Summary: Keep Singing...Don't Stop....
Review: Bocelli himself tells us on this DVD that he met his wife when he was singing in a piano bar. I had two simultaneous thoughts. One, the woman would have been powerless to resist him just upon hearing him. Secondly, what must have the patrons have felt like after walking into a piano bar for a drink or conversation upon hearing this singing? I would have been absolutely bowled over. I can't imagine carrying on a conversation with anyone, or even drinking, while this force of nature cascaded over me. Do I know much about opera? I've seen movies of various operas and I have seen it live. I prefer it in movie format, which marks me as a philistine right from the start. I also have a few recordings of operas and my favorite is one that has all the prime cuts from the movie versions. A philistine again, right? I read some librettos in the distant past, prior to seeing live performances, and have no desire to do so again. I vastly prefer reading subtitles on the movie version. Yes again to being crass and common! That's the extent of my knowledge. So I'm probably an average American in evaluating this DVD. What Bocelli has got, I can assure you that everyone, except someone wholly cut off from his or her feelings, will be able to appreciate. Beyond an absolutely perfect voice, he embodies pure emotion as conveyed by sound. You therefore need know nothing about opera to become a committed fan of his in a moment. He also performs several stunning duets that you won't soon forget. I can't believe the studio has this DVD out of release and hopefully it will correct this big mistake soon.

Summary: Sorry, ¿professional¿ singers.....Andrea rules!
Review: Many so-called "professional" studiers of opera and the voice treat Andrea Bocelli like s**t. That's probably 'cause they say Andrea hasn't made his professional mark. True, he may not be a professional, but ever since I heard him, I never grew weary of him. Even the young Luciano Pavarotti, on the 1967 recording of Verdi's "Requiem," just left me little interested in his Bocelli-like sentimental clichés, but if I heard him now, he wouldn't take my breath away. He even said so himself: Andrea is better than him. The professionals who hate Andrea and call him an impostor obviously just think Bocelli can't hack it in opera. They may think that Andrea sounds like a stand-up comedian wanting to become popular. Bulls**t. I think sexy Bocelli did enough to blow away the likes of the Three Tenors, whom he makes seem like the Three Stooges, professionals or not. Where the Three Tenors and several other classical singers I used to like, Sarah Brightman in particular, just drew me and then let go after a while, this man Andrea practically floored me, so much that now I'm held prisoner for life. To believe that no classical singer can ever wake me up out of my love for sexy Bocelli. I'm only 17, and it seems that I may be the youngest devout fan of Andrea Bocelli in the history of the world.....

Summary: WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS 10 STARS PLUS! ! ! !
Review: At first I came here to gush about Andrea, instead, after reading the reviews I find myself thinking more about the responses of reviewers to each other!

This review page is with out a doubt one of the most funniest entertaining anti vs pro Andrea pages I have yet read, Im looking forward to the other albums Andrea has graced us with, eagerly waiting to read more childish bickering, honestly folks surely we can be more adult about our opinions and share what we think without a barrage of anti/pro mentality?

I am unashamedly a forever fan of Andrea Bocelli, no amount of bad mouthing would turn me away from this guy, unless of course, he leaves his wife for Sarah Brightman (CRINGE, SHIVER, SHAKE! , as you can see I dont like her! )The point being, you either love him our hate him, either way its only an opinion, in other words if negative or positive views annoy you then why not count to 10 and deal with it!

But hey thanks for the laughs all you reviewers out there, Andrea's bank account and I have thoroughly enjoyed your interesting views!

Summary: Bravo........Andrea Bocelli
Review: I love Bocelli, couldn't ever get my husband to listen to opera until we bought this DVD, now my husband loves to put it on to show off the theater room. Excellent DVD, even if you don't care for opera you will love this tape. Several musical guests, including Sara Brightman, and Zuccharo, my husbands favorite now. We even bought two more of Bocelli CD's to listen to, Romanza and Sogna.

Summary: Elitism aside...
Review: It is amazing to me that Andrea Boccelli appears to cause some such outrage and concern. In their condescending way they discredit this man because he isn't a "real" singer. What matters is how the music makes you feel when you listen to it. Perhaps I'm uneducated in music, but, though I have never been an opera buff, listening to this DVD, and watching the beautiful staging of the concert, makes me tingle in a way that few other albums do. Boccelli is, to my humble, simplistic ear, perfect, performing in a magical setting and introducing me to music that I otherwise would probably have ignored. If you have ever visited Tuscany, this disc will bring back wonderful memories of a tremendous place. If you have never been there, get this disc and watch. It's the next best thing to being there!

Purists, elitists and snobs may not like Boccelli, but I feel that this disc is superb both in musical content and in theatrical beauty. Bravo, Andrea!

Summary: ...
Review: The emotion and passion are inherent in the music itself.Thats why I think [Bocelli] keeps to the more Romantic level in hissinging. If he was singing Mozart he would not be able to get awaywith this kind of schmaltzy singing. With Romantic Opera some singers are able to get away with awful singing and then say that they are verismo singers and have sacrificed for the emotion of the piece. This is an insult to true practitioners of the verismo style of which many Puccini operas are a part of. This is not true with Bocelli. He has not the technical background to support his "passionate " singing and for people to make excuses saying that his passion, which by the way I find very trite and superficial, to be a mistake of the highest order. Don't get me wrong the man has his uses. People who like him may buy songs from better singers and actually find out what true classical voice really is. But to put him on the same level as the best singers in the business when he can't even be heard without a microphone is an insult to people who have put 30 years of work to allow their voices to support the passion of both the composer and themselves.

Summary: Try a little tenderness
Review: You really have to sympathize with ourfriend"Figaro",because he really missed the boat on thisone. It all comes down to one thing,PASSION,and it`s something that Mr.Bocelli has a wealth of. Try to put yourself in Puccini`s or Verdi`s shoes when they were writing this wonderful material. I don`t see either of them turning in their grave upon hearing Bocelli`s emotional renditions of their works. I don`t claim to be any kind of classical afficionado, but I know what I like, and what moves me. Listen to Bocelli`s aria album, and then the one by Jose Cura. They are like chalk & cheese. Andrea Bocelli is a breath of fresh air in a field of stuffy,over-the-hill tenors, and all I can say about this video is"Bravo!" It is truly wonderful,as is his recent"Sacred Arias"video. Mind you,I have to agree with Figaro about Sarah Brightman. It pays to have connections!

Summary: Sorry, "expert" singers...Viva Andrea !
Review: I have loudly laughed myself reading the negative comments of some "professional singers and experts" who have added negative reviews about Andrea Bocelli, especially "Figaro" and his followers. All I can say is that when some people get to know (or seem to know) too much about something they lose the ability to enjoy good things. This guy Figaro recommends the Three Tenors...Well, I have listened to them...Carreras, Placido Domingo, I have listened to Pavarotti's songs, too...But, sorry, I had never felt anything special for that stuf... On the other hand, I have felt all kinds of wonderful emotions listening to Andrea's songs. If that happens because I am an ignorant about technical aspects of singing, I don't care. Thank God it happens like that! I had not been so enthusiastic about any other singer in my life as I am for Andrea Bocelli. Viva Andrea!

Summary: Don't listen to the jerks on line
Review: To say that Bocelli can't sing is to say the tears on my cheeks weren't real as I listened to him. I didn't use any test equipment to analyze his voice, I used my heart instead. Few vocalist can wrap their life around your heart as he does. Andrea has brought me to the alter of Classical music and forced me to give it a chance. Count me in. Count me an Andrea fan.
