) from the Rumours era (there's a story behind it!) which proves that FM can make beautiful, touching and compelling music. The closing number, "Songbird", is every bit as heartbreaking as it was in the 70s. Please, do yourself a favor and get this. It will make you cry and rejoice... after years of owning it, it still floors me everytime!

Summary: An Instant Classic!!!!
Review: Im a 19 year-old college student and I saw "The Dance" for first time in April on PBS and became an instant fan that night. I went right out and bought "Tango in the Night" and "Rumours". I never enjoyed classic rock until I watched this concert. The DVD's sound quality and the performance are nearly flawless.

My picks of the night included "Everywhere", "Gypsy", "Go Insane" and "You Make Loving Fun". Stevie's vocals on "Gold Dust Woman" and "Silver Springs" are intense and give me chills every time I hear them. Lyndsay's guitar work is spectacular (his solo on "Gypsy" is perfect) and Mick and John's driving pulse equally infectious. Christine is still my favorite and even though her stage presence is somewhat lacking, she is a briliant song-writer and musician whose voice is is in top form, "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii".

The new material was outstanding, with the exception of "My Little Demon" (I just don't get it!). "Sweet Girl" and "Temporary One" could have been on any of the classic albums.

I only wish that there had been room for a few more songs. Why wasn't "Sara" in the set list. My personal requests would have been to ditch "Demon" and "I'm so Afraid" in favor of "Monday Morning" and "Second Hand News". It would be nice if Christine would have done "Little Lies" and "Hold Me" and Stevie could have added in "Sara" and "Seven Wonders". Even though their "classic" material is mostly associated with the seventies, it would have been nice to see their 80's pop gems get their due.

This DVD showcases the band in top form; expert performers finely tuned in their craft. The piano in "Rhiannon" and the banjo on "Say You Love Me" were perfect touches for the night. Stevie's expressions during "Landslide" timeless, "I'm getting older, too....." makes you realize that they are all in their fifties now. John and Mick prove once again that that they are perhaps the premier bass line of the past quarter-century. I suggest getting "The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac" and giving "Say You Will" a shot. Some of the material is pretty good (listen to "Steal Your Heart Away"). That being said, this DVD is a treasure you need to buy and share.

Summary: Still One of the Best You'll Ever Hear
Review: Fleetwood Mac sounds even better than they did in the 70's. I don't think I've ever heard a live performance sound quite this good before. All of the members, with the exception of Christine McVie, have lost a little of the high end in their voices, but it dosen't really affect the performances. Many of the classic hits are done here, and some of them, Christine McVie's great oldie, "Say You Love Me" for example, are done in an unplugged version. This effort even brought her out from behind her keyboards to sing, and play the tamborine. Lindsey Buckingham, is one of the most underated guitarist of all time. His playing on "Big Love", and "Go Insane" is incrediable. Stevie Nicks can still sing with the best of them. She finally gets to make a hit out the never-released-on-an-album song "Silver Springs". All of the singing members of the group bring new songs to the stage as well. McVie's "Temporary One", and Buckinham's "Bleed to Love Her", are the best. If you want the full performance, you'll have to buy the DVD, or VHS, of the concert. The CD release cuts out a large number of great old songs, like the closing classic, "Songbird", to be worth the purchase. All in all, Fleetwood Mac, shows that, like the Eagles reunion, some groups really do get better with age.

Summary: Stevie Nicks, go back to drugs....
