Summary: out with the old; in with the new
Review: The reviews shown on this page are for the ORIGINAL 1970 version of this movie, not the "special edition" that goes on sale in January. I saw this "new" version recently at a cinema in London and it just blows the old version away!! There are no more sad fans comments, but more Elvis, with plenty of humour from the king and over 40 minutes of previously unseen material. Elvis jokes around with his band and looks superb. Several mild expletives that were previously edited out are now re-instated and the whole production has a modern "MTV" style about it. Ignore the reviews for the old version, this film is now the business!!!

Summary: That the way it was
Review: Having watched the premiere of the New special addition of TTWIT in London last weekend I can tell you we are in for a real treat. All of the terrible interview scenes have been replaced with extra rehersals and what seems like a full concert. It is arranged in chronological order, and re-cut in a much more modern way to appeal to a new audience, this provides is a fantastic build up to the actual concert. Footage which would never have been considered 30 years ago has now been inserted, and gratful we should be. If you liked the original you are going to love this version.

Review: This is a truly outstanding concert movie, but note that it's not about Elvis's first Las Vegas performances. Elvis is at his best here. Some of the interspliced fan interviews are bizarre, but enjoyable for us "modern" folks looking back at the early 1970s. The saddest part of the movie are the bits at the beginning filmed in a recording studio --..., and knowing this is how he met his end adds a touch of sadness to an otherwise very fun movie.

Review: I think this movie is the best look at Elvis up close and personal it shows him before and after his show. Although I must say it is a little too one sided, as it depicts Elvis as a great showmaster. All in all I think this DVD really is worth it's money and a must have for anyone that remotely likes Elvis.

Review: Elvis is in top form here, but not as spectactular as in the 68 Comeback Special. The extra clips with the fan's comments are embarrassing. I don't know why they ever made it into the film. The sound is subpar for a DVD.

Summary: "Re-Invented" Elvis Captured On Film
Review: It wasn't exactly the "Tiger Man" of Burbank from June, '68, it was a Show Business Titan firmly re-established in a new arena - Las Vegas. (The massive cross-country tours would come later). Here he gears up for his second Vegas engagement. The rehearsal scenes reveal a very serious artist; the actual live performance scenes show that this diligence paid off, notably on MOR material like "I've Lost You" and "I Just Can't Help Believing". Unfortunately, there is alot of time spent away from Elvis: too many interviews and shots of surrounding activities. For example, an E.P. impersonator is shown doing "Tiger Man", THEN the man himself doing an outstanding version of the tune. Here we have a repeat of the wrongheaded approach found in his features - editing which seems almost by design to lessen his impact. Overall, this documentary should be seen by all Presley fans.

Summary: Great Songs, Horrible Audio
Review: The dvd engineers could have put much more effort into this. Visually, it's not bad, but, not great either. To attempt to really hear this, you have to put the volume at such a high level it's distorted. The hiss can't be removed even when you turn the treble and front mid levels way down. Don't try to blast this, you'll only damage your speakers . I bought it because it's Elvis. For the non-diehard fan, I say hold off buying this and send complaints to MGM with the rest of us. We deserve a remastered version asap. Even for 70's audio equipment, this is pretty bad. An easy five star dvd if the audio was better.

Summary: A Fans Dream Come True
Review: This movie is the best Elvis concert of his career and it is on video. Elvis looks great and sounds great. He does not forget his roots of music;especially, when he does his dancing and singing. I love the music and my friends always ask me to show them the movie because they love last songs of the movie. I give the movie 5 stars; it has great singing, documentation, such as footage from rehearsals fans never get to see. I wish their will be a better soundtract to catch Elvis at this show, yet the movie is just enough.

Review: Why this video/DVD's audio has not been re-mastered using theoriginal stereo concert recordings is beyond me. Why they decided tomake "The Lost Performances" in stereo but not these performances is a shame because it really takes away from the viewing/listening experience.
