Summary: Misleading title, little Dylan footage, only imitation music
Review: If you're buying this hoping to see a lot of footage of Dylan, and hear *any* music played by Dylan and not some mediocre imitation band, this is not for you. Those into Mickey Jones, however, might find it very interesting.

The title itself is misleading in the sense it creates expectations -- not that it's literally fraudulent -- it does not deliver, specifically expectations of some new Dylan footage and music from the '66 tour.

When Mickey Jones was hawking this to Dylan fans a year or two ago, he certainly did nothing to clear the misperceptions most of us were under when we ordered the item from him.

Summary: Worth a look...
Review: I can't agree with those who say this is a rip-off: provided you realise that it's a 91-minute documentary built around some silent home movie footage, and not a pro-shot 'Eat The Document 2,' I'm sure any Dylan fan will find it fascinating.
Yes, the first half hour concerns Mickey Jones's early musical career, but it sets the scene well and has some interesting footage (including a brief clip of the Beatles onstage in Paris) And the DVD's chapter indexing lets you skip this completely if preferred.
Yes, the live footage sequences are very brief, and there's lots of non-performance clips of Dylan & co wandering around, but I found it all interesting and there's a real 'Eat The Document outtake' feel to some of the scenes
The 'recreated' music used on the soundtrack is used very sparingly, as incidental background music, and is very effective as such - this film is a spoken-word documentary, not a 'live in concert' film. Mickey Jones is partly interviewed on camera, partly narrates the home movie clips - he's a very engaging raconteur and has several 'exclusive' observations and anecdotes to relate; there's also some nice still photographs incorporated throughout, some of which I hadn't seen before.
Perhaps it is more suited to the Dylan fan than someone with just a casual interest, but anyone like me who's pored over poor-quality bootlegs of 'Eat the Document' or is familiar with the B&W photos from the 1966 Tour, will find the home movie footage refreshingly new, and Mickey Jones's commentary a worthy accompaniment.

Summary: SURPRISE PACKAGE
Review: Mickey Jones' World Tour 1966 DVD turms out to be one of the best kept secrets in music history. And it's been kept under wraps for 35 years! Finally we're presented with a very professionally assembled presentation with Mickey Jones himself as the tour guide. Mickey's on screen narrative more than compensates for the lack of live music. He gives the viewer an intimate and entertaining view of what it was like to play on Bob Dylan's legendary 1966 tour. For both the fans and professional musicians alike, this is a revelation for the legion of Dylan afficiandos. A peek through the keyhole of time. Thanks Mickey!

Summary: On The Road With Bob And The Band!
Review: I have often pondered what it would have been like to be on the road with Bob Dylan circa 1966.Now thanks to the brilliant narration and commentary by drummer Mickey Jones I have been on tour with Bob and The Band at a time when I was just a few months old.Being born in 1965 I could never have seen the footage of Bob and the Band cavorting on the streets, flying through the air,and shrugging off the hecklers were it not for the 8mm camera of Mickey.I have now heard the boos from the audience, heard the shout of Judas permeate through the air and felt as though I was a part of history.I often feel like I was born too late having missed the wonderful music and tours of the late 60's now I will never again wonder what I missed because I've been there and what a journey it was!If you've ever wondered what the great World Tour of 1966 was like search no longer, just pop in this DVD and take a trip with Bob and The Band down memory lane.

Summary: Classic Footage!!
Review: What a fascinating DVD! I loved seeing that old footage of the Tour,
because it gave me the feeling that I was really getting an inside look
at Dylan and Mickey Jones and the entourage (it was kind of like going to a museum and and having an exclusive look at a rare acquisition)....
Also I really liked the way Mickey narrated the piece. It brought the
Tour even more to life, and also gave me background information which helped the experience. And his personality comes through big-time, making it a very entertaining 91 minutes.
Thanks for some really classic footage!

Summary: Agree 100% with first reviewer...
Review: I purchased this DVD in hopes of getting something like "Eat the Document". I watched it when I first got it and will never watch it ever again. Don't waste your money unless you are into Mickey Jones. The Dylan footage is minimal, but Jones seems to go on forever. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. In all honesty, I felt ripped off after having purchased this. It's really falsely advertised.

Summary: thanks Mr. B
Review: So, Mr. B. Is the first reviewer right or is he not right? Is Hwy 61 Revisited playing the background music on this DVD. If they are then this music DVD is a complete waste of time for me as I have their lousy CD and I wouldn't want to listen to them again. In fact, their CD is at the very bottom of my extended CD collection of Bob Dylan(various artist) and that includes about 35 or so plus I have about 75 bootlegs of the "real deal" So why waste my time. Sure I would like to see Bob live but the back ground noise would be horrific if it wasn't himself playing. Write a review on this DVD. Give us your jaded opinion. Thank you

Summary: In defense....
Review: In defense of the poor guy who gave the first reviewed & got berrated, he probably wasn't watching a bootleg. The director, Mickey Jones, has been selling copies of this DVD direct from his website for a couple of years. The release date is not for the DVD's introduction to the market, but only to Amazon as a distributor. Get your facts straight before you accuse someone of being a thief.

Summary: BOOTLEG?
Review: My only question regarding this "DVD" is>> If this is just being released in February 2004, How can there be a review of it in 2003 unless it's a "bootleg" copy and if it is such then YOU>>AMAZON Should set the "DVD" record straight and give other reviews on this item "otherwise" I'll just have to trust the 24 of the 25 other reviewers and believe that it's just a bunch of BS and NOT waste my money either. Thanks PS And I agree that the "tribute" band HWY 61 RVST is terrible I have their CD and wished I hadn't. I can play better Dylan than those dingdongs.
