Summary: A soaring performance.
Review: This is by far the best concert DVD that I've come across in a long time. The quality of performance is simply matchless.

The set opens on a darkened stage with a few guitar notes played in tremolo style, then unto a guy setting the pace on a percussion instrument making way to Don Felder and Joe Walsh alternating on classical guitars that shortly turns into the familiar opening strains of 'Hotel California' - giving this rock standard a classical air so far removed from the electric treatment in its original studio version - before Don Henley takes over in his wailing vocals. What a way to open a concert!

Don Henley, Glen Frey, Timothy Schmit, Joe Walsh and Don Felder never sounded better. In fact the songs sound far superior in this concert than in the original studio versions, which in itself is a novelty considering that studio versions are supposed to be more polished and refined than live versions. This only attests to how great performers The Eagles really are.

Some of the Eagles standards are performed in this concert, from the high notes of 'I Can't Tell You Why' featuring Timothy Schmit to the fine harmony of 'Take It Easy' with Glen Frey taking the lead. Joe Walsh's rapid fire guitar work in 'Life In A Fast Lane' is a thing to behold, not to mention the mandolin-flavored 'Tequila Sunrise' with Don Felder tinkering with his stringed instrument. 'Desperado' is simply outstanding in its simplicity, with the bulk of the instrumental work focused on the piano ably played by Glen Frey.

New materials, some of them lifted from Don Henley's previous solo album releases, are also featured, showing to full effect Don Felder and Joe Walsh's guitar virtuosity, Don Henley's prowess on drums and Timothy Schmit's subtle but fine bass playing. Timothy takes the lead in the uplifting 'Love Will Keep Us Alive' and Joe does his thing in 'Pretty Maids All In A Row' before Don takes over in 'New York Minute', the somber 'The Last Resort' and the fast and exuberantly danceable 'Get Over It'. What a pleasant surprise that a rock band like The Eagles could be so effective doing a pure country tearjerker, the sad and melancholic 'The Girl From Yesterday', with Glen Frey emphatically taking the lead with full orchestral backing. The guy can obviously give those Nashville folks a run for their money! One has to wonder though why Don Felder did not take the spotlight as lead vocalist in any of the songs in this program, just contentedly concentrating on his electric/classical/slide guitars and mandolin.

As singers and musicians, The Eagles are difficult to match. In 'Hell Freezes Over', the group really soared to new heights!

Summary: DTS Only??? This STINKS!!!!
Review: Who is the genius that decided this should only be released in DTS?????? I may not be completely state of the art, but my Dolby Digital system is very nice, and I am not spending hundreds of dollars to upgrade any time soon! This is the only DVD I have come across that I could not listen to in 6 or 2 channel Dolby, my only option here is 2 channel non dolby. Because of this, this disc is worthless to me. I'm glad I only borrowed it, because I will NOT be buying it any time soon. Even the new Don Henley DVD has both DTS ***AND*** Dolby Digital Sound. What would it have hurt to do the same here? This is unbelievably thoughtless!!!!

Summary: DTS!!!! Eagles fan or not, this one is for you...
Review: Spectacular DTS audio on this one!! The engineered audio is distinct and like new. No one sitting in the audience heard what you'll hear on this track. The extra 'Seven Bridges Road' audio DTS makes the purchase price worthwhile with a good DTS decoder and six channel audio. The video is 5/5 with editing that is interesting and follows the highlights of the music. You could never focus this quickly at a live performance. While never truly reproducing the excitement of a being at a live concert, this audio-visual experience on good surround sound DTS equipment is better than anything you are going to see LIVE.
I couldn't help think to myself watching this, "Hey, who are these old guys playing such great music!" Unfortunately, I am not getting any younger either, but there music has gotten better. Eagles fans will love this. People who love music will love this. Even my four year old daughter was jamming to this one. This is one for every DTS collection.

Summary: What a band!
Review: This is one incredible DVD. Yes, I am a huge Eagles fan. However, this is an Eagles lover's dream. Maybe they did it for the money...but who cares. The only bad part was going to black between songs.
Glenn Frey and Don Henley are the Lennon/McCartney of the seventies. Great singers, too. Don Felder and Joe Walsh were once compared to Eric Clapton and Duane Allman...I think they are way better collectively. Timothy B. Schmidt is a fine bass player, but his vocals are purer and stronger than Meisner's.
People have talked about supergroups...THIS is a supergroup.

Summary: The Best
Review: I was never realy an Eagles fan, but I got this disc to check out my DTS system. New York Minute puts tears in my eyes and Life in the Fast Lane makes me feel like I am 17 again.
The audio is the best I have ever heard on DVD, my sound system is Paradighm Active Reference system and this DVD brings it to life.
The video is crisp and camera work is good. I like the up lighting that was on the performers.
If you think you like the Eagles as a band, just wait to see this DVD, it did not beat out my favorite (Depeche Mode) but it did come darn close.
Buy this disc you will not regret it... unless your sound system sucks. :)

Summary: Timeless music
Review: I already had the VHS tape. The pictures are much sharper on the DVD and I think the music is also better. My ears pick up on accents and music notes very well. The Eagles--Hell Freezes Over is almost perfect. The guys made it look so easy after some 14 Years.....By the way, my teenage years were in the fifties....

Summary: Just Great!
Review: I have viewed the DVD probably 10 times or more already! The images are sharp while the songs are timeless! I was in my late teenage years when The Eagles made numerous hits in 1970's. Songs such as "Hotel California" and "Take It Easy" always bring back great memories from the past! Highly recommended to everyybody.

Summary: Essential Eagles
Review: I was introduced to the Eagles by means of this DVD...Now I am hooked. What fantastic sound, visuals and songs. Since watching this DVD I have seen the Eagles in concert and whilst nothing can beat seeing them live, this DVD comes frighteningly close. Performances of the classics, Hotel California, Take It Easy, are pure quality. Country song, Girl From Yesterday is perfection. The band are in top form on this DVD, the picture is better than any I have seen. This is an essential buy for all avid fans and the not so sure...Watch it once and you will be a fan for life!

Summary: DTS is the key
Review: If you don't have DTS now is the time to upgrade. This is by far the best musical DVD out there (if you have DTS). If you don't have DTS don't expect much from this DVD. I am not a fan of live albums but when I put this DVD on with DTS I was amazed. The sounds are clean and crisp. The seperation of the band memebers and their instruments is awesome. On the Seven Bridges bonus track each band memeber has a speaker dedicated to his voice. DTS is becoming more popular and the sound is definetly better than Dolby Digital. I hope to see more of their music and other bands on DTS.

Summary: One of the TOP3 DVD's ever
Review: Eagles' High quality picture' High quality sound' High quality songs. What can go wrong? Nothing. This is a perfect DVD with super quality and super performances. It has all the new songs, that you can find on the Hell Freezes Over CD plus many of the old classics. I must say that I like the Grand Finale on this DVD the most. Take it easy, Fastlane, In the city, Get Over it, Desperado and Seven Bridges road if you got a DTS decoder.

I saw the Eagles live this June, and it was the best concert I've ever attended, and let me tell you- this is close, this is probably the closest I'll get to that concert. Buy it, you won't be disappointed, even if you aren't a fan of the Eagles I suggest you to buy this one, because it will show you why DVD is so good.

My only complaint, a few songs is missing: Heartache Tonight, The Long Run, New Kid in Town, Sad Café, Take it to the limit- but besides that- magnificent...
