Summary: hendrix in motion
Review: I felt I must review this film, since the previous review must have come from someone with no appriciation for Jimi Hendrix. This film fills your mind with the visions and dreams which flow with the music created by Hendrix. Many of the scenes are creative and humorous, with witty effects to escape the low budget from which it was produced with. The last reviewer must not know what Jimi Hendrix looks like, because he appears throughout the film, acting and singing. This is a must have if you are a Hendrix enthusiast, it is a classic, and if you don't agree..........

Summary: terrible, Terrible TERRIBLE!
Review: I have this on tape and what a disgrace to Jimi it is! I bet if Hendrix saw this now, he would be angrier than heck. The part where Hendrix comes in is good. The only reason why I'm gonna give this three stars is because of the hendrix performance itself. There are some great teeth sections on foxy lady and purple haze but otherwize this one stinks. JImi's whole performance isn't shown but his comical side is.

Summary: Very Little Jimi Here
Review: if you're like me, you saw the title of this movie (JIMI HENDRIX Rainbow Bridge) and assumed it was a Hendrix concert film. Well, it isn't. Hendrix does play at the end, but the rest of the movie is really boring- and I love psychedelic, trippy 60s-era movies too. But this was just not good. Don't buy this if you want a Hendrix concert or a Hendrix documentary.

Review: music is the language of the gods, and surfing is the dance of cosmic light, energy, ocean power. All life evolved from the sea. This period in time changed our perception of our goverment control on life, liberty, and the american dream. It is the enemy within that we must control.

Summary: Pretentious relic of an era's excesses
Review: NOTE: I am reviewing the older video release of this movie, because I do not intend to rush out and buy the new one. Having said that, I have watched, and rewatched, my first-release video of this film a number of times. Believe me, there's a REASON most Hendrix fans never saw the full film as opposed to the familiar excerpts of Hendrix on the volcano running through his stuff (not very well recorded here, either): limited coherence, drugs everywhere, whiny groupies, no narrative motion beyond "hey we're gonna have Jimi play real soon now ...." Since the recent authorized reissues of film and recordings by Experience Hendrix have been so spectacular perhaps this artifact (whoever is releasing it this time around) has restored what strikes me as missing from this film - a rationale for its existence - but I have my doubts. Some of the "goovey" bit players in this mock-u-mentary add decibels to the sound of "annoying".

Summary: The Weird Yet.....Not Worth A Buy
Review: Of course I buy every Jimi Hendrix record, dvd, etc but when it comes down to Rainbow Bridge I start to get frustrated at a film that could have been good but really was not..........The rumor has it the Rainbow Bridge concert was supposly stolen from the directors and now does not have its place in full format. This Rainbow Bridge really does not deserve to put Hendrix on the cover the reason they have him on the cover is to take your money. I bought this being very excited to see Hendrix on the cover! Wow I thought this Maui concert would be good until the long movie came to the end their was uncomplete hendrix material.

As soon as the concert beings Hendrix starts with Hey Baby the vocals sound really bad and it seems like the recordings is really garbled sound quality wise. Then hendrix plays Foxy Lady which is really bad. Then their is all uncomplete material includings a short minute of Red House, and more!!!!!I was really disapointed having to got put through 125 minutes of hippies really no story!!!! The DVD is similar to the VHS I have both...... the DVD has better picture quality. But I really think this DVD is a way to take your money like I said before im sorry because I really love all of the hendrix dvd's but this one really is bad both in and out. Dont let the cover fool you!

Summary: Wait and wait .......
Review: Only for hardcore Jimi fans. This is a documentary about a pop fest in hawaii. Not nearly as good as "Woodstock" the movie, sometimes kinda cheesy with lotsa footage of Jimi, stoned to the bone, mumbling a bunch of nonsense. You will have to fast forward A LOT to get to Jimi playing. Is it worth it ? I don't know. Very little Jimi, too much everything else......

Summary: Phenominal Phootage of Hendrix in a Phoolish Film
Review: Rainbow Bridge is only worth having for the amazing performance footage of Hendrix on top of Haleakala infront of maybe 600 fans. While they cut and paste the concert shots, wasting what must be more astonishing footage which can be heard on the Bootleg album Hendrix:Maui, what they leave in is still a magical collection of Hendrix rarieties including HeyBaby(New Rising Sun).Altogether there is about 20 minutes of searing concert footage, along with about 10 minutes of what appears to be Hendrix on acid babbling on in the wee hours that is more amusing than embarrassing, wrapped around a completely worthless excuse for a movie. Someone with the original masters should can the hippy-movie crap and restore the concert footage to its original 90 minutes of unrestrained glory. Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox are fantastic as the back up band, the setting is spectacular, the music is all Jimi all the time. Buy it and erase the first 50 minutes.
