Summary: Incomplete CD re-release
Review: Nice live soundtrack to the movie. However, the original record album contained more songs and a lavish book, which are nowhere to be found on this CD release. Am anxiously awaiting a completed, remastered reissue, which would earn the 5 star rating.

Summary: A must see for who fans
Review: This is a phenomenal video. It's a great documentary, but fun at the same time because everyone in this band is a crack-up. If you haven't seen it and aren't a big who fan, you will be.

Summary: Great movie, the video is a chop job!
Review: Anyone who digs the Who digs The Kids Are Alright. The MOVIE isn't the problem here. The editing of the orginal movie for VHS release created a VERY incomplete version of what was. The mini-opera A Quick One While He's Away is cut by two thirds. The tape also contains other "shells" of great tunes and live performances. In short, the movie was severely tampered with when edited to tape and whoever did that is not only fooling the buyer, he's falsely marketing tampered artistry! Boo! I want the complete movie, occaisionally aired on late nite cable!!

Summary: I love this video!!! It's the best birthday present ever.
Review: This is such a good video showing every thing about the who. If you are a Who fan you will love it. It shows what kind of people they really are, and some of the funniest moments and best preformences.

Summary: The Rockumentary of The Who.
Review: The greatest rock movie about the gratest rock band of all time. See this video and you will know why. The so-called "shock" groups of today should see "The Kids Are Alright" to see how it is supposed to be done.

Summary: Documentary of The Who, through music and interviews
Review: Having not seen the film in nearly 20 years, I can see that not only was it one of the best rock film soundtracks (now on CD, sans booklet - shucks) but one of the most compelling rock biog's as well. But - here's the thing - I could swear I remember other clips, other songs - like Entwhistle's killer "My Wife," "Boris the Spider," "I Can See for Miles," and so on. I don't remember that songs faded in the middle, and I definitely don't remember the SECOND (or third?) rendition of "My Generation." "My Wife" and "See for Miles" are even listed on the packaging - so where are they? Otherwise... Townshend's no-punches-pulled opinions are a real hardcore viewing experience, and seeing the band members in action on and off the stage is a real revelation. This is still a great film, much too long delayed to video.

Summary: Some of The Who's best
Review: This cd may as well be a greatest hits collection for The Who. Most of their popular songs are on here. However, most of the songss are from studio recordings, failing to capture the thing that made The Who so great: The energy and emotion of their live performances.

Summary: The Kids are Alright??? Maybe??
Review: Absolutely essential for Who fans, and nearly so for everybody else. I like to think of it as the non-fiction version of "Spinal Tap." Just as funny but with better music.

Summary: This tape is edited!
Review: This film by Jeff Stein has inspired so many imitators - Spinal Tap, MTV, etc. That the 'ORIGINAL' rock opera 'A Quick One', which was so instrumental in spawning 'Tommy' and subsequently, 'Quadrophenia' is sadly edited out of this tape, is a shame for all.

When this film was released, the entire 10 minutes of 'A Quick One' was presented from 'The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus' - a treasured and short lived BBC TV series and which ended up becoming the most pivotal segment in this film.

That 'A Quick One' is edited in this tape from 10 minutes to 2 minutes is completely inexcusable. This rare, live, musical rock treasure of love and forgiveness is gone in this tape - perhaps forever.

Who's responsible?

Summary: What's Up with The Who DVD's?
Review: ...That's available in the UK, but with only stereo audio... I will say that the "Tommy" DVD has stunning 5.1 audio, using the original "Quintaphonic" mixes...
