Summary: the old better than the new
Review: I should rate this 5 stars but it what cause me great pain. I have been a genesis fan way back when the were a band few new but those that did knew how special they really were. If anyone could ever find me a "Seconds Out" DVD I would appreciate it but I do not think it was ever produced. That to me is Genesis and what they stand for. If you really want to do yourself a favor get the disc and sit and enjoy. Back to this DVD. Well produced an its hard not to like collins and great musicians. Bottom line is for those that love Genesis it is one to add to your collection. The old medly is what I enjoyed the most and it does not give it justice as those songs on "Seconds Out" You won't be dissapointed...

Summary: Feels like you're at the concert!!
Review: I was so impressed with this dvd set! The concert is great and the number of cameras they had along with the superb editing really make you feel like you' re at the show. The multi-angle feature is awesome! To me, it's totally worth having to split up the show on 2 dvds to add the angle options. It really feels like you're watching it live when you pick an angle and watch it uncut for a while. I especially liked some of the isolated cameras that were on Phil so I could see some of the funny and interesting things he was doing which you couldn't always necessarily see in the full edit. Phil really gives it his all in this show, and though his voice cracks a few times, he really sings the heck out of each and every song. Ample screen time is also given to Tony, Michael, Chester, and Daryl. The interviews included on both dvds with Mike, Phil and Tony are great because they give some nice insights into the concert set and song histories. But what happily surprised me most about this concert is that none of the songs were from the same recordings that were on the live albums that went along with this tour! It was great to hear slightly different nuances in these live performances than the ones I am used to hearing on the live cds...like Phil singing a bit of "Misunderstanding" in the old medley instead of "You're Own Special Way", or him calling gasoline "Petro" in "Jesus He Knows Me" for the London audience. The audience was actually one of the only disappointing things about this dvd. For most of it they seem pretty dull and are sitting down and don't appear to add a lot of energy to the show. But luckily near the concert's end they stand up and cheer more and there is more interaction between them and the band. Overall, a fantastic dvd and a great addition to any Genesis fans' library! And the menus and opening to this dvd rock!

Summary: Not their best
Review: If you like the Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance albums, get this DVD. If you want to hear anything else, you'll be disappointed. The best thing about this DVD is it's the entire concert and not something edited down (although early on in the tour they went into Mama from Hold On My Heart; that would've been a nice addition). If you like old Genesis, the Old Medley is great but only offers short bits and a hint of what those songs could sound like if played in their entirety. They played it early on to get it out of the way, then got back to the new stuff. And the commentary isn't very interesting. At one point a cel phone rings and you hear one side of a conversation. They could've at least stopped the commentary and started over at that point. And they just seem tired. If you want to see the band as they were right before they hit it really big and Phil Collins' solo career took off, get the Mama Tour video if you can find it. It's got the band at their best and most energetic, with a nice mix of old and new (at the time) songs. Hopefully it will come out on DVD someday, and with additional footage.

Summary: where is the music
Review: Maybe I was just expecting more after viewing Roxy Music(just awesome),Cranberries,Pink Floyd (Pulse--vhs) and Talking Heads I was,sad to say, dissapointed. It is more of a Phil Collins concert video, which is okay, instead of a Genesis concert. This concert is on two dvds, part of concert is on two different discs,Ihave no idea why that was done, its anoying. Its very difficult to find your way around on this disc menu I thought I was playing "Jesus He Knows Me" and a live commentary track kept playing over the music ;I thought I had some annoying sound interference from a stray radio signal.Plus if I want a slide show and interviews I will buy a book. They should have put all music on one dvd left the junk out then it would be a 4 but not a 5

Summary: CRAP!!!! Steve Hackett's "Tokyo Tapes" is better than this!
Review: The BRC(Banks/Rutherford/Collins)band formerly known as "Genesis" still yet puts out very bad material from very bad albums. Steve Hackett put out a DVD called "Tokyo Tapes". On this DVD Steve plays the FULL versions of "Watcher of the Skies", "Firth of Fifth", "In That Quiet Earth", I Know What I Like, Los Endos, and many others. With Chester Thomson on Drums and other talented members of the progressive rock community. As poser fans don't know Steve Hackett was the guitar player and writter for Genesis from 1971-1977 when Genesis was a respected rock band.I would avoid this, this is nothing but pop garbage!! THIS IS THE BRC BAND NOT GENESIS!

Summary: Long Time Fan
Review: The first time I saw/listened to this I wasn't that impressed. However, on the second run through, it really was a great selection. The third time I loved it... The Old Medley is awesome as is Driving the Last Spike. The translation to 5.1 is not the best, but definitely gets by. I would heartily recommend this for any Genesis fan.
