Summary: Simply Amazing
Review: I bought this DVD just yesterday, and I have already watched through it twice. Whether you are a long time Pink Floyd fan, or a newbie, this will definitely satisfy both appetites. Gilmour is a master of the guitar, and his acoustic renditions of Pink Floyd classics prove it. Even though they aren't his own, Je Crois Entendre Encore and Hushabye Mountain are absolutely beautiful. He may be getting old, but David proves that his voice and guitar playing are still as strong as ever; with room to grow. I can't urge you enough to pick up this DVD. May you enjoy every second of this solo project, and, like me, hope that The Division Bell will NOT be the Pink Floyd's last effort as a group.

Summary: A lasting impression
Review: I bought the DVD several months ago. I had never purchased a concert video before and was skeptical, thinking that I wouldn't likely watch it more than a couple times. I was wrong. It's hard to predict on first or second viewing/listening if a piece of music will leave a lasting impression. After the positive impression from the Gilmour DVD, I went out and bought Roger Waters' In the Flesh and Peter Gabriel's Secret World. While both of these are good, I just don't find myself coming back to them like I do with Gilmour

I've read others describe the Meltdown concert as tastefully "understated". I'd have to agree. There are times where you find yourself wishing that Gilmour would give you just a little more, whether it be a longer solo or a few more tracks, but that's part of the beauty of the concert - it's not over the top. The song selections are are refreshing and unexpected. Some key points:
* The set colors and lighting are beatifully done, very intimate.
* The first piece, Shine On, is a great way to begin (with a subtle, teasing, building start)
* To me, the treasures are the non-classics (a couple post-Waters pieces, great versions of some Barrett material, a piece from a Bizet opera, Richard Wright's Breakthrough, and a beautifully done Richard Thompson piece).
* To me, this performance further illustrates how Waters and Gilmour complemented each other, and in a sense, strengthened each other's weaknesses. Gilmour seems to take other people's music to a new place with his production skills and guitar work.
* The bonus tracks are enjoyable. I often find myself seeking out the Elvis track ("Don't") from the Lieber and Stoller Concert. Beautiful vocals, and again great guitar work, taking someon else's music to a new place.
* The concert is heavily acoustic, but great electric solos can be found. My favorites: "Coming Back to Life" (track is improved from the studio version, with backup singers adding a new wrinkle), "Breakthrough", "Don't",and the second version of "Comfortably Numb".
* This DVD has been so satisfying, I find myself regularly checking for the "supposed" release of a new Gilmour album in 2003. Still waiting...

In conclusion, just buy this one. If you live in the United States, you'll find yourself longing for a David Gilmour theater tour.

Summary: hum
Review: Well, I love and always have loved dave. I guess I was a little taken back by the mostly acoustic guitar work. David you are a great and worthy axe man. But missed the howl that from the strat. On another note. The disc has wonderful sound, great colour and makes your dvd player a useful item. There is only one david and the voice and the talent are there without a doubt. Just wished it had a little more energy. Electric that is,

Summary: Gilmour still rules
Review: Just to see Mr. Pinkfloyd performing live is priceless!
Loved the live version of "Wish you were here" with chello, very alive version of "Coming back to live", very Gilmouric version of "Dominos" and a very new song from Gilmour -"smile".

"Dimming of the Day" delivery is certainly memorable!
The DVD has some rare extras as added bonus such as, Gilmour singing sonnet of Wlliam Shakespeare, multiple live version of "Wall" tracks with guest stars, home movie, lyrics etc.

This one is a gem in live performance.

Review: What can I say? WOW! This is a great GREAT DVD.
Image is perfect, sound is amazing completely, and the performance is just the finest.
During this long Pink Floyd absence (and probably definitive) since p·u·l·s·e, it is always refreshing to find new and different versions of classic oldies. And Dave does it in a triumphant way...
An almost entirely acoustic set (without all the MTV fancy media around) serves beautifully to Gilmour's purposes of setting Floyd's related songs to what will possibly become a classic.
Acoustic keyboards, bass, drums, guitars (with some effects, though) and voices, replace the always electronic Pink Floyd environment with elegant success.
I was specially thrilled by the choir: they substitute Rick Wright's keyboards on many songs, giving them a totally fresh and new aura. Let's wait to hear the sample of High Hopes that Dave presents ("you'll hear what I get to hear during rehearsals").
I can say that this version of High Hopes is even better than the original one.
A must for all PF fans. Buy it.

Summary: where is pinkfloyd in 2003.?
Review: After several times watching my two favorite artists [ Dave from DVD"David gilmour in concert" .and Rogers's "In the flesh"].I have a feeling like a kid sitting in a midle of a divorced parents . both are so great, but wasted so much on something that nobody want to. Anyway, this DVD is a great one to have. It contents some amazing acoustic sounds that seems lightly opposition of "Sound of thunder" & " Pulse". Hopefully one days. we have the true, reunited Pink+Floyd. [ Just the HIGH HOPE?].

Summary: Outstanding
Review: Superb renditions of Floyd classics as well as some new stuff! Gilmour is still the best guitarist in rock - the emotion and stylistic overtones in his playing are remarkable. Definitely worth the price. The only negative was the singing for Water's part of Comfortably Numb - very poor job by some old guy and Geldoff.... Otherwise awesome.

Summary: The legend continues
Review: I was a little hesitant on buying this dvd until I popped the dvd in and listened to it the first time. When I heard "Shine on you Crazy diamond" I was almost sadened by what I was hearing. I thought you gotta be crazy David, doing this to a Pink Floyd song but after you get past the first couple songs the album truely opens up. I personally start the dvd on the 4th track and the next 5 songs are pure bliss. Also, David uses the acoustic guitar on all the songs but does use an electric guitar as well for many of his solos (in which he just jams out as you would expect him to). At first I thought this was going to be a major disappointment but there are about 5 or 6 excellent songs on here which make it well worth the money. I bought this DVD 4 days ago and have already listened to it about 8 or 9 times.
