Summary: Hole belongs in a deep hole.
Review: Some of the bad lyrics: How can people be so blind? - Like who? YOURSELF!! Fussing and fighting over who will be annointed-people are not fussing and fighting, they are being blown apart and dying!! If you want to roll over and give up everything our people have fought and died for, GO AHEAD! Donate all you've got to the peace lovers and I'll move into your house and take over your family. I'm all for peace, but this weak-minded garbage sounds like bending over and liking it. So are you saying you dont care who the leader of the free/not free world is? Well heck, run this tune over and over around the globe and convince everybody it doesn't matter, then just give the world to me! Thanks.

Summary: A Hole In One!
Review: The Eagles are now officially a quartet: Glen Frey, Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh. Their harmonizing on "Hole In The World" is reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. It is one of the best sounding songs the Eagles have ever done. The video is also very well produced, focusing on the group in the recording studio. I especially like how the video ends, as Joe Walsh gives a knowing wink to the camera and unplugs his electric guitar. My problem with this release is its repetitiveness. First there is the video of the song with a 5.1 mix, followed by the same video with a stereo mix, followed by outtakes from the video with an abbreviated version of the song. By the time I got to the second disc, which is the audio version of the song, I was thinking enough of the same song already! The backstage pass to the Farewell 1 Concert Tour contains footage of the Eagles on the road, making jokes and rehearsing. Personally, I would have preferred having a bonus live song instead.

Summary: The Band Still Has It......
Review: The Eagles are one of the premiere bands of the past, present and soon to be the future. This DVD/CD is living proof of that. The single here for their newest song, "Hole In The World," is a must-have. It's a rare occasion when a single can come this stacked. The single itself is a two-disc collection. The song "Hole In The World" is a beautiful piece of work and is pure Eagles with their great melodies and harmonic superiority. The first disc in the set is a DVD. The disc features two versions of the video. The video is the same, only difference is that it is presented in different audio formats. The video is also a nice piece of work as it features the band performing in the studio. Also on the disc is a making of the video that features the typical bloopers and such, and this is a nice treat. Lastly, there is a behind the scenes feature of the band on tour, and it provides a nice insight to a great band. The second disc is simply the audio version of the song, which could easily stand alone as well. This is an excellent collection and I highly recommend it. The Eagles are an amazing band, and this two-disc set helps in proving that they can still do what they do best......and that is perform.

Summary: Still Soaring!
Review: The Eagles have been one of the most influential groups of the 20th century, and their new single, "Hole In The World," is a continuation of that. Penned by Don Henley and Glenn Frey, who wrote so many of the Eagles' classic hits, this song makes a good statement about where we are in society and what we can do to make things better, but does it without being preachy or overbearing. Henley, Frey, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit are in top form on the beautiful harmonies that carry throughout the track. Vocally, the song bears some similarity to the group's popular version of Steve Young's "Seven Bridges Road," which appeared on the 'Eagles Live' album in 1980. The instrumentation on "Hole" is fairly understated, but that was likely done to allow the moving lyrics to really shine through.

The video is icing on the cake-the 5.1 mix is particularly stunning. The behind the scenes portion gives the viewer an idea of just how much preparation goes into an Eagles show, and contains some amusing moments from the musicians and crew, as well as a look at many of the technical considerations for just one show-in this case, it was the first show of the tour, in Richmond, Virginia.

Having been an Eagles fan for 20+ years, I'm still very much enjoying this release, and have watched/listened to it a number of times since I purchased it nearly a month ago. As good as "Hole In The World" is, it is indicative of a truly great album to come in early 2004.

Summary: ONE OF THE FIRST GREAT DVD SINGLES!
Review: This is a truly great piece of work by THE greatest rock 'n roll band ever! Two versions of the music video (one with Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio Mix, the other with Stereo Mix), a making-of featurette, and a behind-the-scenes of the Farewell I Tour featurette. And as a bonus, the CD single of "Hole in the World." The Eagles have never sounded better! Grade: A+

Summary: Hole lot of disappointment
Review: Went to the farewell tour and just sat silent with the rest of the people as we listened to the "new song". What a boring song. The section I was in was talking most of the time and wondering when the song would end so they could get back to their real music. I almost fell asleep. This review has nothing to do with the political message.

Should have kept this song in the vault as it is a waste of time and money to print it on anything but toilet paper.

P.S. Love the Eagles to bits, this is the only song by them that I will change the radio station when it is played.

Summary: Don't let there be a hole in the world.....
Review: What can I say about this DVD except...holy cow! Two different versions of the video, outtakes and a behind the scenes look at the tour! (Plus all the Joe Walsh I could handle...) Got this right before we went to see the Eagles in Houston baby! Great show btw...if you haven't got tickets, get em'. They are worth the cost.
