Summary: Piss off, mate!!
Review: I always said I was born in the wrong generation - I'm 18 and this movie makes me wish I was a mod in the '60's. I love the Who; the soundtrack rocks, but nothing beats the Ace Face and his smooth little dance. I bought this movie 2 years ago after seeing Quadrophenia in concert, and I still watch it monthly.

Review: Not sure what this has to do with the album, but great movie. Jimmy is almost religious in his determination to be the ultimate mod. Notice how grim he seems, how his friends seem to be having fun! Whenever an ideal is pursued this single-mindedly, you are bound to lose everything

Summary: An excellent rock documentary of estranged British youth.
Review: A wonderfully tragic film, detailing the life of Jimmy, your average early 1960's British mod and Kinks fan. Boasting an awesome soundtrack (featuring The Who's best) and great performances by Phil Daniels and Sting as the too-cool Ace Face. A must-have for Who and Police fans alike.

Summary: Not just for drugged-up WHO fans!
Review: The unfortunate thing about this film is that it lives under the shadow of The Who's rock album of the same name. While the movie contains some songs from the album, and shares some characters with the album's liner story by Pete Townshend, the movie is different and unique enough to stand alone quite nicely, thank you. It really has nothing to do with multiple split-personalities, either. The visual images of working-class London are striking and memorable, but the language and content are pretty rough. The strong violence and drugs will turn some people off. What sex there is, is deliberately patheic rather than erotic. This movie takes you into an intensely crafted world of disillusionment and self-doubt. If you've ever been there in your own life, you will find bittersweet beauty in the way this film has put deeply personal emotions on the screen without being contrived or preachy. If you've never felt those feelings yourself, you might not enjoy the ride.

Summary: Almost flawless
Review: I only have two technical qualms with "Quadrophenia."1-The mix of the movie is awfully, awfully muddy. I've seen it both in the theatre (albeit several years after the release in a university theatre) and on video. I hope they've gone back and worked on it, with the Dolby and all. 2-Like most English movies from the 70's, the transfer of the film, that is, the way that it is colored just before the film is released, could've been pushed a lot harder. Makes it look dated, which I guess is sort of good, as it is a snapshot of an era. One of the many good points about the film is that you only physically see The Who twice-once in poster form and once on the telly. I applaud the self-restraint. Otherwise, I gotta chime in with the fact that the film-perhaps more than any other film-really influenced my life. It did for me what "Catcher in the Rye" did for a lot of other people. I own very few films, maybe five or six. This is one of them.

Summary: The english American Graffity!
Review: I've loved the Quadrophenia album since the 1st time I heard it, and since then was itching to see the movie. I knew the soundtrack would be great, it's made by The Who, but it's better than I expected. I felt like jumping on the parties on the movie, the songs are so addictive! I wish all the songs played on the movie were on the soundtrack, they made it The Who-only, but there's so many songs that must have been included. And the ending wasn't what I was expecting, no Jimmy jumping on the sea and going to The Rock, but instead a great aerial shot.

Summary: Mod Quad Delight
Review: Classic tale of the "angry young man" persona made famous by Jack Keroauc. Became a Mod in 1981 after seeing this. Seen it a thousand times, if not more. Great Vespas and Lammys featured as well, which is good for planning the look of your Mod scoot! Too bad Sting looks like a git with bad hair. Jimmy's classic look is timeless...
