Review: Just received the DVD and....Wow!
The interviews are really inspiring---you really get the idea of what was going on. Just wish that they put in more interviews with Sir George Martin who's my ultimate hero.
For gearheads, the advantage of DVDs giving ice-clear freeze-frames for you to examine is a big plus.And the movie itself......Wow again!(No wonder they call it the "Citizen Cane" of R'N'R movies even if there are stupid and primitive moments in today's standards.)

Summary: Why did they mess with the sound?
Review: Anyone with a 5.1 setup should read David Ranada's review in the December '02 issue of Sound & Vision prior to purchase. This version has a "remixed and enhanced" soundtrack. Nobody would put up with a colorized DVD of this film, yet that's exactly what they've done to the audio. As Ranada said, all this version does is drive up the price of the original MPI version.

Summary: Oh Yah! Finally on DVD!!
Review: I have loved this movie from the start and I have eagerly awaited a digital version. Here it is and I am jazzed. The picture quality is just great, for older black and white film originals. I like the wide-screen format very much. That is the only way to go. The movie seems to have been re-done intact, so I am very happy with the flow and sequence of the film. Then there are the extras. I thought that having a second disk was a bit much, but, I did really enjoy the material. You'll have to see for yourself. I like the insights from the "Fifth Beatle," and the comments from the people who actually worked on the project. The bit I like most is finding out that the tailor, whose measuring tape is cut by John, is actually the tailor who made all their suits. Trust me, If you have enjoyed A Hard Day's Night before, you'll love it all over again.

Summary: Best Beatles Movie Ever!
Review: With their unbelievable wit and talent, the Beatles have made "A Hard Day's Night" their best movie ever. When I first watched it, I didn't notice some of the "hidden" things in the movie. The special features pointed them out, without it, I would never have noticed. I watch the movie whenever I can, about twice a week. I could never get bored of it. It's truly the best movie ever.

Summary: The Grandads of the Boy Bands
Review: See the movie that inspired the Monkees (or at least, the producers of the monkees). This black and white, loosely structured film is a lot of fun. Shot and edited in an extremely short period of time, it seems to have benefited from being put in the can before anyone could fuss over it too much and leach it of its playfulness and originality. Unlike Dylan and Baez in DON'T LOOK BACK, the Beatles were playing characters, not trying to project their own PR images. And they seemed to enjoy doing so. While the Swingin' England costumes, hairstyles, and backdrop makes you wish someone had put up the pounds for color film, the b&w camera work evokes the other great b&w films of that era: Darling, Alfie, Georgie Girl, to name a few. What I found most amusing was how polite the Beatles were to the adults in the movie (George actually apologizes to a sports coach for running around on his "private property.") There are no clues that I could detect of the role these four baby-faced musicians would have in the counter-culture movement of the next half decade. The music is great, of course...but the songs were either shorter than I remembered, or have been edited down somewhat. It would have been nice if the second DVD had some outtakes (maybe they used every frame they shot) or news footage from the time. Instead, it contains countless interviews with just about everyone connected to the film. Interesting reminiscences, but enough is enough. (I doubt that I'll ever play the second DVD again.) More than mere nostalgia, this is a great movie!

Summary: Overated, but still fun and groundbreaking
Review: A Hard Day's Night is one of those films that are highly praised, but not quite the masterpiece it's heralded as. Perhaps it's overrated because of its groundbreaking nature in 1964. This film is the origin of music videos, and the reason we have MTV, VH1 and other music channels now. But when you look at it now, some thirty years later, many of the film's flaws are all too noticeable. Most note worthy, the acting by the Beatles isn't up to snuff. It improves in their later films, but several of their lines here are down-right cringe worthy. Also, much of the camera work is unintentionally shaky. One could argue they were doing it for the film's somewhat documentary approach, but it seems more likely they were rushed for time with the Beatle's busy schedule, as many scenes were steady, while others were shaky. But despite these flaws, the film is still very enjoyable. It's clear the Fab Four were having a blast making this film, ad libbing many of the lines. At times, their comments are surprisingly racy for the time, and it adds to their youthful vigor here. Despite no clear plot, the film still works, almost documentary-like, aided in part by the shaky camera work. I prefer the Beatles follow up film Help!, a much better produced story with louder laughs. That film shows the Beatles becoming more comfortable in their movie shoes. Yet, somehow in its more polished state, it loses some of the youthful innocence the Beatles had at the very beginning of their career, which A Hard Day's Night righteously explores. Four stars for Beatles Fans, three for the average film viewer.

Review: The prelude to modern music videos/DVD's. It captures John, Paul, George, and Ringo at their early peak of 'Beatlemania'. They swept the U.K., the U.S. and, yes the world, and started the 'British Invasion'.
We will never see another band like this in any lifetime, or another rock collaboration team like Lennon/McCartney( and don't forget Mr. Harrison also). Their music and far-reaching influence are proving to be timeless!
I bought the DVD on it's first release- the movie and special features are well worth the price to any music fan.
A great special feature is the interview with George Martin - the Fab 4's technical master. How he engineered and blended those early sounds and lyrics with the recording technology of the mid-1960's, is beyond me. Yet, they remain musical treasures, and dare I say, creative masterpieces of their time.
I can't wait for 'HELP' to be released on DVD! 'All You need is Love' - - Take Care!

Review: Well, I'm from mexico, and then may be my english isn't so well, but I will Try to give you my opinion about this DVD.
I think is so great. We had to wait a lot of time before it. And the sound I think is not too bad. Is very well, may the person who said the sound is bad. Don't Really like the beatles music, I really enjoy watching this Movie.
We spend our money in other kind of dvds about beatles, and prefe spend in this. You won't be wrong.
