Summary: Alone with George
Review: I, too, went to see "Concert for George" and was the only one in the theater. It was a bit unnerving but completely enjoyable. I can't understand why this wasn't publicized more, since it was such a sincere tribute by such outstanding artists. It was also moving to see his son playing guitar all through the performance. Ringo and Paul also were there, sadly reminding us that they were the only 2 Beatles left.
The movie was not shown again.
I hope it comes out on VHS. I would certainly buy it.

Summary: The Best Concert Movie Made That Hardly Anyone Knew About
Review: This was a well-produced entertaining and intelligent concert movie which paid tribute to the life and music of former Beatle, George Harrison, on the one-year anniversary of his death at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Unfortunately, I was the only one in the theatre for a Sunday matinee showing because nobody knew what the movie was about. It received no publicity or write-up in the newpaper movie section. Fortunately, this allowed me to sing, dance, laugh and cry in a theatre which I had to myself. The concert movie included Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers, Paul McCartney, Billy Preston, Monty Python,Tom Hanks and others. Isn't it a pity that no one else was there to share the melancholoy, talent genius and humor that was George.

Summary: An Overwhelming Experience
Review: Worlds beyond the usual concert film, this is a deeply emotional experience for those lucky enough to have had George's music woven into their lives. A perfect balance of joy, laughter and loss, a delicate and perfect balance of rock, pop, blues, comedy, classical Eastern raga and ukelele. Contrary to most tribute and hall of fame concerts finding dozens of dinosaurs falling all over each other in sloppy camaraderie and faulty beats, this assembly under Eric Clapton's direction give specific, tight, heartfelt and soaring performances of exceptional grandeur... so obviously trying to do their best for George that it tears your heart out at points. Clapton's work is both grief stricken and exhilarating, McCartney's sadness renders him unusually subdued and appealing, Anoushka Shankar's performance is absolutely transcendant, and Sam Brown's rockin' rendition of "Horse to Water" is a jaw dropper, a real treat. This film is, to put it simply, a stunning and overwhelming experience. Thank you George. And George, just so you'll know... there wasn't a dry eye in the theater...

Summary: One of the best movies of the year...
Review: I rank this right behind "Chicago" for movies of 2003. I loved it. I went back for a second viewing and it was sold out!! Great music. Great performances. Paul doing "All Things Must Pass". Preston adding his soulful voice to "My Sweet Lord". Lynne doing "The Inner Light" with Shankar's daughter on sitar. I took a bathroom break when the Indian musicians came on and almost missed a great accoustic performance by Clapton. The last song is fabulous. This movie outranks all the Hollywood blockbusters by miles in entertainment value. I wanted my money BACK after Matrix and the Hulk. I'd pay to see this again and again. A shame it didn't get a wider release.

Summary: Concert for George - unforgettable classic
Review: Having had the privilege of seeing the actual concert featuring Jeff Lynne, Paul McCartney, Joe Brown, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Dhani Harrison, Billy Preston, Jules Holland acccompanying Sammy Brown in George's last release before his death- a blow-you-away performance of "Horse to Water - an unexpected treat, MOnty Python (with Tom Hanks featured), Ravi Shankar and his amazing daughter Anoushka as well as the film, I can tell you that both are uniquely enjoyable. The DVD will give the advantage of providing both, one on each disc.Do see it in the theater if you can, for that big-screen, being-there effect, but try to catch it in a theater with decent sound! I saw it in two theaters, one with surround (sounded fabulously realistic) and one with a sytem pathetically inadequate to the subject. The film and DVD were mastered by muscican/producer extraordinaire Jeff Lynne, who pays great attention to detail to produce perfect sound, so if you saw it in a less-than-wonderful theater, know that the DVD will sound fantastic on a decent system. Also, while the film wonderfully interjects short interviews and scenes from rehearsals, etc., which are quite enjoyable, know that the actual concert is longer and you can see it in its totality on the second disc.
It will surely touch your heart - lots of love projected - and DO stay for the end credits for something you won't want to miss.

Summary: Concert for George a Wonderful Tribute
Review: Just saw this on the big screen (on what would have been John Lennon's 63rd birthay), and will be adding it to my collection when the DVD is released.

What a heartwarming display of the love George created in his too-short lifetime! He probably would have been horribly embarrassed had he still been with us in physical form, but for everyone in Albert Hall that night one year on, not to mention the rest of us who can see it now, it was healing celebration of the life that touched countless others with the beautiful music he gave us.

Anyone who loved the BEATLES won't want to miss this one!

Summary: Concert For George- THE FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I just saw Concert for George the Film this weekend...well actually I saw it twice!!! Besides being a fan of George Harrison & The Beatles there are wonderful performances by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne & Eric Clapton of course! If you are a world music fan than there is great piece by Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka which is so so moving. However, if you think this movie is a downer and just a tear jerker it's not! It has 2 great sketches from The Monty Pythons!!!! So Hilarious...I really think the film captured so many different sides of George...his spirutual side to his great sense of humor! I encourage people to see it on the big screen!!!! You will thank me!!!!

Summary: One of the Greatest Concert Videos
Review: I saw the DVD in the movie theater two days ago and I loved it from beginning to end. The opening song "If I Needed Someone,"Ringo singing "Photograph" and Paul McCartney singing "All Things Must Pass" and "Something" with Eric Clapton were my personal favorite moments. I alternated between singing and crying throughout the whole thing.

Summary: After seeing it in theatres . . .
Review: I can say that it was the hour drive it took us to get to the theatre. It's hard to believe it's been less than 2 years since the world lost such an amazing man. And seeing all of these famous people, who were all George's best friends, there singing and making music for George was absolutely amazing. I thought I might make it through without crying too much, but I was wrong. If you're a respectable Beatle/George fan, you WILL cry. Seeing Paul McCartney play with Ringo was amazing, they kept looking back at each other and you have to think about how many times Paul has looked back and seen Ringo on drums. Paul did a great job on All Things Must Pass, and he really surprised me how he didn't demand to be in the spotlight the whole time. Tom Petty did a GREAT version of Taxman, and the Monty Python bit was really funny, you find out why it's rated PG13 though. I'd say the best part is the very end, everyone in the theatre was sobbing at that point. Eric Clapton did lead on most songs, he did wonderful and as usual his guitar was just beautiful. All in all this was a beautiful tribute to George, and a must have for anyone who's been touched by George's life. And a note to anyone seeing it in theatres, STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS.

Summary: Wait 'Til You See The Full Concert
Review: I consider myself a lucky guy...through extremely good fortune, I was able to fly to London last year and attend The Concert For George in person. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Having that said, I saw the theatrical release on Friday, and I have only one thing to say: As good as you think the film is, you won't believe how good the actual concert is. Why do I say that? Because this is a two-disc set, and Disc One is the ENTIRE concert, while Disc Two is the film.

You won't believe the difference between the two. Not to say the film is bad, but once you see the whole show, you will be spoiled beyond belief. The one thing the film has that the concert doesn't is the backstage interviews and funny bits.

So...be patient for November 18 and you will be wonderfully rewarded!
