Summary: THANKS TO HENLEY AND DTS TECHNOLOGY
Review: This DVD is the best concert available. Both technical production and the band's performance are excellent. Don Henley freezes the hell over. The only missing thing is a video clip for "Seven Bridges Road". I've read a comment about the absence of stereo version of this song. The only way to understand the reason is to have DTS compatible DVD player and amplifier. Simply pump up the volume and stand in the middle of the room. You'll hear each member of the band from each speaker. 5 members, 5 speakers. There's no better way to demonstrate DTS. That's why it is available in this format. Listen to this song every morning before you get out for work. No other medicine needed for the rest of your life.

Summary: Eagles-Hell Freezes Over
Review: This is a great way to really get to know the Eagles almost personally. My husband and I watch it over and over. I feel as if I have gotten to know each band member. I loved every minute of this DVD. At first I wasn't sure if buying a music DVD would be worth it, but now I am sold and would like to purchase more. The only downside to this video was that it wasn't long enough and there weren't more of their songs played. Also my husband could not get it to play in DTS format even though our DVD is equiped for it. This has really puzzled us. The only way to listen to "Seven Bridges Road" is in DTS format. I am not sure what is going on with this. He has tried everything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mary

Summary: Simply amazing!
Review: I am truly, truly happy that a friend of mine lent me this DTS DVD. It was the first time I viewed a music DVD, and a few days after I went out and got myself one!

I'm not a diehard fan of the Eagles, but there's really something about the quality of this disc coupled I guess with the rendition of the band itself (a high emotional state which is expected as this is actually a reunion of sorts!) which makes me just want to watch it over and over again. I particularly liked their renditions of Hotel California, The Heart Of The Matter and Love Will Keep Us Alive.

It is because of this single disc that I began including other music DVDs in my regular monthly DVD online ordering cycle (e.g. Sarah Mc Lachlan). Needless to say, I highly recommend it!

Summary: Incredible DTS sound
Review: I am a new DVD owner. The DTS sound on this DVD is amazing! The sound is crisp, clear, and robust. This DVD has gotten me back into the Eagles, the performances are excellent. I just hope DTS is the future. The recording industry should stop their whining about MP3's and focus on putting out quality titles in DTS because right now there are so few.

Summary: 5.1 ADVICE
Review: Be careful when ordering this DVD. It is recorded in either DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1. Make sure your RECEIVER processes DTS otherwise buy the Dolby Digital version. Most all DVD players read and send a DTS & Dolby Digital signal to your receiver but make sure your receiver processes DTS and/or Dolby Digital before you make your decision. I have the DTS version but no DTS processer and had to select the enhanced stereo setting. On the other hand the sound is still impressive. So far no other DVD I've purchased compares in overall quality. I'm convinced this is the best way to enjoy music. I've stopped buying CDs and only buy music DVDs now. I'm waiting for my old classics to be re-mixed to 5.1 sound with some clips from concerts.

Summary: The best music video ever - but the laserdisc has the edge!
Review: When I bought the DTS laserdisc, I understood and experienced just what the DTS hype was all about! When the trailer (recorded on rubber band?) ends, to be replaced by a full 360 degree soundstage, the effect is just awesome. "Hotel California" starts the conversion that Don Henley's "A New York Minute" completes - and there is still more to come. Multi-channel surround is more than just an effect - its an experience with this album. I bought the DVD too, but although the video is crisper (but necessarily better), the sound on the laserdisc has an edge that I can't explain. Possibly less compression, "I don't know.....

Summary: Can't get enough of Hotel California
Review: Hey guy, if you want your significant other to allow you to purcahse that new sound system you're dreaming of, play this DVD in full DTS glory at your local audio store for her. I LOVE this DVD and so does my wife! And I have a new sound system just so I can play it right. Awesome!

Summary: Best Music DVD Available Today
Review: Hell Freezes Over has to be the most realistic concert sound yet available on DVD. I have the DTS encoded six-speaker surround system with a 55" Widescreen HDTV, so the video is better than what I can see or hear at just about any motion picture theatre. I have found no other DVD that can match the production quality and sound, yet. Mostly due to the DTS encoding which is noticably superior to the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround on the home theater system. Above technical quality, the Eagles themselves perform their best yet. Comparing Hotel California on this DVD with their original is like comparing an old Chevy with a Rolls. The old Chevy is a great classic, and attractive, but the Rolls has the ride and the class. Don Felder and Joe Walsh perform better than I have ever before heard them, and playing the Alverez classical guitars on the Hotel California cut is hands-down, just the best version ever. Glenn Frey and Don Henley give impressive performances, and Timothy B. Schmidt also is at his best ever on bass and vocals. I watch it again and again. There is just no comparison to the sound of the DTS DVD and the CD of this same album. I have both and the CD is always a letdown after hearing the DVD. Well worth the price, and a DVD you will listen to again and again.
